Performance Kitchens & Home

I recommend that you stay away. The design work is good, but the main business of Performance Kitchens is to sell cabinets. At some point the conflict between design and selling cabinets comes up. There are things in the design of our kitchen that are difficult to explain without the justification of selling another cabinet. We also had problems with measurements that were wrong. The cabinets were changed but this caused several weeks of delays. We also had a terrible experience with the contractor that they recommended, who wasted our time and money. He was working at a very slow pace and never brought qualified workers. They were a couple of teachers doin spare change during summer, an art school student, and a tile installer out of his depth. They were all nice people, by the way. But no the kind of workers you expect a contractor to bring to your house. We ended up with dozens of floor tiles with chipped borders and bathroom tiles that are crooked. The bathroom toilet moves to this day, they chipped the finish in the bathroom faucet, the laundry faucet is not well installed, some light switches were never installed.I also spent several weekends doing his work to try and speed up the work. I did painting and grouting. I helped to install the front door, the oven, and the fridge. I installed locks and handles. I cleaned every night and I disposed of trash. I can keep going but you get the picture. To be fair, the contractor does not work for Performance Kitchens. But he was recommended by Performance Kitchens

Great people and very good functional and creative design. Project management was good and not great with some communication issues. Their core business is selling cabinets, which were expensive but of excellent quality. Recommended installer was only ok with some minor issues around fit and finish in the installation. Overall very good experience and would recommend enthusiastically.

Thank you Performance Kitchens for helping us emerge from our 1950s kitchen to join the modern 2000s! They helped us design a wonderful kitchen and guided us on materials and placement of cabinets, appliances, tile, etc They were there every step of the way from design concepts until the very end. The contractor that they chose for us was excellent as was his staff of workers. A great team!

We have a fantastic new master bath which was designed and coordinated by Performance Kitchens (PK)). We used PK for our kitchen 20+ years ago and are thrilled we made the decision to use them again. PK's design was fantastic and flawless. The design process went well and was very efficient. PK's detailed design drawings were used by our contractor on a daily basis. PK was great in suggesting colors, style and materials. PK referred us to a phenomenal contractor who we will use again. He was able to deal with the complexities of construction in a large high rise condo building. PK referred us to a awesome tile supplier with an incredible showroom and very helpful sales personnel. PK referred us to a great bath supplier which also had a great showroom where we could choose from actual products as opposed to looking at a catalog. PK coordinated with the contractor throughout the process, made sure we were on schedule and assisted with delivery coordination. PK timely resolved an issue with a delivery mishap perfectly. PK was a pleasure to work with.

I simply love my kitchen. The Performance team is unusual. Each individual brings to the kitchen table (ha!) their own gifts and talented eye. The whole process was collaborative as well. They listened and considered my hopes and dreams and infused it into the design. The team was gentle when I had ideas that would not work — and guided me in the right direction. Each member of the team is meticulous in intention and follow-through — so it made the ride of kitchen renovation an adventure that was exciting. And the results — so pleased and happy!

Working with Performance Kitchens was a pleasure from start to finish. They made the design process very easy. They presented several different design options, which helped us to see all the possibilities. When I picked the design I wanted they did color renderings, so I could see what the final result would look like, it was very helpful. They even helped with decorative decisions, which was greatly appreciated. I was very happy with the whole process, and extremely excited with the end result.

Performance Kitchens did a great job listening to our wants, needs, tastes, and our input to provide us with a great kitchen design that works well for us. Their team of people worked with our builder to expedite special cabinet orders and to get great overall results. They went so far in make sure that our built in dog crates match and work well.

The remodel that Performance Kitchens delivered to me is everything that I had hoped for, and so much more than I could have imaged. They turned my 1978 kitchen into a modern thing of beauty. And then there is the bonus of getting to work with Nancy, Larissa, Kyle, Nate, and Brian - Perfection!

