This 1904 Queen Anne Cottage in San Francisco's Cole Valley neighborhood underwent a Greenpoint Rated gut rehab remodel from 2008-2009. Neglected for decades, this 2BR/1BA house was lifted to add the garage shown here plus a complete lower level. Expanded to 5BR/4BA, this home retained many of its original interior and exterior details while getting all sustainable and non-toxic materials utilized throughout.
After the existing kitchen was removed, we built a new kitchen in roughly the same location plus a built-in breakfast nook with an L-shaped bench with a back and a custom butcher-block table. Pull-out storage on the end and with a piano hinge on the seat adds space for holiday extras. Shaker cabinets were used for a classic feel and the original Douglas Fir floors were retained and refinished with an ebony stain. Chalkboard paint above and around the corner make for a fun home message center.
