AI and design apps can definitely help with inspiration and visualizing different directions, but I’d avoid trying too many styles at once - that can actually make the process more overwhelming.

Start with one or two inspiration images you truly love and identify what they have in common: color palette, wood tones, furniture shapes, fabrics and lighting. Then choose the larger pieces first and layer in lighting, rugs, art and accessories afterward.

At Avenue Design, we usually approach a room as a complete composition rather than choosing each piece independently. If you establish the overall direction first, every decision that follows becomes much easier.

Many rug vendor sites have a rug visualizer tool. The “see it in your room” feature. You can go to various rug sites and upload your room pics and try out rugs in your space. When you find one that you like, you can order the smallest size to see it in person and check for color, texture, etc., before you order the large size for your space.

You can also use AI to try out various decor looks in your space. ChatGPT is a popular AI site.
