David built bookshelves to my exact specifications, and I couldn’t be happier with the way they turned out. They’re modeled on mid-century shelves I saw in a photograph of an artist’s New York studio. I knew they were exactly what I wanted. David built them to the last detail, even improving on the original by making adjustments for the room in my house where the shelves were installed. He was wonderful to work with, detail oriented and meticulous. I trusted him every step of the way.

I had a great experience working with Salisbury Artisans on a large farmhouse style dining table. Once I explained my needs, David had great ideas and we worked together to get the design exactly right. Throughout the building process David confirmed every detail with me including the selection of the wood, finish and measurements so that it would perfectly fit 12 chairs. The finished table exceeded my expectations both because it is well made and beautiful but also because I learned so much and enjoyed the process.

We collaborated with David to bring a vintage table to life, and now we have a one of a kind piece that will be cherished forever! The project was not a simple one, but David was an excellent problem solver and brought decades of experience to the design process. We worked off limited information as we had fewer than a handful of photos to start. There was also an additional challenge of scaling up the design while retaining the proportions and hierarchy of playful elements. With David's initial drawings we hit the ground running. After a few iterations, we moved to a physical mockup with boards and made additional adjustments. David then sourced the most beautiful walnut for our final version and put great thought into arranging the grain in the most harmonious way. Along the way, there was always enlightening conversation as we ran into design issues and how to address them. I learned so much throughout the process! From our first phone call to our very last review, we always felt David was equally as invested in getting things right. And of course, we had a ton of fun along the way. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him and cannot wait to partner again on a future project.

My wife and I decided we wanted a slab table made for our new house - we contacted around 8 different furniture makers with a very basic idea. David was one of the eight we got a quote from and it was obvious from the start, David is not your average furniture maker - he has a passion, sincere and deep, to create works of art. Other reviewers have claimed that he made them the most beautiful table, table and chairs, etc., unfortunately those reviewers are wrong - David has created a work of art, in our table, bench, and chairs, that is unlikely to be improved upon, by him or anywhere else, ever!! If you want a unique piece of furniture, done with the utmost professionalism, with fantastic communication and consultation, I cannot believe you can do better than David Bowen and Salisbury Artisans.

David made us the most beautiful live edge claro walnut dining table. He was with us the whole day when we went to pick out the slab, discussing which slab would work in the space, and what would look best for a base without taking away from the beautiful slab we chose. Through the process, David was always available to answer questions and continually sent us updated photos of the process. The table is stunning and truly an heirloom piece. I highly recommend him for any custom furniture pieces, he is a true artisan.

David built us a GORGEOUS live edge table that you would expect to find in a high-end art gallery. Everyone who enters our home is drawn to the table to examine, admire and even touch it! Truly a work of art. David loves to collaborate. From a really fun day picking our maple slab with him to emailing ideas back and forth, David cheerfully partnered with us to merge his creativity and craftsmanship with our ideas. His reverence for the beauty of the wood translated into an incredible treasure in the heart of our home.

David built a beautiful live edge dining room table for us. From start to finish, the entire experience was remarkable. David guided us through not only the species selection, but also assisted us with picking the actual slab. He has an excellent eye for design and was instrumental in helping us understand seating capacity. Throughout the build David provided us with frequent status updates, which included pictures of the table and thorough explanations of next steps. The table was completed within the estimated time frame. It came out better than we could have imagined. We will be seeking David's assistance with any and all future projects.

We asked David Bowen to create a table based on an antique console/library table that we had seen and wanted to replicate in a larger more functional scale to double as a foyer entry table and dining table in our NYC apartment. David embraced the project with both gusto and an incredible attention to detail. The final product was scaled to perfection and the finish and workmanship was impeccable. David was razor focused in making sure he delivered a product that would meet our needs and aesthetic goal. He combined his old world hand finishing craftsmanship with computer modelling to insure that the product had elegant dimensions and provided us with many color samples to reach the desired finish and stain. We are thankful for having worked with such a skilled and caring craftsman.

I commissioned David to create a built-in TV console in a mission style. He found a beautiful quartersaw oak and did an excellent job. He clearly takes pride in his fine woodwork and takes great cares building furniture. He is a perfectionist in the best sense of the word. I recommend hiring him.

I have worked with David on projects for my clients and for my own home. He is a pleasure to work with and is alway very helpful with working out details so that the project is the best that it can be. His craftsmanship and attention to detail is unsurpassed. Salisbury Artisans executed a complete overhaul of our kitchen. David Bowen was a thorough and trusted collaborator, helping us solve design problems that allowed us to keep and restore our vintage 1970s mahogany cabinetry while updating the kitchen with current appliances, countertops and sink. We wanted to avoid the feeling that the kitchen was dropped into the house from another decade. At the outset, we thought it was just a matter of refinishing the wood. In the end, David's work encompassed moving cabinets, leveling floors and raising countertops alongside his true specialty of doing unparalleled wood and cabinet work. He educated us on veneers and sourced the rare mahogany that he used for the restoration, providing several choices of wood. I would never have anticipated the technical challenges involved in creating the oversized panels for our built-in refrigerator and 6' pantry doors. Thanks to David's expertise and attention to detail, the results are truly perfect. The doors are flat and click effortlessly into place, with the rich wood grain aligned across large expanses. The kitchen is completely modern while fitting seamlessly into the very particular 70s style of our house. We are not easy clients, and his patience is unending; for example, he took a couple of hours with us just to decide on the placement of the cabinet hardware. Not only does Salisbury Artisans deliver meticulous wood work, but David also provides design ideas (clearly illustrated in advance) and an innate aesthetic understanding that is hard to find. He will definitely be doing further work in our house.
