Going coastal
From my years of living on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, I have a strong connection to everything coastal and I can’t seem to pass any image that brings thoughts of the colours and moods of that ever changing scene outside the windows of my summer home. But you don’t need to live by the ocean to be attracted to coastal decor.
Sometimes subtle references are enough to satisfy the urge to live by the sea. Other homeowners want the full meal deal. It is possible to go a little overboard (pun intended) and keep adding things because they seem to fit. Control that urge. The best coastal spaces are subtle in their references.

Choose a paint colour that is reminiscent of the water or sky on a sunny or dull day. Some colours are light and airy similar to sun sparkles on water; other choices can make you think of the depths of the sea. Don't limit your possibilities, the range of hues to choose from is immense. There are aquas, teals, silvery greens, heavy blues, and the blues of reflected skies.
