After making the decision to move to Kirkland, we wanted to find a home to remodel that allowed us to customize our living environment to support both our lifestyle and two large dogs. We landed on Lane Williams Architects by looking at homes in Queen Anne and other neighborhoods around the area where we loved the style of the home. We found that Lane and his team’s designs were not all the same and they each had their own character while being both modern and Northwest functional. It was very important to us that our new home would not look like a big “modern” box but have more architectural elements that set it apart from many of the contractor homes in Kirkland. While Lane served as our supervisory architect, it was Kellen White who was our main point of contact. We fully enjoyed working with both Lane and Kellen due to their mutual respect for each other. We were able to look at renderings of the house digitally which allowed us to easily conceptualize our new home. Kellen was also readily available during the week via phone, Zoom and in-person which made it much easier for us to stay on track with our deadlines. Kellen was also very good at the interior design and helped us with many of our interior finishes to ensure the flow of the three floors worked well without being boring. We were able to stay on track with our budget, very difficult to do with a remodel, due to Lane and Kellen’s ability to develop creative solutions that prevented our home from being “just another modern home” in Kirkland. Lastly, we found that we developed a relationship with both Lane and Kellen that allowed us to have our own opinions and design choices without impacting the overall design aesthetics we love about Lane’s designs. We highly recommend Lane Williams and his team and would use them again if we ever make the crazy decision to remodel again (we have done three already).

Lane Williams and his team epitomize world-class, top-of-the-line architecture. Our family home was under construction for over a year with no end in sight and many complications arising when Lane and Kellen stepped in and saved everything. Their expertise, knowledge, attention to detail and professionalism can’t be beat. They had an immediate vision for us, were able to work through strict city codes and create a true masterpiece. The seamless structural transitions between spaces and artistic custom touches are magnificent. The finished product is beyond anything we imagined. We met Lane & Debra at Paul Bar, a local watering hole. We quickly discovered our common love of Palm Springs. We shared our happiness with our home in the Old Las Palmas neighborhood and our desire to make some improvements to it (built in 1952). Lane offered to help us and very quickly met us at our home to listen to our goals. He understood that we wanted our home to be better suited for visits from our adult children while updating and opening up the living area. Lane Williams’ team designed our dream vacation house on Monterey Peninsula in California. We had an unconventional vision to build a compound: a group of structures that fit perfectly together on the most beautiful site, disconnected physically but united aesthetically providing opportunities to spend time together yet allowing for privacy. Lane's execution met all these challenges. The structures for sleeping with their thought-out proportions and orientation are located perfectly on site creating a beautiful outdoor courtyard - a perfect place to congregate. All the pathways lead to the main "living" house with ample spaces for dining, playing, watching, talking - enjoying each other’s company early in the morning or late into the night. It is a perfect place for us to be at on our own or host a large party of family and friends where everyone has a space to retreat for privacy or a bit of quiet time. Lane was instrumental in working with the builder throughout the construction which took place during COVID. The most detailed meticulous plans and ongoing communication left nothing for guess-work – most remarkable “remote” construction management. The result is absolutely flawless. We have been enjoying this retreat for over a year now hosting a number of gatherings large and small. It is a happy place for us and our family and friends, a place that provides unique opportunity for one to step aside and be “one with nature” and then return to the boisterous fun.

We completely remodeled our 26th floor condo, with one freight elevator, concrete walls and columns that don't move and with limited construction hours. Myra and I started with Lane Williams, on to Joseph McKinstry construction and Amy Baker Designs. Lane Williams was the Principal Architect, Kellen the Project Architect; Wes Yang with McKinstry along with Mark Dilbe overseeing the construction/subs and of course Amy Baker. Lane, Kellen and Amy worked extremely well together to give the best design and Kellen, Amy and Mark on site with creative ideas and problem solving in this concrete environment. Wes was also great to work with, always available to my calls and emails and an outstanding and accurate billing process. They all worked extremely well together even in the mist of Covid's arrival. The two standouts for me is the kitchen design and the ceiling design in the living/kitchen area and master bedroom. Myra and I would go back to the great team in a heartbeat. Myra and Mike McCoy

Lane, Trevor and company worked on two projects together, a down-to-studs remodel of our Woodinville home, and the design of our Lake house. Lane and team have impecable taste, a great eye for details, and we enjoyed the process of working on the design of both projects collaborativley. Our 11 year old remodel, doesnt look dated at all, and still all the finishes are pretty timeless. Highly recommend them for the style, smart -timeless-modern.

We have admired Lane's work for years; often driving through neighborhoods to look at the homes he has designed. We were finally in a position to build our own home and were lucky enough to work with Lane. His eye for design, high standards and attention to detail are exceptional. We couldn't be happier with the end result of our home and the almost daily compliments we receive are a testament to Lane and his very talented team of designers.

Our custom home building journey began with a phone call to Lane Williams. We needed an architect that would create our dream home with all our needs including capturing the amazing City view, Space Needle, and Lake Union. Lane Williams accomplished it all and exceeded our expectations. Lane incorporated all our wants and needs into a beautiful, modern design. Our home is "one of a kind" due to Lane's creativity, knowledge of materials and lighting that enhances the living experience. We can't imagine ever leaving this home. However, if we do, Lane Williams will be our architect!

Our project was halted by the COVID-10 pandemic. We decided to jump back in recently but decided not to continue with LWA after receiving an email thread from him to his partner Kellen that read, "It is small and therefore not particularly profitable, nor a great design opportunity." I was very open about our budget of $300-350K and he said that it was reasonable so we went ahead and put down a $7500 deposit. Then came a bid that put us way over budget, and when asked how accurate it could be, LWA kept telling us that it depended on the rest of the design choices. But it seemed like every time we tried to finish the design, we were being stalled. LWA really wanted us to pick a contractor he had not worked with before and at one point was resisting helping us to get another bid. The interactions did seem right and I am sure our project was pretty small compared to the million dollar homes he regularly works on, but for us it was still one of the biggest investments we were going to be making as a family for many year to come and we expected to be treated better by a professional. I also felt the communication was inconsistent and ultimately we walked away with a $7500 loss simply because we couldn't imagine working with someone on such a big project with this dynamic.

As the owner/ builder of this project, Lane Williams and his design team were instrumental in the successful outcome by providing a great process from start to finish. The initial design phase was comprised of several in-person design meetings, quickly followed by 3D design renderings and plan sets. Always open to ideas, and professional enough to walk us through the tricky permit process and approval. Lane also has a very comprehensive sub-contractor list which was very helpful. His use of the latest design 3D software was fantastic, which allowed us to virtually walk through the house before any work began. As the builder, I was able to "virtually-show" my subcontractors what I was talking about, which allowed everyone to be on the same page. Wonderful experience. Thank you, Troy Adams

LWA is AMAZING. We chose to do our custom home remodel with Lane Williams on the recommendation of a friend. We were completely naive to the process and had only a few basic ideas about what we wanted to do. Lane and his team guided us EXPERTLY. They thought about the big picture, but also the small personal details that made it OUR custom home.
