Pools by Design

Our very expensive ‘designer’ concrete pool is 9 years old. A couple of years ago we experienced a constantly blocked filter and our pool became unusable. We changed much of our equipment but to no avail. Eventually another pool company inspected and told us the costing at the bottom of our pool was coming away as it hadn’t been applied properly. We’ve emptied the pool and had it high pressure blasted to remove all the crumbling coating to see if that helps. If not we have to empty it again, have the entire coating removed and reapplied at a very high cost approaching $10k. . All our approaches to PBD about this latent defect are ignored. Stay away from the company.

We were mostly happy with the pool and it looks good. We would provide more stars but a couple of unresolved issues left us disappointed. The issues seemed relatively minor to us but the lack of response to get them fixed eroded a lot of goodwill. Prior to this, we would have recommended this company to all our friends.

I would most certainly not recommend this company to anyone. It took them a whole year to complete our pool. They have minimal integrity and honesty. They closed for Christmas without saying anything to us while we were waiting for handover. They then had an outside party come over and he found an A4 page list of faults. They then asked for final payment without even mentioning these faults. During the build they accessed our property on several occasions without letting us know and jumped over our gates to get into our yard. We have now been waiting for 6 months to get the heat pump sorted out. We were told last week that the heat pump was installed incorrectly and we are still waiting for this to be rectified. They were rude, unpleasant, avoided our calls on many occasions. Really was not worth our trouble.

We have worked with Pools By Design on a number of projects and have found them to be very professional. Their attention to detail and to looking after their customers is second to none. Well done guys. BMC Microfine

I engaged Pools by Design to build our concrete pool in the hills area in 2014. The pool design was out of the ordinary as our site was steeply sloping away and difficult to access. The contemporary infinity edge structure had to be built out of the ground like a huge bathtub. Many aspects of the pool build process required problem solving, creative thinking, tolerance of my own vision, and initiative from the foreman. The pool was to be built in tandem with very large-scale retaining walls and complete landscape reconstruction. Pools by Design were happy to co-operate with this process, and to keep up with our schedules on site to make sure the job got done in time. We had a great experience and have a magnificent pool.
