Might not be feasible to move the location of washer and dryer.

Have built in cupboards above and to the left. Put a slab of counter

on top of applicances to keep things on. Could you built a cabinet on the small opposite wall.

Rather than separate the washer and dryer, if possible (and your connections are long enough) slide them both to one side. Make sure you can open the door of the room and the door of the appliances. That way, with the space you have, you will have enough room for a small bottom kitchen base cabinet...like at Lowes or Home Depot or a place that makes kitchen cabinets.....you could even put a rolling cart in there to pull out and fold laundry on. Then for the stuff you have on the shelf, baskets, baskets, baskets and label them for soap, spot remover, softener, iron, miscellaneous/junk. Put a broom/mop/duster holder on the back of your laundry door. My DIL has red appliances like yours...very nice.

How about stacking the W/D to gain some space for cabinetry?

Here is a laundry room with built in cabinets, I included a set of drawers below both appliances as to elevate and making it easier to change laundry, you can add a counter top and raise the upper cabinets up a foot if you want a place to hold folded laundry. The linen could house a clothing rod, adjustable shelves, Broom, Mop, vacuum., whichever your prefer:)

Thank you so much for the wonderful ideas!

I going to clean the room this weekend and check if by moving the washer and dryer I can get a better picture.

Gain some square footage inside the laundry area by replacing the swinging door with barn door style sliders.

Above the washer and dryer add a shelf, put 4 baskets: whites, dark's and colors, and a basket that holds your laundry detergents.

To the left of the washer and dryer along the back wall add a shelf where you can fold the clothes along with another basket for folded clean clothes. Under that shelf put bins for your misc items.
