We are extremely happy with how the project turned out, and it’s thanks to Rick!! We did a major renovation with Rick. Keeping the footprint of our house, Rick helped us reimagine the floor plan, moving the kitchen and half bathroom, opening the space, and building out above the family room on the second floor. It took us a long time to figure out what we wanted and needed from this project. Rick was patient every step of the way, listening to our ideas and then putting them into his drawings. During construction he routinely advocated for us. His attention to detail, how the spaces were designed, and the nuanced details exceeded our expectations. For example, the framing/molding that goes around our windows are two sizes that works in an elevated and interesting way. He spent time thinking about how the ceiling ought to be to highlight the intention of the space. It’s pretty cool. I also love the staircase that he designed for us. While we chose basic colors. The best memory of Rick was one day when there was a big storm that flooded our basement (it also took down large trees on Palmer!) as there was no power in the house to work the sump pumps (we kept the basement as is). One of the workers texted us a picture. I called his office not knowing that they had also sent the picture to Rick. When I spoke to Joanne she said that Rock had already gotten into the car and was on his way! Rick made it to our house before we did. He cares. We already trusted him at this point, we had been working together for a while at this point, but this showed his investment in his projects and his clients. We love our house. Everything in our house makes sense. If we could have Rick and his team continue to design our lives we would certainly trust them!

We've been through a number of renovation projects, so we have a sense of what's out there. Rick Yestadt's attention to style, function, and service distinguishes him. His approach to creating a master suite in our Cape was ingenious and tasteful, finding ways to use limited space elegantly. He was receptive to feedback and incorporated our thoughts into his designs. We recommend Rick to anyone.

I enthusiastically recommend and endorse Rick Yestadt for any project. My wife and I presented Rick with a fantasy dream house design. He patiently listened unlike many Architects who feel their vision alone should suffice.. His attention to detail was amazing. We were introduced to ideas that only a true professional would know. For instance the builder was providing 90 degree risers on our staircase. Rick introduced an angle that changed the whole feeling from the ordinary to the spectacular! Our house in Larchmont offered very limited land. He was able to design a very substantial modern Home that feels cozy even with 6000 sq.ft. It also boasts a separate ,and independent Apartment that the casual observer would never know existed! Rick stayed involved from beginning to the end, Long past after his last fee was paid to make sure we were happy and the integrity of his design was never compromised. We had a wonderful contactor as well. He worked well with Rick. He was patient with Rick in his demand for attention to details. The team at Fjord Fish Markets couldn't be happier with the job Rick and his team did in designing our Larchmont location. Work was efficient and thorough and there was great communication with both Fjord and the sub contractors throughout the process. Would highly recommend Rick and his team.

Our home improvement project was to tear down the wall separating the kitchen from the dining room, then to add windows in the dining room. My wife and I had a general idea of what we wanted, but weren't sure exactly what we needed to give us a feeling of more space inside and a better view of the outside. We interviewed a few architects and were most comfortable with Rick. He was calm, thoughtful and creative. He gave us some excellent ideas about how we could accomplish our goals and explained why this would be a good way to do it. For a variety of sound reasons, he suggested a half wall between the two rooms, instead of just eliminating the wall. He also suggested where to increase window space. Rick's price was fair. He gave a flat rate, which was preferable to some others who wanted to bill by the hour. I was much more comfortable with knowing my cost. His recommendation of a contractor worked out. The man was a bit quirky and gruff, but he did what he promised in a timely fashion. The guys who actually did the construction were hard-working, polite and dedicated. We liked the work so much, that we hired them a few months later on a smaller project. The contractor's price was also reasonable. The work took about six weeks, perhaps a week or two longer than estimated. As construction projects go, I'd consider this timely. As always, the workmen discovered an unexpected problem with the construction early on. However, Rick and the contractor were able to think creatively and overcome the roadblock. During the entire process, Rick was available and easy going. He walked me through the various certifications issued by the town. Having construction in your home is disruptive and not a lot of fun. But if you want to improve your home's appearance and the quality of life in your house, then I would recommend Rick Yestadt. He was honest, helpful, creative and professional. Hiring Rick will give you one less thing to worry about. And that's crucial when you are having construction done in your home.

I had the pleasure of working with Rick and his firm and what an absolute pleasure every one was! I loved the designs he put together, how great he was guiding me the whole way through about how the finish product was going to look and even being so kind as to when I wanted to make my little changes! Style, professionalism and staying within my budget were all the things I experienced with Rick and his team that make me give him the highest rating possible! By the end of the job I can honestly say we even now consider Rick and his wife Joanne and us friends.

We hired Rick to be our architect for a big renovation work we did in our house. Even though we had very clear ideas about what we wanted, Rick's design improved the functionality substantially. He suggested a lot of things we had not thought about. He was great to work with, easy going and mindful about meeting our budget. He also help us finding the right contractor. Rick Yestadt, architect at Yestadt Architecture & Design, was amazing to work with. First of all he provided a fabulous modern design for the redo of my 1950’s apartment. Now I have a lovely open space and much much more light! I am still so much enjoying his vision in the form of the re-design of my apartment 8 years later! I am a mid-century Modern nut and he respectfully restored my apartment in that style for me, though he has successfully restored in many other styles. The kitchen was opened up and gorgeous swivel glass doors replaced a wall into my bedroom, no easy feat. Rick always contracted the best craftsmen to come to do the difficult jobs required in all of the elements in the construction. The flow of the apartment is so much more functional due to Rick’s design. He also added interest through gorgeous details such as multi-level ceilings, lighting and a spectacular floor to ceiling tile wall at the end of the kitchen that runs into a floor-to-ceiling mirror into the hallway. This mirror picks up light from all the windows in my apartment which illuminates the darkest area. This idea of the mirror I would have never thought of, but Rick suggested it, and it made such an amazing the difference in how the light pored into the apartment. It is a happy place to live in with the addition of the mirror! Not only does Rick have a great grasp of engineering, but also he is humble, making him an easy person to work with, a big plus for me. Rick was incredibly diligent when it came to dealing with the many details and the problems of my construction. If there was a problem, he was there. Often I had 8 o’clock meetings with Rick and the construction team to iron out issues of the day. Again, I so love the final result. Every time I come home I want to thank Rick, even 8 years later after the construction! Again, he was also such a pleasure to work with personally and creatively!

Gordon and Yestadt were a pleasure to work with and helped us to create our dream home. We worked with them on a major renovation that included a two floor addition. Larry and Rick are truly passionate about architecture and invest a lot of themselves in each project. They are highly creative and during the course of our project came up with interesting solutions to any and all challenges that arose along the way. They understand our local market and have fantastic relationships with all of the necessary administrative offices and local contractors. We had a great experience and are so pleased with the home they designed for us.

Overall we had positive experience. Problems were caught on time and corrected without creating costly delays. I would recommend them.

The project was an installation of a fire system in an occupied, midcentury modern skilled nursing home which is 180,000 square feet. The design phase took about two years as we did not want any of the pipes to show. The actual installation phase also took two years with some changes that made the project better. We are very satisfied with the finished project and would recommend Gordon and Yestadt Architects.
