is this a european style wood stove? i've never seen one like it

    Yes, its really common in northern Europe, its a fireplace made by bricks to warm the house/apartment, not for cooking, kind of like a radiator. In Swedish its called a kakelugn.

    so are these available on the market or is this vintage? and the door looks really small, i guess you can only burn small pieces of wood in it? so beautiful, yet functional, apparently.

    Yes these are vintage, after the 30's the centralheatingsystem in many houses made them useless (in some eyes) so many of them where torn down sadly.

    You can't fit big logs in there but because how its build it don't need that much wood to keep it warm, but its really beautiful when its lit.

    but the doors don't look transparent, so what changes visually when it's lit? it is actually beautiful as is, the detail is exquisite.
