Redecorating bedroom with fitted wardrobes - help!

I have just moved back to my rented house in London and have asked the landlord for a budget to re-do my bedroom! At the moment the door and wardrobes / tables are a sort of magnolia while the walls are an off-White but it's such a beautiful room and I think it could look so much better but I have no idea what colours would do it justice. I was thinking of a light grey but just need some tips! We won't be able to get Farrow and Ball or anything but a couple of nice Dulux colours would be well within budget! Also the curtains are dark purple but I am thinking of replacing them if they don't go. I hope someone can help - totally clueless over here!

There's quite a lot of painting involved in those cupboards! Instead, I'd paint the walls, add a headboard (something contemporary) change the wardrobe knobs and put in nice floor length curtains.....

Yes I agree I wouldn't paint all those wardrobes unless you are totally committed and have the time and energy, I would paint the walls, you could go for the grey you liked and add a head board, new linen, cushions, I would put a Roman blind in a beautiful fabric to maximise the spacious look of the room. Take a look at my website and contact me if you need any further advice, products or colour choices, that's my job! Good luck keep us posted!

We're all for a bit of hard work, and would definitely paint the cupboards. You are right not to use F&B, it's an inferior paint compared to dulux, and not correct for your purposes, being Eggshell finish. Dulux Trade Satinwood is far better, gives a better finish and is hardwearing. ( It's also more expensive than F&B i'm afraid, but you get what you pay for ).

I'd paint the cupboards in a pale grey and replace the knobs. Give the area behind the bed a good dark grey finish, to help with making your choice of headboard really stand out.

A quick rough paint idea using Dulux Night Jewels 2 and 6

Thank you all so much for your help! The wardrobes need a good lick of paint anyhow so I'm happy to put the time in :). Hadn't thought about new headboard but will definitely add it to the list. And thank you so much for the edited drawing - how do you do that?! Jessica

Hey Jessica we would recommend you use a soft neutral but make sure its on the colour spectrum of grey eg a green grey or a beige grey otherwise grey itself can be very cold. Paint the cupboards a lovely fresh white and get curtains in the same white to open up the space, the grey colour on the wall and if a hardboard isn't in the budget definitely some artwork above the bed.

    Good luck!

I would definitely recommend looking at dulux paints, we used Night Jewels 5 which was quite a light grey but in a darker room it looks quite dark

    Hi

You could have a faux leather feature wall (headboard)
