Artigiani a Shannon, IL
I am an independent artist with traditional skills including painting, drawing, sculpting, mural art and more. I can create artwork for any space whether it be on canvas or a wall. I tend to work mostly in but not limited to acrylic and goauche paints and enjoy a hand at photo-real or still life artwork.
Annie Hermes is a Commercial Artist living and working in Dixon, Illinois. She works predominantly in the media of painting, but includes photography in large-scale exhibits. She is an experimental abstract painter who creates highly textured pieces, as well as pieces with a more graphic feel. Her use of vibrant color combinations is exciting, and the versatility in her work is intriguing to those who have requested private showings. Hermes was selected to be published in Photographer’s Forum Best of Photography 2015, book release set for December of 2015. Two of her pieces showing here have recently been recognized as well. ‘Little Rock 9’ was chosen to be reproduced for a traveling exhibit: “Love Wins, Peace Rises” showing in NYC and Los Angeles currently, and ‘Woods at Sunset’ was chosen to be published in Northern Public Radio’s “Got Art?” Calendar for 2016. In 2014 Hermes presented a workshop “Experimental Abstract Painting” at the Indian Valley Art Show in Amboy, IL, and in 2012 her work was featured as the cover art for The Prairie Wind, Highland’s award-winning art and literary magazine (‘Vortex II’, watercolor, 18x24). Hermes develops work just as diverse as her influences: mid-century design; struggles for basic human rights; and the reaction of the medium she uses to movement. As she follows these varying paths of influence, so go the paths of her series.