Everyone was easy to work with. The designers were very professional and friendly and were very helpful in my decision making. I would recommend them. When there was a problem with the size of one of the cabinets, the designers came to my house and worked out a solution with my contractor. I love the cabinets. The color renderings were very helpful in letting me see how my kitchen would look. I didn’t think that much could be done in my slim kitchen Philadelphia kitchen, but it looks sensational.

Not only are they experts in making your imagination “technically” work, but they also have the artistic gift in bringing beauty to the infinite technical details that are required when creating a new kitchen. My new kitchen is a dream come true. Nancy, Nate and Larissa insured that I got all the items on my wish list and helped me not go overboard. They were accessible to me and to the contractor during the entire process to ensure that things went smoothly. My neighbors have been in to see the masterpiece. We were very happy with the quality of the cabinets and the design services we received at Performance Kitchens. We were hesitant to use PK's design service because we knew how we wanted the kitchen to be laid out and the service was fairly expensive. Ultimately we went with it and were very glad we did. Even within our basic layout there was an extraordinary amount of thought and planning that went into the design - things we would never have thought of like clearances and locations/layouts of certain cabinets. It was also worth the price just to have professionally drawn plans that we could hand over to our contractor. So, in short, great product and great service, albeit a little expensive.

The staff at Performance Kitchens are creative, detail-oriented, and pleasant to work with. Great problem-solvers. Offer helpful suggestions based on experience and expertise. Highly recommend their design services. Important to know that they will not act as general contractor; you will need to do that yourself, or hire someone to do it for you. They do work with local installers, but if there are any hitches -- as there inevitably are -- it can be a bit frustrating to triangulate between Performance Kitchens, the installer, and/or seller or manufacturer. As long as you know that going in, no problem.

I love my new kitchen!! After living in my house for 18 years and always having other projects that needed to be completed, I finally got my new kitchen this summer. After many designs of our own without success, we decided to hire Performance Kitchens. Their entire process from start to finish was the highest quality. Nancy and Larissa are very knowledgeable and very patient with our many questions! During the first meeting, they came up with a wonderful design. Over the next three design meetings, we fine-tuned the design. They listened to our needs and the design reflected them. We were given many different options to select from and they made many recommendations. Did the project go smoothly? Yes and No…two of the cabinets came in from the manufacturer incorrectly built…but Performance got them rebuild and shipped to us within three weeks. One area that Performance measured to be 28 inches ended but only being 24 inches after the tear out of the old kitchen…but our contractor came up with a solution to this issue. Were the cabinets expensive? Yes, the cabinets are expensive because they are custom built and very high quality. No particle board! If you want a well-designed kitchen with quality cabinets, use Performance Kitchens. Was the design service expensive? Yes, but Nancy and Larissa designed a kitchen after listening to our needs and implementing a plan for us. It was worth EVERY penny. The design included things that I never thought of and the solutions were inventive and creative. Performance comes to your house to look at your old kitchen and see how and what is working and not working. Larissa saw my kids come in and dump their backpacks and sneakers in the middle of my kitchen. In addition, using Performance Kitchen Designs saved us from getting divorced...we had no major arguments because we were presented options to choose. When we did not understand something, they explained it to us. No question was considered minor. All our calls were answered with professionalism. Did we go over budget? Yes of course. Plan on an extra 20% over what you budgeted to get the kitchen you want…don’t skimp because you are only going to remodel your kitchen once in a lifetime. But now we have an incredible kitchen. Did we use all their vendors? No, we had our own contractor and use our own counter top company. We did purchase pull handles from them. We got some items online from Amazon or Build.com, because they were less expensive. Would I use them again? Yes, 100% yes. It was worth the money for the design services. Their design was everything I wanted in my kitchen.

