We recently (summer 2023) had our 14 year old wooden deck replaced with the Trex premium product and a custom cut glass railing. The end result was more than we expected and our neighbours are commenting on how great it looks. The attention to detail and workmanship is second to none and the staff are friendly, courteous, experienced and professional. The entire project remained on time and on budget. and we look forward to enjoying our new deck for many years. We just replaced a 30+ year old grey deck and gazebo that had reached it’s lifespan with a new composite deck and cedar gazebo. We hired Forest Fence and Deck for the project and so glad we did. From the onsite consultation with Paul to visiting their In-Dexx decking showroom in Newmarket to finalize our choice of material style and colour with Dave to the whole building process, it was truly a first class experience. Their demo team took away our old deck with no issues at all and we had the pleasure of Gary and Simon do the helical post installation and the complete building of the new deck and gazebo. They did a a fantastic job. Always on time, courteous, organized, kept a very clean jobsite and gave us progress updates every day and their level of workmanship and expertise is outstanding. As for Trex Composite decking, it is in our opinion the best on the market. We chose the Jasper in Trex's Transcend Lineage Series. It’s so nice to work with a company that does exactly what they say they’re going to do! When we contacted Dave Loader regarding replacing our old deck he came right over. No waiting! We expected the deck to be done in late summer or September. In July Dave called me to let me know that he can do the deck in late July. We were thrilled! That means we can enjoy the new deck for a few months this year. His team was punctual and very courteous. They start work very early and finish early but the job gets done. It took one hour to take down the old deck and that same day to drill the new posts. Finally when the new deck was being built the two guys were exceptionally detailed. Didn’t miss a thing. I’m pretty picky and was watching the whole process but they didn’t disappoint! All I can say is that highly recommended Forest Deck and Fence.

Delighted with my new Trex deck from every angle. Product is outstanding.. I will not miss the nails, sanding, sun damage, rot and splinters. But the entire sales experience with Dave was super and installation was done by master craftsmen.... without having o wait forever.

We are very pleased with our deck recently installed by Forest Fence and Deck. Our 20+ year old deck had reached its lifespan. This opportunity to upgrade and resize was perfect. We had consultations with a couple of contractors to determine what direction we could take and visualize the finished product. The Team at Forest Deck and Fence had a lot of correct answers for us and also provided valuable input with ideas on design etc. We had started the process in December 2021 and our deck was completed in mid-July 1. The project included old deck removal, ( which was a half day to demolish and remove), installation of Pro Post Foundations ( a 3 hour project to install 7 footings) and then the deck build. We had a number of Team members complete our deck, and each one had a specialty in build, assembly or construction. Cleanup after every workday was the norm. We will note that due to the height of our deck, it was necessary to have a building permit. COVID did impact that process as we had to do all application work on line, versus face to face meetings at the City Office. The issuance of the permit took over 4 months. We did our own permit application, and suggest that you pay the little extra to have a professional deal with that aspect. So, after all was said and done, we have a larger, modern, quality built deck with the latest in Composite materials from TREX . We are extremely pleased with the results and are enjoying , with the glass inserts in the railing, a of view activity in our pool without peaking through ballisters. This review is a year in the making. Dave and his team installed a Trex deck and pergola for us in 2021. Later that same year, we asked them to install the ShadeFX for the pergola as our backyard gets sun all day. He was very responsive to our questions and truly delivered to address our needs. We could not be happier with the end result. From conception to the finished product, the quality of their work and utmost professionallism are unmatched. We consistently get rave reviews from our family and friends on our little backyard oasis. We highly recommend Forest Fence and Deck and are confident in their delivery.

