Transitional Bath
Sunny, bright and spacious were the client’s instructions for this master bath. Capturing the river view in the fall and winter was also important. A vaulting ceiling, painted white adds volume; the yellow walls evoke sunshine. The lightness of both help brightens the space. Framed mirrors, painted gold, reflect the river’s annual view. A deep ledge, open niches and drawer bases add display and storage. Recessed sinks and cabinet-mounted towel bars facilitate cleanup. A bow-front tub deck softens the space, and the deep tone of the cork floor grounds the space. The tentacles of the chandelier and wall sconce provide ambient lighting and accent, while the flanking wall sconces offer task lighting. A translucent glass panel in the entry door allows both natural and artificial light to illuminate the vestibule.
