We recently torn our rambler down to the foundation and rebuilt a new two story house and used Yumi for the entire process - from designing the floor plan, to working with the architect and city for permitting, to picking all finishing products, and coordinating with the builder to keep the project on track. Yumi is extremely talented and knows how to create a cohesive design throughout the entire house. We started this project without having much of a vision, but she listened to our likes and dislikes and was excellent at finding design inspiration and recommending products to us. We enjoyed working with her because she is very responsive, extremely organized, and she has great relationships with many amazing vendors. Our project took a year and she was so helpful in pushing the builder to keep everything on track. Even after the project was completed she continued to respond to texts and emails about final punch list items quickly. We are so happy with all the support and guidance Yumi provided us and we genuinely enjoyed the entire building process because of her!

My parents have used Yumi on multiple occasions to get her help redoing their various renovations. I just recently bought my own place and had a couple of tricky questions regarding design and aesthetics that I was trying to figure out. I asked Yumi for her opinion and help and not only did she provide guidance, but she went out and got samples, sent me pictures, and provided her reasoning for certain details. I was able to see my space in a whole new light. She carries out her work being responsible, professional, and going above and beyond. She is great at what she does!

Yumi at Hatano Studio did an amazing job in the renovation of my house. She listened to me and my wife's wishes and provided valuable advice, and is very reliable. She is attentive to detail and knowledgeable about tiles, cabinets and other products that we used. She brought in a contractor who handled the renovation and he did an excellent job. Yumi did great work for our kitchen remodeling project. She knows about products and she always presented a range of options to find something we liked. We lived in our home during the remodel and she actively managed the project in order to make that possible. She also has a great team and they were great about immediately identifying problems and offering a range of possible solutions. They finished on time and the quality of their work was very good. We engaged with Yumi to help design the remodel of our home. We live in a 1930’s home that was last updated in the 1980s, so it needed significant updating. Yumi was great at getting to know our style and making sure that it was incorporated into the design while at the same time guiding us to make good decisions. Yumi is also a great project manager; making decisions for a remodel is trickier than you think – Yumi is excellent at providing the information and guidance to make the right decisions. The construction crew that partners with Yumi are first-class - not only in their quality of work but their overall professionalism. Radu (who heads up the construction side) made us feel like he was tackling our project like he would his own. Radu and his crew constantly went above and beyond e.g., helping us move furniture and securing our house. During the whole project, Yumi kept us fully informed; it was great to know someone was on the case taking care of every detail. Yumi is also diligent with cost management, keeping us informed of costs to avoid surprises and showing us alternatives to the more costly options we were considering. We absolutely love our remodeled home and are so very grateful to Yumi, Radu, and the team.

Yumi was amazing to work with. She first nailed down what we wanted and then suggested appropriate designs, adjusting them as we gave her feedback. Yumi and her team have completely transformed my house from an outdated home to a modern, sophisticated home that my family and I are in love with. We completed a full kitchen remodel, along with new bathroom, powder room, laundry room, hardwood floors/carpets, millwork, repainting the interior of the home, as well as creating a new lighting plan and selections. The scope of the project was extensive, but with Yumi’s clear vision and effective communication, there were no major hiccups or delays. If there were any minor issues, she was quick to remedy them with a problem solving attitude. Yumi is well connected and only partners with people who are excellent in their craft, are hardworking, and stay focused on meticulous work. This matters so much when it comes to all the details of your home. In the end, our stress was very minimal because we had full faith in Yumi and her team to deliver, and they sure did. Yumi is an amazingly creative and talented designer with impeccable taste, but that does not come close to describing the full extent of her capability. She is incredibly determined, focused and organized, which enabled my home renovation to be better than I could have imagined. She truly got to know me and what was important to me. That was helpful throughout the design and execution process as we worked through every level of challenge from the small decisions to the big unexpected obstacles. She collaborated with me to find the right solution and option to help completely renovate my entire downstairs including a full kitchen remodel and some elements incorporated upstairs to help make the whole house look cohesive. She prioritized and approached each step with professionalism and a plan! The outcome and final product is truly everything I could have hoped for and more. We hired Hatano Studios to design and remodel our newly purchased 1980s home that required MAJOR updating. Yumi did a wonderful job assessing and incorporating our style to design a modern, beautiful house. We were impressed every step of the way: she's meticulous with the details, has impeccable taste, and knows the industry and has great contacts. We also appreciate that Yumi was very conscientious about our budget and costs. We also cannot say enough good things about her construction crew (led by Radu)! They were incredibly responsive and professional. Radu was always one call away. When our movers weren’t able to get up the hill to our house and our lease was coming due he didn’t hesitate to offer his crews help to get us moved in (luckily not necessary!). It was a long 7-month job but overall the design and construction process went smoothly (the delivery was delayed by one month due to unforeseen structural issues and several last minute changes we made), and Yumi handled all the project management and constantly kept us informed about the contractors’ work schedules. We moved in last month and are very happy with the final result! We highly recommend Yumi and her team.

So, where should I start to talk about Yumi? Me and my team has known Yumi and her husband Dan for many years professionally and as friends. We did many professional projects together. She does more then interior designing. Yumi has a few amazing skills under her sleeves, planning, drawing, organizing, scheduling, always on time, pushing you to keep going, always happy with a smile on your face. If you want a professional, a loving person in what she does, a respected and respectful, a full of surprises design ideas, Yumi is the right person to contact.

It was phenomenal working with Yumi on our Master Bathroom remodel project. Yumi, has been a delight to work with. She listened to our queries, answered promptly and finally delivered on such a great design that we are all very proud of and love, which is what matters. We love our new bathroom. Yumi also helped us with other stairs and other small nip & tuck advises across our place. This was the first house we bought and we could not have done it without Yumi. I would also give Kudos to Radu and his team to actually delivering on the designing. Very skilled, professional and humble.