We hired Forest Fence to build a deck and a balcony. They worked at our neighbour's house a few years ago and we liked their work. I must say that we are extremely pleased with the whole experience. They communicate very well and stand by their word. They had to cut a chainlink fence to be able to get access to our property and they reinstalled it at no extra charge. They also agreed to replace, at no extra cost a couple of fence boards that were damaged in the process. The project started in the early Spring as per our request. It took only 6 days of work to remove the existing structures and build the new ones. Our new decks look stunning and are very well built. Simon and his teammate did an amazing job. When they left, we were all set to enjoy our new deck and balcony. We couldn't be happier and have already recommended Forest Fence to our friends and neighbours. Look no further.

Was looking to replace our 10+ year deck which was falling apart to the point it became a hazard for my 3 year old daughter. My wife and I started looking at our options for replacing the old deck with either new composite decking or stone work. After contacting a few companies, we were referred to Forest Fence & Deck. Dave came to the house and right off the bat it was a pleasant chat. We went over the current look of the deck and his vision of what the new deck would look like. Once Dave sent a concept drawing of the new deck for our review, he was very patient with all my questions and offered possible suggestions/ideas. When we finally decided to go with Forest, the crew was knowledgeable, efficient and very pleasant to deal with. My wife and I had a few additional items that were not confirmed yet even after the crew removed the old deck and started building the frame. Once we confirmed the additions, Dave and the team were very receptive and offered suggestions on where it would look like the best. For example we ordered deck lights with not knowing where to have them installed and Josh from the crew took 10 mins to walk us thru where it would look the best. The whole process took less than 2 weeks. After seeing each stage from removing the old deck and noticing the frame was rotted and falling apart to seeing the steel footings being installed to knowing the workmanship involved in the framing to the quality of the composite, it is very reassuring and offers peace of mind to know this deck is built to last and looks amazing. In addition it is now a safe area for my daughter to play in. I highly recommend anyone looking into redoing or adding a deck to contact Forest. You are good hands with Dave and his team! We recently moved to Port Perry into an older home requiring extensive renovations including the removal of a 40’ deck with a hot tub built in. The project involved a full tear down then a new build of a 12 x 22 Trex deck elevated at 8 ‘ above ground with stairs to ground level. After our initial contact Elisabeth was out to consult and a draft was available within a couple of days. Given Covid and materials shortfalls we were surprised when they were able to schedule us in for a fall build. Their construction team were professional, courteous and meticulous during both the tear down and new build. The last pieces of railing finally came in and the guys finished off in a snow squall. They even moved our Muskoka chairs and BBQ up on the deck for us. We live in an Adult Community and Forest came to us as a referral from our neighbours as well as our Board members. Forest Fence and Deck just completed our new Trex Deck today. We were getting a little nervous as it was getting late in the year and we needed it done this year, so that we could proceed with a major landscaping project next year. There was no need to be concerned. Mike, Chris and Peter worked through driving rain, snow and freezing cold and got the job done. It was an absolute pleasure to work with them and the final product is amazing, definitely beyond our expectations! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a truly stunning deck. Forest had a plan all along. A few things changed in the plan and they always kept us informed and gave us the relevant details. We are extremely happy with our new Trex deck constructed for us by Forest Fence & Deck Company. Every stage of the project was explained and a couple of minor adjustments were discussed and resolved with professionalism. Our next door neighbour is a Professional Engineer and he watched the deck being built from his home office window. He told us over the fence that "these guys know what they are doing and go beyond what is required". The work site was cleaned up every afternoon and tools and equipment were neatly stored in preparation for the next morning. The crew arrived on time every morning and were always friendly and pleasant.

They have a very professional team. Not only their marketing team, their designers but also their building team are always customer-centered. They do provide outstanding service and I am highly satisfied. I definitely recommend them.

TO THE STAFF AT FOREST FENCE & DECL - Just wanted to take a minute – now that it’s summer - to let you know how much we love our new Trex deck! I’m on it in bare feet all the time never even having to worry about another sliver. And it’s so solidly well-built. So glad we picked you for our install. PERFECTION!!!

