Timber-frame Kitchen Design with Reclaimed Beams
The use of the very large antique beam for a "header beam" is exactly as you will find in the antique structures we reclaim. Smaller dimension beams were attached to emulate floor joists. We always suggest employing historically accurate placement of beams and other materials.
Make sure your contractor knows the appropriate installations methods. Have them first installed, then apply wood panels/sheetrock to the beams, OR cut the wood panels/sheetrock and set the beams into the space. Little extra effort is required for perfection.
