What color to paint cabinets
We have always had stained kitchen cabinets and we have always built our homes except for this house. We completed renovating the bathrooms and now it's time for the kitchen. This new house's kitchen is small and has dark oak cabinets plus brown-black granite (IMO - ugliest granite I've ever seen) which does not match the cabinet color and was poorly installed. I've decided to go with painted cabinets and a stained center island.
I picked out my back splash first to determine the kitchen color scheme. I feel in love with Artistic Tile's Granada Smoke. It's hard to tell from this picture but there is blue in the gray. The creamy looking part is Blanco Antico granite. Plus gray glass.
Countert top? Granite was too busy and hard to match. And, believe it or not, we could not find a quartz that would match. It was either too creamy colored or too white. Our fabricator has about 6 different lines of quartz in his showroom.
So the counter top we chose is Calacatta Quartzite. The movement in the quartzite was smoother and the gray and blue in the quartzite matches very nicely with the tile.
My dilemma is what color to paint the cabinets? Having painted cabinets will be very new to us but I do like the look. I'd like to tie in the color of the back splash. I just don't know if off-white cabinets will look like dingy. Would it be okay to go lighter than what's in the tile? Do I need to match it?

(3) commentiHello Will, if you want to 'conceal' the fireplace you just need to paint the brick part as the other walls. Otherwise, if you want to make it stand out, you can paint the mantel in a rusty color, similar to bricks. It would be nice also a wooden beam. Vecchie tavole in legno verniciate, poi scarteggiate per effetto "vissuto" e poi protette con trasparente (se si allarga la foto si vedono le vecchie tracce di fori e le venature) che bel lavoro e bello l'effetto! (33) commentiCiao Katia si ho dipinto io la cucina con la Chalk Paint. Ho sgrassato bene, e leggermente scartavetrato. Poi ho passato tre mani di colore ed una di protezione. Non è difficile, solo un po' lungo. Ho usato il rullo, non il pennello... mostra di piùin a kitchen with two different colored cabinets,

6 anni faI also thought a nice light warm grey for the cabinets would be nice; you could also go with a warm white and then accent the island in grey or so the cabinets in a light grey and then the island in a slightly darker grey. It is a very lovely backsplash, it looks like it leans toward green on my screen? Is that correct

Yes, the picture of the back splash does look like it has a green hue. But it actually has some steel blue in it. The glass, to me, is more of a "greige". It's a warm gray.
Since we've never had painted kitchen cabinets (all our bathrooms are though) I was a little nervous of getting anything that wasn't white or off white. I did initially think of a "greige" color for the cabinets. But the decorators that have seen the back splash and counter top thought it might be too monochromatic.
I'm going to get actual paint samples (off-white, light greige), paint some boards and take them, with the back splash, to see which looks best.

Silver Mist by SW is a very pale light blue/green. Get a sample to try on the walls. This doesn't show the greenish undertones. Very subtle.

6 anni faI uploaded your second image of the backsplash into Sherwin Williams ColorSnap and here are some of their suggested colors. Polite White and Pussywilliow are nice choices since you want a lighter choice in cabinets. I still think that having a darker contrasting island is the way to go! Do you have photos of your kitchen?
