My husband and I have worked with Master Remodelers and Regis McQuaide for over 20 years on four different projects - two of which were new additions to two different homes and the craftsmanship and design were beautifully executed. We just completed a project this month and we have always been more than pleased working with Regis whose professionalism is of the highest caliber. He offers his suggestions but also listens to our specific requests and he follows through with every detail of the contract and is willing to make changes along the way if we ask. The customer definitely is first in this business. The quality of work is superb. Each work team member has been highly competent and also respectful of being in our home, We have recommended Master Remodelers to others and will continue to do so.

One of the biggest fears homeowners face when undertaking a major home renovation is, “Did I hire the right contractor?” When we selected Regis McQuaide’s Master Remodelers to add a front porch to our ranch style house there were no sleepless nights. Master Remodelers constructed a porch that resulted in many compliments from our neighbors and passersby. We are 100% satisfied with the result. The original narrow recessed entry of our home was awkward. Regis recommended moving the door to the front of the house. In the winter, the original design of the roof permitted ice to form along the bricks on the side of the entry. We also wished to have a small area where we could place a couple of chairs for sitting outside. Using Azec decking and railings, Regis McQuaide designed and built a small, maintenance free front porch that enhanced the curb appeal of our home and will eliminate the icing problems we experienced. The original front door was replaced with a fiberglass door. Porcelain tile was added to the new extended foyer, vent pipes were moved to the rear of the house, new roof shingles replaced the old, and new beige siding was added to the gable. In addition, an exposed aggregate sidewalk replaced our old sidewalk, further enhancing the entrance to our house. We are completely satisfied with the quality of the work and the materials used. The entire staff, including the design consultant, the lead carpenter and his assistants, was accommodating and comfortable to work with. Regis McQuaide stopped by to monitor the work. His staff was attentive to our requests. Upon completion of the project there was a minor problem with the new front door. We contacted the office. The lead carpenter arrived that very afternoon and corrected the issue. We are impressed with the results and completely satisfied with our experience with Master Remodelers.

I have used Master Remodelers for several projects over the last 15 years from a complete remodel of my basement, to smaller jobs such as adding a bow window to my kitchen to an even bigger project renewing the lower level of my home. The most recent project included removing old ceramic tiles, installing new porcelain wood grain tiles in a herringbone layout, remodeling my kitchen and completely redoing my master bath. All of the projects started with a design layout and budget discussions. At times we adjusted our dreams to meet our finances but we had a good idea of what we were getting before the project started. Master Remodeler's design expert joined us in selecting materials and equipment which was a big help. The quality of work is noteworthy as I am a self proclaimed perfectionist. Every detail was exact and workmanship was clearly top notch professional. I am comfortable recommending their services for all types of jobs. I have been completely satisfied with everything they have done for me, witness that I have used them over and over for my home projects.

My remodel really did change our lives. We wanted to open up our ground floor and put on a small addition. Regis's plans were appealing and ideal for size of our home. We ended up doing more extensive work, but at our initiative. We insulated, upgraded our electrical work, resurfaced the plaster work, and did extensive landscaping. This solved an ongoing drainage issue. Because the work was so good, we awarded a stonewall rebuild, driveway and front steps and a dormer replacement to Regis. We are 64 and this is a lifestyle change asu h as anything. The open plan has made our time together great. The grandkids love it. Everyone wants to hold dinner at our house. I want to add the crew was delightful. Much of the work went on over winter and they shoveled and cleared my car. The site was immaculate every night. Everyone went out of their way for us. You might not want south work, and I know that is ok with Regis. He never oversold. No matter what the scope, you will find the work is lovely and the finished complete and meticulous. It seems small but it is truly tranquil to rest your eye on any point in a room and find only well done work. So I would recommend this company! Check my daily view..

Master Remodelers is absolutely the worst company my wife and I have ever dealt with. We could not be any more upset and disappointed and we feel completely taken advantage of. After doing lots of research into local design-build firms, we had Regis McQuaide from Master Remodelers come into our house to examine the work that we wanted to be accomplished. After not hearing back from Regis for a while, we eventually contacted him again and he sent us a proposal 3 weeks after our initial site visit. After the site visit and sending many detailed emails and pictures to Regis, we finally got to the point where he was ready for us to come to his office to look at initial designs and contracts. At this meeting, the designs did include everything that we had told him that we wanted, although the written proposal was still very vague and didn’t reflect a few changes that we had told him to make numerous times in the previous weeks. Regis informed us that these changes would just be a “small change order later, not a big deal”. 6 days after this meeting where the contract was signed, we received a “change order” from Regis explaining that if we wanted everything that was included in the designs we had talked over the previous week it would cost us an extra $8,000, which was over 25% of the original estimate! Had we known that was going to be the actual cost of the project from the beginning, we would have NEVER chosen Master Remodelers. It is extremely unprofessional and ridiculous that he did not tell us at this meeting that things were not included and that he would be adding $8,000 to the cost estimate only 6 days later. Not only are we upset at how unprofessional Regis’s operation is run, we also feel taken advantage of. It feels like he just gave us a quote out of thin air that matched the budget we gave him on Day 1 even though that was not reflective of what he knew he would charge for the project all along. Then once we signed an agreement to get the work done, Regis increased the price to an astronomical amount for a small (5’ x 7’) powder room. It feels to us like Regis took us hostage as soon as we signed that final contract. After more than 3 months into the process with Master Remodelers, we finally convinced Regis that it was best for us to split ways. Luckily we escaped with only 3 months of our lives lost and a few hundred dollars gone from the initial deposit. In closing, we want to reiterate how unprofessional we think Regis McQuaide from Master Remodelers is. Regis is one of the most arrogant and incompetent people we have ever dealt with and is very proud of how he runs his business even though it appears to an outsider that no one is running the business at all. Regardless of this issue with the change order, throughout the whole process we were very frustrated. There was inconsistent communication, lost emails, emails sent to wrong email addresses, meeting times scheduled and then forgotten about…etc. Please do not send Regis any of your business and if you do, remember to get everything that he says in writing and make sure that you question everything he tells you.