We had a 20+ year old wooden deck that was rotting and falling apart. On a whim, we stopped at the In-Dexx store-front in Newmarket and met Dave who introduced us to Trex composites and explained the entire process from design, to permit, to deck build and helped us out with samples to take home. He came out to visit our property and we told him what we wanted to try to do, he took some measurements, and very soon afterwards we had a 3D design to view from multiple angles to get an idea of how it could look. After signing a contract, we were given engineering plans suitable for submission for the building permit, and we were set to go. After getting the permit, Gary from Forest Fence and Deck called to arrange tear-down and removal of our existing deck, and the building of the new framing (including helical piers, which were new to me, but really cool), and this all happened very quickly. Then we had a small wait for the Trex to arrive from the US (COVID delays everything), but the actual building of the deck surface took less than 2 days (Chris and Mike were awesome to work with). We are extremely happy with how everything turned out. The deck looks amazing, including the pergola and privacy screen in cedar. The whole team from In-Dexx and Forest Fence and Deck were extremely easy to work with and accommodating of my questions and requests, with excellent communication at all stages of the project and fantastic implementation of our vision. The deck is about 600sqft in two levels, running the whole width of our house, with a landing and steps down from the back doors, as well as a privacy screen and railing on one end and a pergola covered living area on the other end.

From our very first interaction on the phone to the completion of our deck, the entire team at Forest has been outstanding! I am a designer and it was my first time using Forrest Fence & Deck for my own yard in building a custom Pergola for us. I was very impressed with the attention and willingness to work with my wants on the design I drew out and the ideas provided by them as well. They were quick and easy to work with and the outcome is truly impressive as we opted for a floating bench and side planter with a more modern take on feet supports. The roof slats and walls also are a great feature and I plan to stain some of this for added look. Gary and Paul were a pleasure to deal with and the boys who came in were on time, quick, very clean, hardworking and respectful. We are truly happy and I would highly recommend using them and will look to use them in my future for clients as well.

We worked with Dave in designing the deck and he was very patient and helpful in incorporating our thoughts and made his recommendations which were very good. His suggestion of getting the gas line for our firepit while the deck was being built was a great idea. The work was done in a timely manner. The team who built the deck were excellent and gave us regular updates. We also found the price to be reasonable and have been enjoying our deck a lot as we have all been at home so much in 2020. After 2 years of enjoying the deck, we wanted a side gate added to our deck and even though they are extremely busy at this time, Dave accommodated our request and arranged for the gate to be installed with the same great service. We got four quotes but the one from Forest Fence & Deck was by far the most comprehensive and reasonable in cost. Even with Covid, they were able to obtain the product and start on the predetermined date. Chris and Micael arrived early each day, worked hard and completed our three tier deck within the week. Forest Fence and Deck completed a major deck and balcony deck at my home. They did an amazing job, that was professional, clean and with meticulous attention to detail and quality. Great project and their Team was great!! Detailed quote with options and engineered foundation drawings.....well beyond what was given by other Contractors. Fair and completed on time and within the budget.

Total pros. The Forest team started and completed our Trexx deck on the dates they estimated. They took all of our requests and delivered a deck that is beyond our expectations. From initial review of the project with Paul, the estimate, the construction start with Dave, and the job completed by Chris and Mike, we were so comfortable and excited. They each cared and took the time to finish every cut and piece of trim perfectly. We had an area of the deck that would be an awkward edge near an existing structure. They could have just finished that border quickly but they decided it would look better to spend an extra few hours modifying the design with more work. They brought in a machine for the removal of some very large stones prior to starting the job. They laid down large wood panels to save our grass and interlock, but the machine unfortunately cracked 2 paver stones on the side of our house, which they quickly pointed out and replaced at the end of the job. For a premium product I expected it to be nice, but this was far beyond my expectations. They left our home with a work of art in the backyard and our property in better shape than it was when they arrived. Kudos to the team! I'm actually excited to have them back to redo our upper deck within a few years to match the lower deck. I told Dave how happy we were with the deck. His reply was "We knew you would be, but we prefer to show you rather than tell you."

