Norfolk County's Distinguished Architect

MASS Architect is different than other architectural practices around New England. Nicholas Paolucci is the sole proprietor of the business, involved in all phases of the design and construction process of your project. He offers architectural design and construction documentation services for residential additions and new homes at a lower cost than the larger firms and a much quicker turnaround time to help get your project up and running. Nick can work directly for homeowners or as a design-build team with general contractors and developers. MASS Architect has a close knit reliable group of contractors, civil and structural engineers, and professional 3d rendering artists who help bring the project to life. After receiving your inquiry, Nick will meet with you at your home at no initial cost and propose a cost estimate within a day outlining the architectural fee and time required for drawing your custom home, addition or renovation. The construction budget, approximate square footage, and estimated drawing time required are all taken into account when providing the proposal. A plot plan/survey of the lot done by a licensed surveyor or civil engineer is typically required for any new home or addition before starting the architectural drawings. The design process is broken down in 4 phases : 1. Existing Conditions - measuring the existing home & drafting plans and elevations showing any demolition (may include Matterport virtual walkthrough) 2. Design Development - designing new plans & elevations showing the scope of work involved in your project (may include 3d renderings) 3. Construction Documents - providing structural framing & foundation plans required for building permit 4. Construction Administration - answering any questions & making any changes needed during construction A full stamped set of permit drawings typically cost around 5% of the ballpark construction budget ranging from $10,000-$50,000 depending on the size and complexity of the project. Construction costs have inflated to over $300/square foot and vary from builder to builder.

Mass Architects did a great job with the design. He was able to listen and design something that my wife and I liked. He also did amazing job with helping us getting our permit. Our Town tends to be somewhat difficult to work with. Nick was able to work with us to navigate that process.

Nick is reliable, responsive & talented - We highly recommend him as an architect for your project. My husband and I were looking to transform an oversized ranch-style house into a two-story home for our family... This has been a major 3-floor renovation that has fully come to fruition because of Nick's planning & attention to detail. We had a vision for our project, Nick listened to that vision and brought it to life with his drawings, all while ensuring that the structural components and compliance to all the various MA building regulations were followed. Best of all, Nick tackled this in about a month's time, helping us adhere to a very tight timeline. We had to revise certain components of the original drawings due to budget constraints & unexpected circumstances (e.g. the location of the gas meter interfering with the size of the front porch), and Nick hastily adjusted with creative and beautiful solutions. He really is a gem - He worked within our budget, adhered to our timeline, responded to all of our needs/concerns, and best of all, brought the vision of our dream home to life! 5+ stars for Mass Architect, LLC!!

Nick prepared plans for a 3 story addition to my home complete with roof deck and a new master bath. He is very knowledgeable with codes and quick to accept changes that bring positive impacts to the project but will professionally explain why the proposed changes may be detrimental to the project or violate code. Returns calls quickly and completes assignments on time. Very price competitive

To say Nicholas is a Spectacular Architect is an understatement! From the beginning, he has always been accommodating to all of our needs and requests. He has been supportive through all the changes we have wanted to make, and very patient with me through the hundreds of emails (and very quick to respond)! We are in the beginning stages of building our home from the ground up, and this man has given us all the attention to detail from day one. Nicholas always coached us and gave us the best suggestions without being overwhelming or overbearing, but always had our best interest in mind! Nick has truly been a pleasure to work with on our most recent construction project. We hired Nick to create the custom design plans for a new construction house we are building. He was extremely flexible and responsive through the early meetings needed to come up with several concepts and he remained extremely patient and helpful as we worked through numerous iterations of the plans. He helped us maximize the space we had with a challenging lot and created a fantastic layout with attractive exterior elevations. His prices were fair, his turnaround times were amazing and the quality of his work was top notch. Would absolutely recommend working with Nick and Mass Architect.

We hired Nick to design the renovation of our old single-family home. It was a major project involving removing walls and adding structural beams. Nick was very easy to work with, extremely responsive, and provided us with a variety of different ideas. He always answered our questions, provided recommendations when asked, and was very patient with us while we went back and forth on the designs. He always updated our drawings with the additional minutiae we asked for and made sure we were satisfied with the results. He was able to provide variations on the drawings for each stage, with extra detail for each different contractor (the carpenter needed more detail on the reenforced beams; another contractor wanted extra detail on the exterior specs). Each time, Nick got us what we needed in no time. We would highly recommend him.

We described the job to him which included tearing down a 3 season porch and putting an addition in its place to bump out the kitchen and create a new mud room. It also involved designing a new deck off the kitchen and a master bath on the 2nd floor. Nick was so amazing to work with! My husband and I have outgrown our small 900 sq. foot beach house and we were looking to add a 2nd level. We didn't know what to expect but Nick provided us with some pictures and we were able to pick a design that worked with our lifestyle, taste, & our neighborhood.
