What started as a kitchen remodel became a floor to ceiling wall to wall project. Joyce knew exactly where to find everything we needed, saving us time and money. The contractor she suggested provided everything from permits and inspection to retrofitting special project’s. His crew of professionals, electrician-plumper-painters were all top notch. Joyce work very closely with the crew to make sure were getting what we wanted. If there was a problem she fixed it. She kept us informed and always returned our calls. We made numerous changes and she was always very patient. We needed a experienced professional with lots of patients and the ability to make sense of our ideas. Joyce is that and much more!!

We engaged Joyce to assist us with furnishing and accessorizing our new home. She was incredibly accessible as we went furniture shopping. She helped us envision how a couple different concepts could work. She made the the process easier by selecting sample fabrics, delivering those to us, and returning them. The same process was true for our rug selections. She helped us combine different styles and preferences. When some (most) of our custom furniture arrived damaged, she worked with the furniture store to make sure the issue was remedied. She did a great job of introducing us to quality professionals to help with painting, wallpapering, and carpeting our rooms. We are so happy with the finished rooms, and appreciate Joyce's help in making our house feel more like home.

Shauna Rittenhouse

We have commented on multiple occasions how much the new kitchen has helped us manage our new pandemic realities. With both parents working from home and three children schooling from home the kitchen has become the true hub of the house. While we did not add any square footage on the renovation, the removal of a wall has afforded the space to function in multiple ways that would not have been possible before. Simply put, we couldn't be happier with the remodel.

Joyce was great to work with for the design of our new Bakery front. She listened to our ideas and came back with a plan of choices and reasonable pricing. She was flexible to make changes and offer new ideas. Would recommend her design services and use again as needed.

Robert Rozen

We really enjoyed working with Joyce to update our main level. The space is relaxed but elegant, and we use it every day. The upgraded lighting really showcases our art collection. Our favorite part of the room is probably the gas fireplace. We use it so much more than the old wood-burning fireplace, and it also provides a lot of warmth, really cozy all winter and during the chilly spring evenings. I love how Joyce helped to make it uniquely ours, helping us define our style rather than imposing hers. She really streamlined and facilitated all aspects of our project, hand delivering samples and making style recommendations, as well as coordinating contractors and workers. She saved us a lot of time and effort by doing the legwork, and the results were worth it!

Plumbing Haus

Plumbing Haus has done several projects with MJM Design Company (Joyce Mathis Owner), most recently we did a very custom Heavy-Glass French-Doors shower project. These doors were to be the culmination of an incredible His & Her thermostatic spa shower. This project required several design meetings with Plumbing Haus, the client and Joyce. Joyce came fully prepared to each meeting, helped the client convert their vision to a workable project, then shepherd the project along by establishing timelines and keeping all parties fully informed. At one point, the owner need materials that were stored in the home moved before they returned from out of town. Without hesitation, Joyce marshaled the help needed to move these items and make the space ready for her client’s return. Not the usual task associated with a Designer. I have worked with Designers who have great visions but do not know how to make the visions a reality. I have worked with Designers who are great organizers but don’t challenge convention in their designs. With MJM Design, you get the whole package. I recommend MJM Design Company without reservation.
