A Definite Difference
Amazingly the footprint of this kitchen was only increased by eight square feet. By taking away the angled wall and the walls themselves, the room became much larger. The relocation and reconfiguration of the window also contributed in a significant way and made a dramatic difference in the design and functionality of the room. The primary wall was designed using drywall elements to frame the cabinets and specific kitchen functions.
The minimalist motif is beautifully executed in a handle free design. The unique vertical channel for the fridge wall also allows for no handles on this wall. Classic white and black gloss cabinets are set against Montauk Black slate flooring and white quartz countertop. The back- painted glass backsplash continues with the minimalist theme.
A very small (2”) ceiling drop to suit the tall cabinet standard became an important defining feature for this new open concept room and allowed for an interesting ceiling design.