Forest Fence and Deck did a great project for us -- big two level deck, plus a vaulted roof for half a deck. They were super professional, did everything according to our drawing / plan and finished the project faster than we expected. In their quote for the job they were a bit pricier than other contractors (not by much), but it was definitely the right decision for us to go with them. Very satisfied and highly recommend.

We decided to replace and extend our existing backyard deck with a more modern look, using composite decking, glass railings and lighting. Since we had such a wonderful experience with David from Forest Fence and Deck a few years ago with another project, we decided to give them a call for a quote, along with 2 other companies. In the end we opted to use David from Forest since he was superior to the others as far as knowledge, budget, scheduling and very personable. Seriously, you can't ask for more when you are dealing with this company. From the start until finish (now 80% completion), Paul and his crew have demonstrated excellent follow up (the most important factor for home owners!). I am also very lucky that I have 3 extremely fine craftsmen (Ron, Ken and Tim) came to my house to do the deck! Are they expensive compare to others? Yes if you are comparing with some contractors who only want you to sign the work contract but not capable of returning phone calls and using cheaper materials and hiring incompetent craftsmen. I am surprised that they are NOT expensive at all for the quality and expectation you get!! (special mention that I asked Paul to come to my house last year but they were fully booked, so I waited a year for them. But the wait was well worth it!)

The installers turned up on time and got straight on with the work, his team members completed the work exactly how we were told prior on quotation of the price. They cleaned up after and were very polite. We will hopefully get Forest Fence and Deck back to do some more work for us in the future, and we’ll be recommending to any friends and family. I shopped around online for a local deck company but was not impressed so I just search top rated and Forest came up on Houzz and again on Homestars. These guys have done a ton of projects, have a photo gallery of their work and praise from clients. I contacted Forest, made an appointment with Paul and he was out to visit us the next morning. He had many suggestions on the design and material and then worked out a price we could handle. Now the bad part. These guys are in high demand and very busy. Paul warned me that we would have to wait a few months and though disappointed, I had a gut feeling Forest was the best so chose to wait. GLAD WE DID! The good part. Once they get started, it's a production. Forest has all the latest equipment and the installers are professional. The quality of construction and finishing went way beyond our expectations. We are totally satisfied and would recommend Forest Fence & Deck to anyone wanting quality over low budget.

While the project was delayed, due largely to the excessive wet summer weather that we have experienced this year, when I indicated that we needed the project completed by a certain date due to other commitments, the team made every effort to meet this deadline. The work was completed very professionally, and to a high standard. All the workers were polite and friendly. Both I and my neighbour, who shared the cost, are very satisfied with the outcome. The neighbour has additional fencing that he will consider replacing, and would definitely consider engaging Forest Fence to undertake that project.

We recently had a deck built by Forest and couldn't have asked for a better experience. From design through completion, they showed that they are experts in their field and put their customers first. A very professional team handled the construction of the deck itself. We hired Forest to put in a fence to enclose the backyard of our Port Credit bungalow; 210 linear feet, 3 gates. Containment for 2 dogs. Their suggestion on design was great. 6x6 posts, strong mix of 2x8/6/4 boards, and overlapping fence board. The work was done expedient fashion of 4 days. The build quality is outstanding.

We had a new trek deck with glass railings replacing our old deck. The various parts of the job were co-ordinated very well starting with the removal of the old deck to the final install of the lighting and railings. The job was done well with a high level of fit and finish. The sales members gave good advise as to options for the deck. While I did opt for a more expensive finish on the railings we were not pressured in any way to make this selection. Forest Fence and Deck was thoroughly professional in all aspects of the project.

I hired Forest Fence and Deck to build a new deck for me earlier this year. Dave was very helpful with not only designing the deck but also assisting in materials choices, he recommended the ProPost helical piers for the foundation, a system with which I was very impressed. At installation, nine helical piers were installed in a couple of hours and the next day the deck was framed. The carpenter crew were very prompt and tidy and a few days later the deck was completed in time for the May long weekend. The Forest Team were excellent and I would definitely hire them again.

