Monochrome Kitchen for Entertaining
The Client Brief
With high ceiling, stepped out walls and angled ceilings. The client wanted somebody who could understand their vision and create a space to entertain and utilise all corners of the room. They wanted a dramatic dark kitchen with light surfaces for hosting. With a bar being the feature of the Kitchen.
The Challenge
The walls in the client’s home were not perfectly square which meant we had some walls that stepped forward and created corners to work around which made fitting uneven. We also wanted to hide the fact that the wall stepped out, so we created a bespoke open shelf with a shallow depth but keeping it in line with the full depth wall units to the right. We also had another challenge with the uneven ceiling heights with angled slopes and skylights. We created bespoke sized wall units to maximise storage and mould around the different niches.
What we did
We installed a Pronorm kitchen from our X-Line handleless range in the Alba Oak Black finish coupled with the Matt Black handle rail and 20mm worktop with a Shark nose edge. The shark nose edge is a great way to elevate your kitchen design with minimal cost, this can give the illusion of a floating worktop when combined with an island or in this case, peninsula. Working height of 903mm we used bespoke base and wall units to fit around the angles. Added a bespoke drinks cabinet as a showstopper when entertaining, which can be hidden behind 155 degree hinging doors. We also incorporated a built under a wine cooler on the seating side of the peninsula which makes it easier for guests to grab a drink without disturbing the cook. Bespoke open shelving along the stepped-out wall to create clean lines and character and display their personal style.

End result
Utilise all the space, with lots of storage and bespoke furniture to create drama and character to a kitchen where it is functional and for entertaining. Most importantly, we had a happy client and gave them what was important for their dream kitchen.

Jonathan SalmonJonathan Salmon, the designer, utilized the natural light streaming into this kitchen from the ample windows and backyard paired with the light yellow color of the cabinets to give this kitchen a fun, playful feel, while still creating class. When adding in the furniture and appliances, each object was chosen thoughtfully to complete the overall classic picture.

Opening up and connecting these living spaces, and increasing access to natural light has permitted the use of a dark colour palette. The finishes combine natural Australian hardwoods with synthetic materials, such as Dekton porcelain and Italian vitrified floor tiles

Granite countertops can last a lifetime. It contains no harmful chemicals and do not emit harmful radiation or gasses. Granite is heat resistant and is one of the most heat-resistant countertops on the market. You can place a hot pan out of the oven directly onto the countertop surface. Experts do recommend the use of a trivet when using appliances that emit heat for long periods of time, such as crockpots. Since the material is so dense, there is a small possibility heating one area of the top and not the entire thing, could cause the countertop to crack.
Granite is scratch resistant. You can cut on it, but it will dull your knives! Granite scores a seven on Moh’s hardness scale.
Granite countertops are considered to be a low maintenance countertop surface. The likelihood of needing to be repaired or resurfaced is low. Granite is a porous material. Most fabricators will apply a sealer to granite countertops before they are installed which will protect them from absorbing liquids too quickly. Many sealers last more than 10 years before needing to be reapplied. When they do need to be reapplied, it is something that most homeowners can do on their own as the process is similar to cleaning. Darker granites are very dense and sometimes don’t even require a sealer.
When it comes to pricing, there are a lot of variables such as edge profile, total square footage, backsplash, etc. Don’t be fooled by the stereotype that all granite is expensive. Lower-range granites will cost less than high-range laminate. Though granite countertops are not considered “low range” in pricing, there are a lot of affordable options.
If you are looking for something truly unique, consider an exotic granite. Some quarries are not easily accessible and/or only able to be quarried for short periods of time throughout the year. If these circumstances exist in a quarry with gorgeous stone, the price will be driven upward.
You won’t find a lot of solid patterns or bright colors, but both do exist. Also, watch for a large range of color and pattern within the same color of stone. It’s always a good idea to view the exact slab(s) that will be fabricated for your kitchen to make sure they are what you expected to see from the sample. Another factor is that many exotic types of granite have huge flowing waves, and a small sample will not be an accurate representation of the whole slab.
Granite countertops are very resistant to chemicals. Acids and bases will not harm the material.

Беседка барбекю проектировалась на имеющемся бетонном прямоугольном основании. Желанием заказчика было наличие массивного очага и разделочных поверхностей для максимально комфортной готовки, обеденного стола на 12 человек и мест для хранения посуды и инвентаря. Все элементы интерьера беседки выполнены по индивидуальному проекту. Особенно эффектна кухня, выполненная из чугуна с отделкой термодеревом. Мангал, размером 1.2*0.6 м , также индивидуален не только по дизайну, но и по функциям ( подъёмная чаша с углем, система поддува и пр.). Мебель и стол выполнены из термолиственницы. На полу плитка из натурального сланца. Позднее было принято решение закрыть внешние стены беседки прозрачными подъёмными панелями, что позволяет использовать её в любую погоду. Благодаря применению природных материалов, беседка очень органично вписалась в окружающий пейзаж.