The team at Performance did an outstanding job at our home in Fort Washington. After having a very unsatisfactory experience - talk only, no work - with a "design" firm in Spring House, we went to see Performance last May. We wanted our kitchen, laundry room and den renovated, as our 30 year old house badly needed work. There was insufficient room for our pots, pans, plates, etc., little closet space, a dark and tight laundry room, a small pantry and a dreary den. We asked if they could pull the design together and find contractors who could complete the work before Thanksgiving. Very ambitious. However, they laid out a plan, revised it after my spouse decided on a different color scheme, kept us in the loop the entire way, and were on top of the contractors until the job was completed. Before Thanksgiving (even though we expanded the scope). The laundry room, kitchen and den look amazing. so much more light, space, and color. Gorgeous. Our family, neighbors and friends have raved about the beautiful rooms and we couldn't be more pleased. They demand meticulous work from themselves and the contractors. Even better, they are all great to work with. A first rate experience.

I have hired Performance Kitchens 2 times. My first Kitchen was in a small apartment on Rittenhouse Square. They were able to make use of ever inch of space. Even though we thought there was only 1 way it could be designed, they blew us away with 4 very exciting designs. The process was fun because when the design was complete they showed us amazing photographic color pictures of what it was going to look like. When it was finished (which was done in 5 weeks and on budget) the color rendering pictures really looked like the completed Kitchen. When we sold our apartment, it was the kitchen (6 years old) that made the apartment sell very quickly. After moving to south Florida we called on Performance again, having such a great experience before, it was a pleasure to work with Nancy and her talented team of designers again!

We hired Performance Kitchens to design our outdated galley kitchen in Philadelphia into a functional, family-friendly space. Performance was tasked with designing different options for a very small, awkward space in our row home in Fairmount. With the help of the design team, they took the time to understand our lifestyle, our wish list and our design goals to create a handful of potential drawings. After considering all of the designs - from the most simplistic to the most dramatic - we decided to go forward with the dramatic space that would completely transform our kitchen from an outdated, dysfunctional, poorly designed space into a life-changing layout that completely opened up the room and created twice the amount of storage in the same square footage. I met with Performance Kitchen for a kitchen plan that was a tall order! I wanted all the features of a new kitchen squeezed into the space of an old small farmhouse kitchen with a large pantry. Performance Kitchen was the only company (after meeting with several) that was able to give me what I hoped for in a new kitchen. They thought "out of the box" and really delivered a smart design that made excellent use of the space. They made terrific recommendations and suggestions and were a pleasure to work with. They have a staff of really kind, caring people. The kitchen they helped us create really is a beautiful blend of new state of the art comfort and functionality with a bit of old world feel, which is exactly what I wanted. The cabinets met my husbands exceptionally high standards and all my aesthetic needs as well. The lighting plan we purchased has illuminated the space so beautifully and Performance Kitchens had some great ideas for both function and aesthetics of the lighting. The result allows me to create just the right mood and atmosphere that I want with the different lighting fixtures and dimmers. I absolutely love the functionality, flow and feel of my kitchen. Everything looks and works so beautifully. I love relaxing in it and cooking in it as well. There really isn't anything I would change. My husband and I thought we could handle the home renovation thing, but we were sorely mistaken. A few years ago we tried to do our bathroom ourselves and it was way more trouble than it was worth and with both of us working full time jobs, took us forever to get done. This time around when we decided it was time for a new kitchen, we were gladly willing to spend the money on a professional. We have sort of an awkward kitchen space in our house so we knew we definitely did not want to go to Ikea or Home Depot to get a generic kitchen. We found Performance Kitchen and Home and decided to go check out their Manayunk show room one day. I was pleasantly surprised with the diversity of kitchen styles in their portfolio. We are SO happy with the job that Performance Kitchen did. They had contractors we could work with and were with us every step of the way and took the time to learn our tastes and exactly what we wanted. The design was beautiful and resulted in our amazing new kitchen that is fully functional and a huge step up from our former space.

