Got my peony root starts. I had forgotten the name of the variety, but yeah I remember now.
In my old life, I had a day lily border with varieties that I chose BECAUSE OF THEIR NAME. I had found named varieties that represented almost everyone in my family...
Well, here it's peonies named for my grandkids, I guess. I have the C peonies which have the same name as C (a no-brainer) but for the boyz, I just don't think that I'll find anything with their actual names. So, I chose "Sword Dance" bc what little boy doesn't love playing with swords?
ROFL
This is what they looked like the day I ordered them at the farm. Very upright growing flower scapes, hence the name, methinks?
And here is what the internet shows for this variety...
The centers start out more yellow, and go to a deeper red after a few days...

Duckie, do it! It will be an awesome memory, not just for the kids but everyone else. I still have fond memories of me and my sisters bringing husbands and kids for trick or treat night to my mom’s house. We parents had so much fun walking around with the kids and mom would get pizza, etc. The kids (cousins) had a blast with each other.
Those were awesome years. Older sis was still doing Thanksgiving and it was not unusual for mom and her to be toasted more than the turkey. Even OB was around for that back then which makes me kinda sad because my family isn’t as much fun anymore, and there’s too many of us now to get scrunched in a house. He loved my family.
Seems everyone is having grandma experiences and I’m still waiting….but, I’m on my second childhood so that’s ok. Yesterday OB and I were cleaning up at his dad’s house and he stuck me on the quad. 😳 I’ve never been on one let alone operate it. I did ok but then he climbed on and took me for some real rides. There I was going fast and holding on to my boyfriend! Goodness…I felt like a schoolgirl and I loved every minute of it. 😁

I found a way to get “happy” light into the kitchen/great room throughout this Fall. The little tree is from Amazon ($16) and I found the cookie jar for $15 at HomeGoods. I’ll leave the teddy bear there until we’re closer to Thanksgiving and then I’ll bring out the Indian Lady and Puritan Lady figurines that I love for that holiday season. I like having that little bit of light on the counter throughout the Fall season. I usually have a lit Christmas tree there after Thanksgiving and maybe I’ll have to see if Amazon has a “Springtime” tree. 😊