Forest Fence & Deck did an outstanding job on our new pressure treated fence and flower boxes. We found them to be extremely professional and reliable from the time we asked them to quote until the job was completed. They gave us an estimate in early July, scheduled us in for September, arrived on time and completed the job in 4.5 days with zero glitches. This was for over 100' of fencing with extra angles designed in, 2 gates and 2 large flower boxes on a lot that had mature tree roots to dig out. The crew was a pleasure to deal with and Chris, our foreman, really thought through each decision and consulted with me as the work progressed. When they said they were done, they really were completely finished with no cut corners. This company gets my highest recommendation.

We found Forest Fence & Deck at the Toronto Home Show in the spring, and had them come out to give us a quote for a deck in our back yard. We found their quote very reasonable and competitive. We had them come and fix our fence, install a Trex composite deck and assemble a pre-purchased metal gazebo. They did and awesome job! Adam, and contractor actually doing the work, paid attention to little details when finishing things off, came up with solutions to unique problems that arose due to the unique shape of our yard, and completed everything cleanly and precisely. We were thrilled with the finished product and would recommend them to anyone who asks.

I had a Trex composite deck built by Mike and James of Forest Fence and Deck and it is fabulous!! The deck is approximately 12 X 20 feet with a weird angle at one end due to a mutual driveway in Toronto. Mike made sure he planned the framing properly so that the deck boards fit perfectly square and the deck looks amazing. His attention to detail in trimming the boards against the house (wavy surface, not flat concrete) and in trimming the plexiglass in the two windows was impeccable. He put a small window in the riser of one of the steps as well to maximize the light getting to a basement window, which turned out very well. James built a screen for one side of the deck to match an existing fence and to provide a space for the BBQ - looks great! Mike and James were very professional, they cleaned up at the end of each day, consulted me as needed and were always open to my questions and suggestions. As a result, the deck is exactly what I wanted, and even better than I imagined. They even built me a small screen out of the scrap Trex pieces to camouflage my AC, which I moved to the front of the house to maximize the amount of room for the deck in the backyard. I did my homework and contacted 5 companies, received 3 quotes and Forest was the best. I particularly like that they use the galvanized piers instead of pouring concrete footings. Highly recommend this company.

Very soon after my call, Paul came to the house, and emailed me a quote that night, and within the week we had decided to go with them. FF&D did a great job on a tricky fence project over a retaining wall that steps down in my backyard with a slope to a ravine. It is a horizontal cedar fence that looks very stylish. Dave Loader was very helpful and responsive, and very easy to reach, even on weekends. He got the job done quickly and ahead of schedule, and on budget. The quality of work is excellent and the fence looks great. I am already getting compliments from my neighbours.

We are very happy with the result. We got a 12 x 12 deck off the second floor which included a privacy screen and a staircase. We also had them install Rain Escape so we can sit underneath and stay dry. The guys are easy to talk to and will work you to make you happy even if you want last minute changes, which we did. The helical piers were installed quickly and without mess and the rest of the deck was built in four days. We are pleased with the end result and the workmanship and will recommend to anyone.

