At Hyve Architects we love to create carefully crafted, beautiful and original buildings which work perfectly for our clients. We design light-filled extensions, sensitive conversions of older buildings, and unique contemporary new houses which are energy efficient and eco-friendly. While we focus on homes, we also enjoy creating inspirational work spaces to help your business grow. And we love to come up with great design solutions to everyday problems, whether it is an awkward shaped home that you have outgrown, or a special set of requirements for your family. Does all this sound expensive? It needn’t be. Your budget and your needs are the starting point for every design. We will give you realistic advice on the cost of your project at the start, and we will guide you to a solution that fits your budget, large or small. Our practice is based in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire and we have been providing Chartered Architect services for over 10 years from our office in Evan Street. I was looking to extend my property by adding a master bedroom and bathroom. Choosing Hyve to assist me was an easy decision after being impressed with their previous work and their obvious enthusiasm for the build. Firstly we decided to expand the scope of work to add a more contemporary feel to the whole house, making better use of the space on offer and adding much needed light. Then knowing that I would need a high level of support throughout, I asked Hyve to project manage for me. They were great. Always on hand with new and exciting ideas and working closely with the contractor to ensure that an extremely high standard of finish was achieved. The result is exceptional, far exceeding the original brief and has transformed my living space. Huge thanks to Hyve. I look forward to working with them again on another project in the near future.

My house is a two bedroomed bungalow built in the twenties which I have lived in for the past 35 years. Now retired … I dreamed of a house with more room and light … a happy, modern home which I could comfortably grow old in … but I could not envisage an addition to my property which would compliment the traditional style. Nikki came to the rescue and plans were drawn up for a new kitchen diner, utility room and shower room with large full length windows which surprisingly blend in with the old part of the house. Hyve, the building contractor and myself were a team with the same vision of high standards and attention to detail and with Tess project managing the build … it made life much less stressful for myself. I am more than delighted with my new home and would highly recommend Hyve for the very efficient and first class service they provide.

We hired Hyve Architects to design and project manage our extension. Our remit was space and light. We demolished an old galley kitchen and added a split level space with a Zinc roof on the back along with a utility room and a shower room too. Decking completed the space, bringing the garden into our home. Nikki and Tess at Hyve were great to deal with, always ready with advice and we loved their design and their enthusiasm for the project. They were very professional at all times and I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

We purchased a house that had been divided into a main house with granny annex and wished to turn it into a large integrated property. Nikki and her team at Hyve really took the time to get to know what was important to us and as a result came up with some design ideas which suited our lifestyle as well as showing us possibilities which we hadn't thought of. Unfortunately just as he build started I was diagnosed with cancer. Nikki and her team managed the project wonderfully and I had no concerns even though I was effectively not able to be on site. The end result has surpassed our expectations and we have a wonderful and unique family home.

My wife and I bought our house after the previous owner had commissioned Nikki and team to design a sizeable modern extension to the house which is listed. In the past I had used a specific firm of Architects, however as the design had been Nikki's baby and creation we decided to remain with her firm.We were not to be disappointed. Nikki and Nicole were excellent to deal with always attentive and, as important, returned calls and emals timeously. When we introduced one or two changes they thoroughly investigated the implications of these amendments. Their control of the project was impressive as was the records of the build from start to finish. They regularly appeared on site to ensure the appointed contractor followed the plans precisely. For a highly personal, professional firm I would not hesitate to recommend Nikki and her team.

Drumview House, Monboddo, Fordoun. We chose Nikki and her team at Hyve architecture in Stonehaven after several very positive meetings with our design brief. The Orientation of the house has been fantastic for views to the open countryside, solar gain with heat retaining glass and for heating domestic hot water. Nikki was very adaptable to changes to our plans and very efficient with submitting documentation to Aberdeenshire council and the planning department. We were very fortunate to have Vik Peterkin / Peterkin homes to build our house and there building team were fantastic from start to finish . We are delighted with the final product and the high level of Insulation throughout the property has been worth it. I would highly recommend Hyve architecture to anyone going into a new build project. Mr & Mrs Giles.

Nikki and her team changed our house into a home. Friendly team with an eye for gorgeous homes! The attention to detail was such that a "good looking design" was in favour with the local and national building standards. Very little changed when handing the detailed design drawings to building contractor which again confirmed the attention to detail and understanding into how all the trades operate and construct buildings. One final point, estimate versus final build cost was very accurate giving you confidence in Hyves abilities. Highly recommended! Roy

Light was at the centre of our requirement to add a modern extension and refurbish our Edwardian home. Nikki and the team came up with a number of innovative design ideas complete with sketches and photographs to help us visualise the concepts until we landed on one which perfectly combined the old and new with a common theme which matches the name of the house - The Gables. Throughout the project, Hyve worked tirelessly to smooth out wrinkles in the planing process, contractor selection and project implementation. They closely advised on both the interior and exterior finishes. Creative designers, trusted advisors - that’s Hyve in a nutshell.
