Mackintosh Inspired Kitchen Floating Shelf
The back splash here is just a custom cut sheet of stainless steel that becomes such a high end backdrop for the graphic lines of the rest of the components. I really wanted to use a floating shelf detail to create the feeling of openness in this small kitchen. I also tried to tie the floating shelf into other areas of graphic detail in the woodwork around the microwave and oven. This is also a space where we did not spend the extra money to purchase a trim kit for a built in microwave. We just created an open space that allowed the microwave to breathe but still appears to be built in.
