John is an extremely personable and professional. He identified problems that our first architect missed and helped us achieve an outstanding result. He provided all of the required detailed drawings and made many useful recommendations and suggestions that were taken up along the way. Highly recommended.

We had had some pretty disappointing exposure to Architects previously but were over the moon with the help and involvement that John provided for us. John became part of the family and a vital contributor to all our decisions from the day we started to work together, we were amazed at his depth of involvement and he continued to do things way beyond our expectation throughout the entire project. The advice he gave was always inline with what we had wanted how he aligned his thinking to ours is still beyond me. John recommended and spent our money more carefully than us but never ever took shortcuts, he would visit suppliers with us to fully understand our needs and taste, I'm sure its fair and true to say that John paid for his brief in our savings and lack of mistakes a number of times over. To say we would recommend John is an understatement we would not hesitate to refer people to him and have already done so, should anybody wish to discuss Johns involvement and quality of work we would be delighted to do so. John made our building experience a great adventure and really pleasant event most unlike our previous efforts which ended up well but were really tough getting there.

I engaged JDA to provide a full service including design, development application and construction documents to my new semi detached dwelling project in Rozelle, NSW. The professional service that John provided was of an excellent standard and the value-add aspect of having him involved soon became very clear. JDA had a vision for our site from the outset, which has translated into a stunning house that we love. From concept through to completion, the project was executed professionally and to a very high standard. JDA worked with us to come up with practical but design-led solutions to every challenge. He developed great relationships with sub-contractors and most importantly, our builder! We would definitely hire him again and recommend him as a talented architect.

John has been absolutely fantastic throughout the whole process from initial concept right through to completion, to the point where we have hired him again to help with the exterior pool area design. John took the time to understand our requirements, style and budget to work with the builders to turn it into reality. He was always available to bounce ideas off and came onsite regulary to check the progress and was happy to tweak designs when required. We thoroughly recommend Johns services.

John Deuchrass worked at Turner Architects from 16.09.13 to 31.07.15. John joined the firm as a team member, and quickly progressed to a Project Architect role. John worked on a diverse range of projects including apartment developments ranging in size up to 250 apartments, retail, commercial, interiors and display suites. Projects included Woolooware Bay apartments in Cronulla, Bay Central retail in Cronulla, the Display Suite and Interiors for Royal Shores in Ermington, and Esplanade apartments in Norwest. He worked on these projects at various stages including Feasibility, Masterplan, DA, and Tender Documentation. John had a particular interest in the detail of the facades, and how the various components of the building came together. He enjoyed the detailed investigation of the building materiality and technologies. John was a trusted contact for clients and consultants, and was involved in all meetings and presentations. John’s CAD skills in Archicad and sketch-up are excellent. John’s initiative, strong design skills, positive attitude and inquisitive mind was greatly valued, and his contribution to the office was appreciated by all. As a design professional, I have had the pleasure of working with John on a number of new-build and refurbishment projects in Australia and New Zealand. Whether from colleagues, contractors or clients, John values the input of all those involved in a job. It is evident through my collaborations with him, that the interests of his clients are of utmost priority. During our discussions, he is meticulous in relaying client requirements to ensure that they are incorporated into the design. John is a talented architect with great aesthetic sensibility. He is particularly skillful at generating solutions that address client needs, site and context, all within prescribed planning and budgetary constraints, without compromising on beautiful design. The spaces he creates are both functional and inviting. Often, my reaction to John’s work is, ‘That is clever’. John’s friendly and approachable nature makes him an absolute delight to work with, whether you are a client, builder or another design professional.

Looking for an architect is an overwhelming task. John was recommended to us by a local builder and from our first meeting we knew we had found the architect for us. He listened to our thoughts and ideas, took time to get to know us and successfully put them into plans. We've always felt that John has his heart in the project, working around our commitments, helping us choose tiles, fittings and carpet. John has been flexible, proactive and able to adapt our plans to meet constraints. We look forward to starting the build with John as our project manager.

After interviewing 4 different architects we were thinking we would never find one that was both capable of developing our design or personable enough to work with. However just at the point of despair, a friend referred John to us and what a find he was. From the first meeting, we knew that John was someone that we could both easily work with. He was passionate about his profession, knowledgeable and above all else personable. The whole process from the initial consultation through to the DA being approved was seamless. John had a unique ability to accommodate our different ideas of what we hoped to achieve, while protecting the originality of the house, which was so important to us. John’s administrative skills are further to be commended. He dealt with all the formalities with Mosman Council and their Development Assessment Panel (the DA was referred to the Panel due to the size of the project) with ease. John attended meetings with the council and addressed the Panel directly on our behalf and the result of which was the DA was unanimously approved first time. We cannot recommend John enough as an architect!

John was an absolute pleasure to work with. His design was exactly what we envisaged and was adaptable to a few building issues out of our control. John was professional and a pleasure to work with and i would highly recommend him to anyone for residential or commercial.
