Our light fixtures are based on finely detailed historic European styles found in palaces and villas in Spain and Italy, most dating back to the 17th through 19th centuries. In the early 20th century when architects like George Washington Smith, Addison Mizner, Julia Morgan (Hearst Castle) and William Mooser (Santa Barbara County Courthouse) raised Mediterranean Revival architecture to a high level in California, Florida and other areas of the Untied States, they used these fixtures in the residential estates they designed, purchasing them from European manufacturers and antique dealers. Each of our fixtures is carefully handcrafted out of copper employing “repousse”- a method of hammering and pressing the copper sheet metal into decorative ornamental shapes and patterns. Typical of the historic fixtures that inspire them, each fixture is unique with slight variations within any given style. Our patinas are as close as possible to replicating a light that has been, either in the weather, or indoors for 50 plus years. As with those lights the colors vary slightly which adds to their uniqueness and charm. Due to the care and time which go into making each fixture, there is a limited number we are able to produce each year, but there are no other manufacturers we have identified for fixtures of equivalent quality, style and craftsmanship.
