Black or black and white check would look gorgeous with that setting.

I like the very last iteration, except for the proportions, as you point out. Can you skip the place mat, but instead do a table cloth with the same brown and white combo as the place mat?

I lime your last iteration if the cabbage leaf is excluded. It seems a bit too-extra and the pretty, neutral monotone is rather you, no?

You could:

Cover the walls with curtains. You could use a ceiling track (Ikea) to hang them.

Or, paint the walls and then mostly cover them with storage- bookcases, drawers, armoire.

Or, glue (construction adhesive) cork tiles or beadboard paneling to the walls.

Grip strip vinyl planks would be good on the floor.

You will need a lot more lighting- hopefully you have outlets in there.

The walls aren't bad. The duct, plastic pipes and black pipes are not good. I'd start with a colorful tile floor. You can get peel-and-stick vinyl tile pretty cheaply. Then, I'd paint the ductwork to match a color on the tile. I'd paint a coordinating stripe on the walls. Then, with some furniture, it might look quite different.
