For the past ten years Martin Pierce Hardware has been casting his sculptural door hardware using the timeless yet labor intensive lost wax method. He is involved in the design process from start to finish beginning with his own highly detailed sketch that becomes a carved wax mold that accepts the molten metal to ultimately form a functional piece of hardware. His unique and exquisite collections range from the original and iconic Hedgerow line to the contemporary Ergo and Morphic collections to the unexpected whimsical creations found in the Animal and Netsuke line. Two metals are most often used in the casting of these products. Bronze is typically used for classic, nature inspired and organic themes and stainless steel is used for more contemporary designs. While more expensive than the typical "off the rack" hardware, they cast using the hiqhest quality silicon bronze and 304 stainless steel, the most durable steel available. All of their products are proudly made here in the Los Angeles area but they work with clients from all over the world. With a concern for the environment, they take care to keep their production process as eco- friendly as possible through the use of recycled metals, for example.
