The Somerset Hills HandyMan & Co is a home remodeling & repair firm in Bernardsville, New Jersey. They pride themselves on the ability to rethink a design to fit a realistic budget, deliver it on time, and instill a level of quality that will be apparent many years form now. Shep Greene is the owner and founder of The Somerset Hills HandyMan & Co. After graduating from Colgate University, Shep started work at CBS News as a writer-producer. He became a marketing executive at AT&T, then a sales executive for 3 start up companies. Shep didn't originally set out to be a builder, but after spending long hours fixing up his 1700's farmhouse style home in southern Connecticut, he decided to make a change and launched The Somerset Hills HandyMan & Co. in 2001. Whether renovating old homes, adding on or repairing, Shep Greene and his team use green building practices wherever possible to preserve old houses and to construct environmentally friendly, energy efficient modern homes that are healthy new spaces with greater market value. They select building materials that are manufactured from renewable resources and don't pollute your home's internal air quality, and their projects use sustainable and recyclable materials. Their clients love the approach and see the value in being diligent about using good insulation, energy efficient appliances, windows & doors.

The team at The Somerset Hills HandyMan & Co is fantastic!I needed to get my living room painted in a hurry, after I realized the flooring was being installed in my home 2 weeks earlier than I'd planned. I called Mend It Now, and they came to my home the same day, and painted an entire 500 square foot room in less than two hours. Will definitely be calling them again when I need other work around the house. Topnotch service, friendly and reliable!

Al, Kenny and Peter have done a lot of projects for me at my home and I have been delighted with all of them. New fence and deck, weatherproofing and painting my house, installing a new window, and replacing old rotten siding are some of the jobs he has done. The quality of the work is excellent and the price is right. If you're not completely happy with something, he will rework it until it is perfect.

Doesn’t guarantee his work once you pay the bill. Some work was beautiful and some was not and needed to be redone - which he did. BUT once your bill is paid he doesn’t stand behind his work. In my case - electrical outside lighting.

I was planning a party for the end of June and wanted to replace the existing back door with a sliding door and take care of some other small projects. I made a query with The Somerset Hills HandyMan & Co. and received a quick response from Shep and had an appointment to get an estimate the same day! The professionalism of the individuals that did the work along with the quality was excellent. Somerset Hills HandyMan ensured our needs, concerns, timeframe, and BUDGET were always respected. I will definitely call them again for our next project.

Shep has a great ability to come up with ideas that take a renovation from ordinary to striking--and to do so within reasonable budgets. Instead of expansive and expensive proposals, he focuses on how to make the most of what is there already. Between the 2 of us, we created all the plans and he drew them up and filed them. No architect was required even though we added beams and moved walls. His team is competent, reliable and the work is of strong quality. The kitchen and the new bedroom and bath were done within the existing house footprint, but make far better use of the space and added much light, style and great open area. It is a huge change in the house --and far better than the other alternatives offered by expensive architects.
