Signature Construction & Design – GCC Carriage House Renovation Greenville Country Club hired Signature Construction and Design in September 2019 to restore and re-purpose our century-old Carriage House as the Club’s new fitness and sports medicine center. The Carriage House is part of the former estate of Eugene Irene, Jr and Ethel DuPont, known as Owl’s Nest Country Place. Originally consisting of 500+ acres, the 1915 estate has a large Tudor revival style house and a matching Carriage House designed by Harrie T. Lindeberg, the famous early 20th century architect. The building had been used for a variety of purposes over the last 60 years but had been relegated to being an equipment storage area since the 1990s. Viewed as a “diamond in the rough”, the restoration would require the efforts of 20 sub-contractors and suppliers. Signature was responsible jointly with Greenville CC staff for the design and engineering of the restoration and were the managers of the renovation project.   Just as the project was to begin work “on the ground”, the Sars Cov-2 pandemic resulted in a nine-month delay and created challenges finding high quality materials and continuity of the skilled tradespersons needed for this high historic-quality renovation. Working in a 100+ year old building was anticipated to be a challenge, and so it proved to be. The project was undertaken on a cost+ basis, and there were many discoveries and issues encountered, alternatives researched and piloted, and creative solutions found as interior demolition and design progressed. The team of Signature, Greenville, and key technical suppliers found novel methods and materials that maintained the exterior of the stately structure while modernizing and repurposing the interior for another 100 years of use. The project was completed 7 months after physical start, slightly ahead of schedule. “We were very pleased with the coordination and flexibility Signature provided in transforming the Carriage House for its new role”, says Michael Leach, Facilities Director. “This was complicated work conducted under unique circumstances.”

Signature did a great job as our general contractor for our master suite addition. Andrea was easy to work with and helped walk me through what would otherwise be an overwhelming process. The entire team was very organized and experienced. We are very happy with the end result.

Signature Construction did a good job on an updated bathroom project and other miscellaneous projects. We are pleased with the results. Andrea Roberts was especially good to work with. Project came in right at estimate except for change orders requested by us. Wish it had been done faster, but the outstanding quality more than compensated for time taken.

The scope of our project is large and is a total home renovation. Eric, Glen, Andrea, and Paul have helped us create a one-of-a-kind home that is totally custom and exactly what we envisioned. Their design inspiration and renovation knowledge have been extremely valuable. Their professionalism and workmanship is outstanding. The work site is always kept clean, they are always on time for appointments, readily accessible, and always keep budget in mind when suggesting design decisions. We couldn't be happier. We enclosed our front porch on old house and end result was top notch. New windows and heated floors turned out great. The project did have twists and turns as virtually all renovations do, especially ones on old houses, but Signature worked through them with us at a high level of professionalism.

We used Signature for a gut renovation, involving a complicated redesign, of our bathroom. Another builder had turned us down because of the complexities of the job. Signature did a great job and we have been thoroughly enjoying our new bathroom. We really liked working with Andrea and Mike.

We found Signature on Houzz and used them to remodel our kitchen and den. Andrea is creative, attentive to details and so patient. Every step was clearly communicated and we knew exactly what to expect and when to expect it. Incredibly professional but really personable as well - I felt really comfortable having all of the workers in my home at any time. The work quality was top notch, they stuck to deadlines and were on budget to the penny. Truly exceeded our expectations in every way. Can't wait to redo our master bath and bedroom with them!

Eric and his team did a great job renovating my daughter's bathroom. The project stayed on schedule and within the budget and the workmanship was top notch. Andrea made the selection process seamless. All of the trades left everything very neat when they left and protected carpets and furniture from the construction dust. We will not hesitate to use Signature for our next project.

Andrea was wonderful to work with. She was extremely knowledgeable about our kitchen/family room needs. Andrea made the decision making process easy and comfortable. Without her insite, the decisions we had to make would have been difficult. I had a bid from another firm that was for 50% more with an onerous contract I wouldn't sign. Signature had a fair price, and great workmanship. The next time I need a remodeling, this is the group I am calling.

Signature Builders were so great to work with in all aspects. We had weekly mtgs to review or alter some decisions (if needed). Andrea (office) was in constant communication with us and was veryyyy organized with the monumental tasks of keeping us on schedule for making choices (kitchen, flooring, bathrooms, counter tops, hardware, colors, etc). She also has fabulous taste. The project manager was fantastic developing special moldings, curved walls, half doors to keep our dogs out of certain areas (which was great input) and other practical decision making efforts. Have had soooo many compliments from anyone who has visited us!

Eric & Paul- I want to say "Thank You" and share that Jordan & Drew did an excellent job on the structural repairs at my home. They were on time every day and had everything they needed with them. They seemed to work well together and did not waste time. They also cleaned up nicely each day after they finished and let me know when they would be back the following day. We were very pleased with the work Signature Construction and Design did for us. Our projects were lengthy and detailed (inside and out) but were no match for this fabulous team. They met the challenges with professionalism and skill. Can't wait for Round 3!

We hired Signature Construction for a big kitchen/family room remodel. Signature helped us to understand the project and visualize the end result. The project turned out pretty much exactly as we had hoped it would within the time frame we needed. All the staff and contractors we met were helpful, professional, and knowledgeable. We chose Signature because the job entailed both structural, systems and cosmetic changes, and Signature was able to handle all aspects.

Signature's team did a great job on our big project. They were helpful through the design and selection process, and the crew that made it all happen was just terrific. Once they started, they worked every day, as promised, until it was largely complete. They were friendly, respectful of our family and our space, cleaned up really well at the end of each day, and took great pride in their work. A year later, we are still so pleased with their craftsmanship.

The Signature Construction and Design group came highly recommended to us for our home renovation. We worked with them to completely overhaul our 3 story townhouse. New kitchen, new master bath, hardwood refinish, upgrade all hvac, upgrade fireplace, new stair rails, removal of walls and interior steps, new lighting throughout, new master bedroom closet and closet insert installation throughout the entire house. We also had their carpenters take a slab of raw black walnut and create a "live edge" countertop bar for us that is the show stopper of the home. We took the home from mid 2000's spec home to mid century modern beautiful from top to bottom! The design and construction staff at Signature were excellent in assisting us with choices to make the home work together. Their carpentry staff built custom doors for a difficult closet and even built occasional tables from the live edge scrap material!! Their construction staff and their sub-contractors are the best in the business!