We have really enjoyed using our new space that was taken from design to build with your company. We have received lots of wonderful compliments on how amazing the lower level looks and how it was transformed. We thank you for your excellence and attention to detail. We went from lots of ideas, to a real vision, to you taking the vision and making it a reality. (Lots of moving parts—and it all came together well.) Junko and Chris did a fabulous job with design, planning and construction. I would say we’re in the category of being particular, but they seemed two steps ahead always! Even the few bumps (as are going to happen) were taken in stride, tackled head-on and taken care of in a very professional and low stress way. We enjoyed working with you and your team and will highly recommend your services. We look forward to future projects.

Master Remodelers did extensive work on our house several years ago, and it was work well done. Bathrooms were updated, insulation was installed and reinforcements were made to the to the structure. With careful planning and execution, a subtle reconfiguration of the back of the house made a huge difference in its appearance and use. They consulted with an engineer and energy efficiency experts to guide the project, and their own staff were reliably professional. Their work endures, and the only (minor to the point of almost trivial) issue discovered incidentally after completion was promptly corrected. The quality of their work shows in its durability.

During the winter of 2013/14, Master Remodelers conducted a diagnostic energy audit on our 100+ year-old home. The home (4 stories high) is well built with thick brick walls, but there was continuous airflow and moisture condensation throughout the house, especially in the windows but also in the ceilings and walls. MR came in, and with the assistance of their subcontracted professional energy auditor, conducted an audit of the whole house. Through the testing, they discovered that our home’s airflow rate was 2.25 times greater than a home built to current standards. However, through the work done by the MR team this rate was dropped by 35%. Now, we can look out the windows and see the wind and hear a little of it, but we don’t feel it at all. You can feel how airtight the home is from the moment you step inside. Our energy bills have decreased (in spite of the harsh winter), and our allergies have all but disappeared. I have used Master Remodelers for two projects in the past 3 years. The first project was remodeling our kitchen as well as an addition to the new kitchen. Someone from Master Remodelers was at our house for 23 straight weeks. So we got to see how their employees conducted themselves for almost half a year. Without exception, every worker we came in touch with, communicated well and was always very respectful. The second project was a new roof, the addition of lamp posts in the yard and some handy man projects. So we saw how Remodelers handled a large project and one that was relatively small. Large project or small project they treated the projects in the very same professional way and delivered a quality product. What you get when you deal with Master Remodelers is assurance that they will bring the highest levels of skills required to do the job. With employees that bring these craft skills, they are especially able to take on the challenges of remodeling older houses, like ours, and make their constructive efforts appear seamless to the existing structure. On the surface you could think that Master Remodelers is too high priced. My view is that the price differential between Master Remodelers and their competition is that this price difference is like buying insurance. What you get for that premium is not only that you will receive the craft skills required to complete your project successfully; but you will also receive the assurance that you will not have a bad experience.

We are currently working with Master Remodelers to design and build an addition to our home to accomodate our little boy who is handicapped. It is a lot of work and this is a big project. But I am confident we will be able to trim down the scale and scope of the project to fit our budget and the result will be a beautiful addition which fits all of our sons needs. We are planning to build a double garage, bedroom, handicap bath, 2nd floor washer/dryer, remodeled kitchen and installed hardwood flooring.

The work was exceptional, down to every last detail. Master Remodelers did the design build on our interior/exterior home addition. The worked tirelessly to ensure that the architectural integrity of our existing stone home was maintained. The porches, patio, stone work, and exterior masonry fireplace seamlessly fit into our beautiful home. Master Remodelers has their own architect on staff for project design. The state of the art software created the ultimate in 3D imaging so that we could see exactly how our addition would look. Master Remodelers worked closely with us on our design needs, listened carefully to the things we wanted, made suggestions when needed, and ultimately delivered the final product we wanted in a professional manner. They keep a super clean job site, and all of the employees and subcontractors were respectful and professional during the construction.