This was a big deck with a bug room and a hot tub built in. It turned out beautifully. The guys work so well. Clean tidy and always there on time. It was a great pleasure to work with Forest Fence & Deck Company LTD. My husband and I are both very meticulous people. From the start we wanted to hire a company that can do a beautiful job building our deck, and not someone who would cut corners or not pay attention to details. Everyone we had interacted with at Forest seem to be very friendly and after we saw their drawings and diagrams, we were more relieved that they seem to be quite detailed and organized too. The crew did a wonderful job building the deck, a pergola and some lattice extension for us. I can tell there were much thoughts put into the construction process and decision making. When I look at the completed product, I appreciate it as an art creation from the crew. What impressed me the most is the custom window well cover solution they built out at the end -- I had plans to implement a window well cover integrated to the deck, but have to admit what they came up with is better than what I have pictured and planned in my head!!! There were a couple of small issues during the construction process, and the company resolved them quickly and gracefully for us. My husband is also very impressed by their work. Forest Fence removed our old fence and installed a new board on board fence around our back yard. They dug new holes by hand and using a Bobcat where the trees and shrubs allowed. The holes were then widened at the bottom to help prevent frost heave. All the holes were consistently dug to the proper depth. New pressure treated 4x4 posts were installed with concrete using SonoTubes where necessary. String lines were used to ensure straight post lines and all posts were true vertically. The fence panels were installed respecting the existing grading with well planned intervals on slopes. Fence boards were installed with consistent spacing and sufficient overlap to provide privacy. Heavy duty gate hardware (hinges, latch and spring) was used to provide solid functioning and longevity. Post caps were installed to protect post ends. A retaining wall was also installed very competently. The crew foreman was polite and ensured I was consulted where necessary for design decisions. Once started, the crew returned every subsequent day, from early morning until late afternoon, until the fence was completed. I am very pleased with the work performed and would not hesitate to recommend this company's services.

More than 25 years ago I started with Forest Fence and Deck for a retaining wall and a fence. At the next new house in 2000, I had them put in my fence, and at my new home this summer a new deck done with helical piers and to the town's specifications. My wife and I decided to transform our backyard. We wanted a shed (10x12 with a 5ft overhang) and new fence (250 linear feet) put in - after meeting with Dave, we knew that Forest Fence and Deck was the company to go with and they did not disappoint. We hired Forest Fence & Deck to build a 15' x 26' elevated Trex deck. Forest Fence & Deck is truly a top notch operation. Dave, Gary and Simon are three of the most professional and conscientious individuals I've worked with on any home renovation project. This company went all out to design and build us the deck that we dreamed about. Dave is an incredible designer and it was truly a pleasure working with him to design something beautiful. After a number of last minute changes on my part, I figured Dave would want to pack it in and walk away, but he accepted all the changes we wanted and was very reasonable on the prices of the changes. There are a number of companies that quoted on decks for us that provided nice designs, but the one Dave provided was by far the best use of the space and the most visually attractive. It also best captured the vision we had for this project. Gary and Simon built an incredible deck. I stayed home a few days during the construction and observed and they are truly experts in their craft. You can tell by how precise he is, that Gary has been doing this for a very long time and knows exactly what he is doing. Every angle and every cut were so precise. And from a price perspective, nobody even came close to the price that Forest charged us (we got 4 quotes). I have nothing but great things to say about Forest. Truly a top notch company. I normally would never go out of my way to recommend any company or service because people rely on those recommendations to make the right choice. I haven’t because I truly have not had exceptional service and such quality not to mention the dedication until this week. The company was Forest Fence and Deck. I would recommend Forest Fence and Deck for anyone looking for quality workmanship with exceptional service and a company that will go that extra mile to help and get the job done. When I couldn’t find the right material to finish my back deck and had thoughts of just leaving it until the weather got better. That’s when Forest Fence called to see if I could meet at two of their suppliers. I not only found what I was looking for but got a better price. Once they started my deck the weather would not give up. It rained, it snowed and even hail!! Everything was closed that day because of the weather. Our experience withForest Fence and Deck could not have been any better. They were very professional; from the initial contact, design, quote to the fininshed job. This was a fairly big job. They romoved a tree tier old deck; dfesigned a two tier replacement and finished it in cedar with a glass railing. Int took just about 10 working days to complete. The finishing toushes (rilings,steps,skirt and privacy fence) were awesome. I feel priveledged to have worked with them and would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family.

We decided it was time to replace the small builder's deck that came with our home 20 years ago. It was definitely past it's expiry date. There was a safety issue as well. Our home has a walkout basement so this deck is an elevated 2nd floor installation. We looked at a couple of other installations and settled on IPE wood with glass railings. The project was completed on time by a knowledgable and competent crew.
