Designing and making a new home, or renovating an existing one, is a creative endeavour involving many decisions and possibilities across a large spectrum of areas and disciplines – from selection of the site and developing a design brief, working with councils and their rules, and devising and resolving a design, to engaging and partnering a builder suitable to your project. With years of knowledge, experience and training in understanding and resolving these issues pragmatically and with creativity, for many many commissions, the architects at PAUA are well-equipped to assist you with your project. Architecture is in our heart and soul (as it is for many of our clients), and we enjoy and value the dialogue that develops through the course of a project. Antanas and his team were all great to work with, we met together many times but they were also always available for discussion via email and phone. Being a stickler for detail it was great to work alongside professionals who were on the same page. Building/renovating is such a roller coaster of excitement, mess and stress. The planning part with the architect is so exciting, it's the best bit...that and finishing the project and knowing that it was all worth it, all the planning and decisions made. There's not a day that goes by without me thinking that I'm glad the architect suggested this or that and I'm glad we decided to do it.

My partner and I hired Paua for the renovation of our 1950's weatherboard home. While we did not end up going ahead with renovations for personal reasons, we still wanted to share our experience. Antanas went above and beyond to develop a plan which not only encompassed the elements we wished for but more importantly also took how we lived into consideration. We liked the personal touch which Paua showed, this made the whole experience less daunting and also meant that we felt we could give and receive honest feedback at the various stages of the project. We would have no hesitation in recommending Antanas and his team.

Paua have designed projects for us, and we have also worked in conjunction with them and their clients. They are definitely professional, and come up with great design ideas and solutions. We find them very accommodating when it comes to clients' particular requirements, and they work efficiently with us through solutions for challenging building projects.

PAUA Architects, then Antanas Procuta Architects, designed a house for my husband Bill and me in 2002. We worked with Antanas, and his staff member Richard Mauriohooho, from go to whoa. They listened to us, visited our existing home and new building site, advised us, respected our very modest budget, found an excellent builder, and developed a simple, delightful house that our family loves to this day. We came in on budget, no over-runs, still with a strong relationship with our architects and builders.

Our house was finished 10 years ago, what I remember was that Geoff Lentz and I had a lot of laughs in the design process and still enjoy catching up from time to time. I showed him pictures of what we wanted and he came up with a stunner. I would change things now (not a lot), but one has to live in the house to learn that.
