A house must have a deep rooted sense of belonging, whether it is in an urban or rural context. It must respond to its neighbours, to its orientation toward access and light and views. It must respond to its topography and to the visual character of its surroundings. And most importantly, it must have a heartbeat that responds to the lives of the people who make this their home. While we work in a number or architectural styles, we do have an acknowledged leaning toward traditional design. We do not, however, let this dictate to our clients and their lifestyle. We do not compromise on contemporary desires for light and spaciousness. We do not compromise on contemporary technology or energy efficiency. It is important to remember that the house to be created is the client’s house, not the designer's. It is where the clients will spend much of their lives; where their family will grow. An designer's second job is to design with all the skills at his command. His first job is to listen.