After years of procrastination and false starts on remodeling our old and inconvenient kitchen, we hired Performance to help us design a layout that would give us more storage, counters, light and sense of spaciousness without enlarging the actual space or busting our budget. We are very pleased with the end result – our kitchen is a delightful place to be and work. Visitors are in awe and can hardly believe that the room isn’t physically bigger. The people at Performance Kitchens are really good at what they do, and clearly enjoy their work. Our process wasn’t totally stress-free: the disconnect between our dreams and the constraints of space and finances made for a challenging design problem, and we resisted several very creative ideas that Nancy and Kyle developed that didn’t seem to give us everything we wanted for a price we wanted to pay. Eventually we agreed to compromise, eliminating a back stairway entrance to free up wall and corner space and paying more than we’d expected for quality cabinetry. Nancy and Kyle proceeded to produce a detailed plan and a computer image that gave us a near photographic picture of what the kitchen would look like. Their impressive attention to detail and understanding of how things would look and fit helped us choose cabinets and appliances. We didn’t opt for the additional cost of Performance’s Design Services Package or other consultant services, so remaining decisions on materials, decorating and coordination was on us. But their drawings and specifications made the plans easy for our contractors to follow and bid on. “Great,” said one, “they did a lot of our work for us.” The whole construction process took only 5 or 6 weeks.

I hired Performance to redo my kitchen in 2014. Their design was excellent and I would recommend them to anyone. Nancy and Kyle are the best at what they do!

They pay attention to EVERY DETAIL of the project, and are prompt in responding to questions via email and phone. Larissa and Kyle are fantastic designers, helpful, responsive, with sharp eyes for color, design and the overall layout. They make the extra effort to get everything right. They have contractors they will recommend, but we had our own contractor, Philip Congialdi, Inc. and Philip and his co-workers said this was the easiest kitchen they have ever done. In their 30+ years of experience, they have built a lot of kitchens, but because the plans/designs/blueprints were laid out so clearly and in such exacting detail, it was a smooth project from start to finish. It was seamless for us as well because Performance helped us every step of the way. It seems like hundreds, even thousands, of decisions must be made when working on a kitchen and home renovation project, and Performance assisted, consulted and advised on each one. We were so impressed and happy with their work. The kitchen is BEAUTIFUL; we love it, and it has transformed our whole house. They were excellent in every way, and we cannot say enough positive things about them.

I'll start by saying that I don't write letters of praise easily or often but I felt compelled to write this one about Performance Kitchens of Philadelphia. I live on Long Island, NY and was recommended to this company by my wife's cousin. My first concern was that of the logistics involved in creating a custom kitchen using a company that was so far away. Would they be hands on, would the quality be what I expected, was there going to be any issues with my contractor etc? Along with that, was the daunting task of recreating a somewhat small space into the dream kitchen that I envisioned. That was no problem for Performance Kitchen design team who's initial design included sealing up doors, moving walls and ingeniously rearranging every aspect of the kitchen to maximum space. It seemed like they were most comfortable thinking, "Outside the Box" Once the process started, all of my fears were washed away. Not only were there no issues, but I knew EXACTLY what my kitchen was going to look like based on a series of computer renderings that were spot on. My contractor was provided with one of the most detailed set of plans I've ever seen! But I have to say that as awesome as those things were, Performance's Customer Service staff was the BEST! As a home owner, I asked some really silly questions throughout the job, but nothing phased them. Between Nancy, Performance's Head Designer to their two Senior Designers, Larissa and Kyle, every question, concern and issue was addressed in a light handed manner that you often dream about but never get. We watched in amazement as the job progressed and this gorgeous room, like a piece of artwork was created. From a tiny space with a 30" stove/oven combo and a sink, to a kitchen with double ovens, a six burner stove, built in microwave and dishwasher and enough counter & floor space that three of us can create spectacular meals and never bump into one another, the experience and result were wonderful!!! Thank you Performance Kitchens & Home, we think of you everyday!

Can't say enough about Performance Kitchens. The most important thing they did was listen to what we wanted in our kitchen. From there, it was just an absolute pleasure to work with them. The results were just fantastic. We are planning to do our bathroom in 2015 and can't wait to see them work their 'magic' once again.

