Bathroom tile dilemma

I have decided to go for white subway tiles in my new bathroom, with a light grey grout (like the image attached). The floor will be a light grey concrete-like tile (again, like the attached image) I was originally going to have the subway tiles in the shower area only and then paint the rest of the bathroom white.
Now I am wondering if I should tile the entire bathroom or will it make it look smaller/busier?
Or should I just tile the shower area and the opposite wall where there will be a wall hung vanity unit, a toilet and a large mirror? Or do you have any other options that would suit it better?
Also, since the bathroom is very small, would it be better to go for a light floor or will it look alright with the light grey tiles?

(11) commentiCiao Alberto, premesso che non sono un interior, converrebbe tu postassi una pianta del bagno completa di arredi, 1.42 non è il massimo ma dipende da cosa devi metterci. Casomai fatti aiutare dal professionista ci sono misure standard da rispettare per render funzionale l'uso del w.c Prova a valutare anche la possibilità di tunnel di luce per evitare l'effetto cantina delle bocche di lupo, ti consiglio una soluzione "artigianale", alcune aziende li commerciano ma i commenti non sono entusiasmanti. (20) commentiPer fortuna la porta è a scrigno così non sbatte contro la doccia; nello schizzo il muro in cui si "impacchetta" lo scrigno è segnato da 70 ma in realtà è 85, il piatto doccia rimane tutto entro quel muro. Comunque se fosse a battente ci sbatterebbe di sicuro! In pianta effettivamente la zona di wc e bidet sembra più angusta di quello che si percepisce nella realtà, forse perché, ad altezza occhi, la larghezza è maggiore perché dietro a WC e bidet è stato riempito fino a 120 per mettere la cassetta (suppongo). In effetti il dubbio c'era così abbiamo provato a posizionare gli elementi: tutto sommato ci si siede e ci si alza senza fastidio e, quando si è seduti, la sensazione non è di particolare soffocamento. Avevamo valutato di ruotare di 90° ma vorremmo proprio evitare di chiamare anche muratore e idraulico oltre al piastrellista. La cosa un po' critica è invece il passaggio tra lavabo e sanitari: abbiamo fatto qualche prova con dei cartoni ed effettivamente se non troviamo un mobile piccolo e poco profondo il passaggio risulta stretto. Sto cercando un lavabo a sbalzo con una mensola di profondità max 35 e larghezza max 70: avvicinandomi più possibile alla doccia a quel punto la diagonale di passaggio sarebbe circa 53/54cm. Il problema è che i lavandini di sto tipo che ho trovato a cifre abbordabili prevedono rubinetto a muro. Altrimenti un freestanding più spostato verso la doccia compatibilmente con carico e scarico.... mostra di più

9 anni faWhether a room looks smaller or larger with the use of tile depends on the quality of the tile and glaze. I good quality tile will make the room look larger whereas a poor quality has no depth of glaze or ability to play with light so it will make it look smaller. I suggest the New Yorker Bright White that is 3x12 inches as it will not be as busy as a traditional subway tile that is 3x6 inches. This would be a good choice for your project.
If the room is small then a dark floor can create a funnel effect and make the room seem even smaller. A light grey floor should work. The problem with trying to show anything with a picture is that it doesn't really represent what the room would look like. For display areas and photographs we always have to use more contrast in design than we normally do for actual applications.

9 anni faThis is another example on a more modern take on the classic subway. Wainscoting a small room can tend to make it look smaller and is too traditional for the look you are trying to achieve.
