Beautiful design and work but extremely challenging to work with. Huge ego and difficulty incorporating client suggestions and feedback. “His way or the highway.” Outrageously expensive. If you have any kind of budget don’t bother.

I can't say enough great things about Patrick Ahearn and his team. Extraordinarily talented. Amazing vision. Super caring. Thoughtful design and detail. Incredibly responsive. Creativity extraordinaire!! My project was a complete renovation of an old and outdated Victorian mansard and my challenge to Patrick was to "save it" - bring it back to its former glory as a grand seaside manor but for today's lifestlye. Patrick and his team far exceeded my expectations. Through thoughtful and unique vision and re-design, the house was transformed into, as one realtor put it, "one of the most beautiful homes on the South Shore." Patrick and his team created a feeling of "gracious casual", with an open floor plan, tons of french doors and multi-paned windows, and classic Patrick Ahearn details of beadboard ceilings and custom built-ins. He fashioned the home as the heart of indoor/outdoor living and entertaining with clever use of Victorian elements such as the expansive wrap-around decks and entertaining kitchen and space in the Tower and adjacent deck. Bottom line - an amazing job by amazing architects! They are true professionals and a pleasure to work with!

We had the pleasure of working with Patrick and his team on an extensive renovation of an old home. From start to finish Patrick and his team were true professionals who payed attention to every detail, from initial design through permitting and construction management. But most importantly, we ended up with a house we truly love and it wouldn't have been possible without Patrick.

Patrick is simply a visionary who can nearly instantly transform your goals into the perfect vision. He carefully balances what you think you want with what he feels will be represent the land, home and vision of the owner. His patience and humor make the journey almost as delightful as the end product.

Patrick designed , oversaw and approved progress payments for the construction of a house in Katama, MV that my wife and I had built in 2014-15. He did an excellent job in designing and overseeing the construction of our beautiful home. The detailed requirements ( especially the exterior and interior woodworking) that he specified in both our home and the carriage house are remarkable. My wife refers to the house as " a dream come through ". We have been coming to MV for 20 years, rented houses in Katama and stayed in Inns up island and in Edgartown for all of those years. We are now "residents" ( part time) and have a beautiful home there to come to as time allows. Patrick was the architect of our house in Brookline. We can say nothing less than extraordinary. He perfectly interpreted our desires. Was very diligent in the various refinements that led to the final architectural project in an incredibly short time. Finally, but extremely important for us, was Patrick's consistent support during the construction period.

Patrick and team were architects for a complete renovation of our home in 2013/14. It is an historic and unique beautiful home but in tough shape inside and out. We needed an architectural firm that could design additions and alterations keeping the aesthetic of the original house. They did a fantastic job. Worth every penny. Patrick is more than an architect. His plans are a work of art. As a developer, I have built a couple of Patrick Ahearn's gambrels in Katama, a well-known Cape that told a story, and a complicated downtown historic Edgartown Greek Revival. He is a master of interior and exterior size and scale, with each room giving a feel of comfort and home. I appreciate, admire and enjoy Ahearn projects sprinkled throughout Edgartown. His projects stand head and shoulders above all others because of his extensive experience and attention to detail. Patrick's plans often call for brick or stone foundations, perfectly proportional rise and run of the gambrels, Pella architectural windows with historic windowsills, Atlantic Shutters, Nantucket beadboard, his unique use of crown molding and wall paneling. I LOVE it all and appreciate Patrick's skills as a master of architecture. When Patrick is presented with a challenging downtown plot plan, a Katama height restriction, or building privacy into a home, his experience makes the correct answers look easy. Developers, contractors, sub-contractors, and suppliers respect Patrick Ahearn and their work reflects their admiration. Most importantly, Patrick is an honest, hard working, experienced, fair and knowledgeable man.
