About Ray’s Flooring Specialists, Inc. of New Mexico Ray’s Flooring Specialists, Inc. has been a family-owned and operated company since our start in 1972. We’ve grown considerably over the last four decades, but our commitment to professional excellence and superior customer service has not changed. Our Humble Beginning in New Mexico In 1959, Ray Lucero, Sr. began his career as a carpet installer in New Mexico. 13 years later with the help of his wife Dorothy, he opened his own flooring company—Ray’s Carpet. Working out of the garage of their North Valley home, Ray Sr. was the salesman, estimator and installer on all projects. Our Growth Guided by his principles, his “Whatever it takes” motto and his unwavering commitment to quality, Ray Sr. began building a legacy of hard work and quality craftsmanship. Ray’s integrity, honesty and unrelenting passion to satisfy every client paid off—the company began to grow. Ray’s Carpet outgrew the Lucero family garage. In the early 1980s, the office was moved to 2908 Broadway NW. The business, now providing excellent commercial and residential installation on all types of floor coverings, outgrew this location a few years later, prompting the move to 2400 Claremont NE. Over the years, Ray Sr. was joined in business by his children and other trusted employees. Today, Ray’s Flooring Specialists, Inc. is operated by the second generation of Lucero flooring experts, 20 office personnel and more than 75 trusted installers. Our office, showroom and warehouse are housed in our 60,000 square foot facility on Albuquerque’s Westside. In 2014, we added a second convenient location—Ray’s Carpet One Floor & Home at 7441 Paseo del Norte (just west of Wyoming Blvd NE)—to better serve our residential customers.
