Working with Mark Canada to create my dream home has truly been an amazing experience. My partner had found him years ago looking for an architect who specialized in passive solar design and after finding the perfect property to build on, we gave him a holler. Upon convincing him we were worthy clients, we discovered that he had painted a series of oil paintings that happened to be named the same street our lot was on...one of the many signs that Mark was perfect for us! We worked through several different designs for our home before settling on our final plan. The creative process Mark led us through in the designing phase allowed me to really put myself in the space and see what was functional and what gave me the feeling I was seeking in being home. We wanted the sense of having plenty of room without having a house that was too big for the two of us. The great room floor plan with the two separated bedroom suites and the massive garage/workshop (attached by a covered breezeway) satisfied that desire. Casey and I, during the course of this design process, had selected many of the interior finishes, fixtures, lighting, appliances, etc. When it came time to interview builders, we had a fairly long list of specifications. Really, when it came down to it, we had already done about a quarter of the work a general contractor does so when we told Mark we wanted to build it ourselves, he was very encouraging. He gave us all the support we needed and it has been one of the most educational endeavors I have ever undertaken. My goal is to host Thanksgiving dinner in my new kitchen. Mark Canada designed a Medical office and a home on Lake Travis; both in Austin Tx. The office was completed in 1985 and the home in 2002. Both projects were beautifully designed and built. Mark was a pleasure to work with. He paid great attention to detail and skillfully guided me to incorporate features I would not have started with, but loved in the finished product. The office is a single story brick structure which looks like a beautiful home, complete with a fireplace. Patients loved it . My home is on a sloping waterfront , wooded lot, projecting to the edge of the cliff on massive steel beams. It features very clean lines with lots of glass and steel. The living room has a 22 ft ceiling, 180 degree view of the lake and salvaged long leaf yellow pine floors. It is a treasure and living there is great. Mark did a superb job.

Mark Canada of Mark Canada Architects built my mother’s house in Westlake near Austin, Texas. The house was absolutely magical. The modern, open style was like nothing I had ever seen before and it was a perfect home for entertaining. I loved the high ceilings and large panels of glass everywhere. The home had an ethereal feel to it, which I absolutely loved. Everyone who came over would ooh and ahh at the unique architecture and design. The house definitely had a very upscale look and feel, yet was still comfortable for living and entertaining. When it came time to build a reception hall for my Hill Country wedding venue outside of Austin, Mark immediately came to mind. His modern yet elegant style fit in perfectly with the location and feel of the venue, and I could not be more pleased with his work. One of my favorite parts of Mark’s modus operandi is his ability to design with the big picture in mind while still focusing on small, surprise details that I still discover after the project is complete. From the specialty fixtures that hang our windows to the little pieces of gems and jewels he imbedded into the mortar of the exterior limestone walls, no detail was overlooked. I still find surprises in the venue building, 4 years later! Since that project in 2012 I have hired him for several other projects on the property, including building a home and loggia. He has expanded his many skills and has also helped with building a memorial garden, vineyard, outdoor wedding park and beer garden. Each project has been an absolute success and I look forward to working with Mark well into the future! I would highly recommend his work to anyone interested in a high-quality, modern and unique design, whether it be for a venue, home or outdoor project.

In 2009 I fell in love with a house that Mark Canada had designed twenty years earlier and purchased it . Several years later when I decided to downsize and move to my ranch I hired him to design a house for me from an existing partially built barn . I had never built a house before and he made the project fun and exciting. I could have never envisioned all the innovative ideas and design of the project. It far exceeded my high expectations. Also on the property he designed a beautiful Pavilion, Beer garden and ceremony site for my wedding business. All my clients fall in love with what he has done. He is a remarkable talent, a calm , guiding force and a joy to work with .