I used Performance Kitchen and Home to remodel my kitchen and it was seriously the best decision I've ever made. I cannot recommend Nancy and her team enough. I've found that sometimes when working with designers you feel like sometimes they're forcing their taste on yours and I NEVER felt that way working with the team at Performance Kitchen. Every step of the way they listened to what I wanted, took the time to understand my tastes, and the result was an absolutely beautiful kitchen that I love spending time in. I chose Performance Kitchen because they also do custom cabinets. Our old kitchen had sort of a strange lay out and I wanted someone who could completely re-layout the space and build cabinets to fit in it best and that's exactly what they did. My favorite thing is now having the trash can inside of a sliding cabinet as opposed to just sitting out in the open. They were also able to build us this great drawer for spices. Working with Performance Kitchen made the remodel painless and by no means stressful. They have construction crews that they work with so they were able to refer me to one of their trusted contractors too, I didn't have to go find one myself. I would definitely work with Performance Kitchen again in the future, perhaps to re-do my bathroom or home office when the time is right for that.

I am a general contractor who installs for performance kitchens On a number of projects . Their products and designs are top of the line and their attention to detail surpasses most in their field. The entire performance team are professional and experts in kitchen and bath design The products in which they supply have a far superior finish than other cabinet lines . These cabinet lines are also extremely well constructed so they last far longer than most other cabinets . I will be using them in my own home kitchen project this year .

There are many remodeling companies in the Philadelphia area, however, none I have found as professional and involved as Performance Kitchens. Nancy is not only knowledgeable, but deeply passionate about her job. I was so impressed with her enthusiasm and felt that she put the effort into my design as she would her very own home. Performance Kitchens did a great job of designing and installing our new kitchen. They were very professional, and hired an excellent contractor who did the work beautifully and in a very timely manner. They went over our planned budget, but the work was excellent.

Brian and Nancy remodeled our kitchen from the ground up. They designed it around the way I use my kitchen taking into account that I was left handed and had 5 kids and pets. Since we are out of town we used our own contractor and Brian communicated with him throughout the project on every detail, including preventing a disaster had the contractor taken a shortcut.

Nancy & Brian of Performance Kitchens had done an amazing kitchen remodel in my 200 year old farmhouse in Pennsylvania in the late 1980's. When I moved to Seattle over a decade later into a much "newer" (1925) house with the original kitchen, I knew exactly who to contact to design my "dream" kitchen. The bi coastal geographic challenge was nothing compared to the space constraints and lack of symmetry throughout the existing structure. To stretch their creativity even more, I wanted to retain the look of the 1920's while incorporating all the modern amenities. The result is brilliant! Not only is it beautiful too look at, but the design and functionality is perfect and easy to maintain. More importantly however, the relationship did not end with the completion of the project almost 10 years ago. Since that time, Nancy & Brian have always been available for questions and advice. I highly recommend them to make your "kitchen dream" come true... No matter if you live on the east or west coast or somewhere in between!

After 43 years living with an 1850 kitchen, the Performance L&H team listened, observed us living and designed the kitchen of our dreams. Easy to work with - very professional. Extremely creative designs. Patient. We wanted an open kitchen and did not have a lot of space and they maximized what we had and we actually had much more storage than we ever thought possible. People always comment on our beautiful cabinetry and we especially love the deep drawers. Excellent quality fabrication. What was amazing too was how easy it was to work with Performance Kitchens 3000 miles away - you wouldn't believe how our contractor said their install directions were better than if they were local! No problems whatsoever.

We wanted to take out a wall between our kitchen and dining room to create a larger kitchen. Performance Kitchens designed an amazing plan that transformed our home. in addition to taking out the wall and enlarging the kitchen, they removed a narrow hallway and relocated a closet which gave us even more space! Performance Kitchens provided a full service design and installation for the renovation of our home. It was a unique country home with many challenging aspects that needed to worked around.
