We had a "dead" area in the yard next to our house. We contacted Hammerhead Stoneworks for ideas. Marc designed a beautiful patio that fit well with the style of our home. The stone work was painstakinly done by Marc and his crew. The end result is a beautiful and functional patio that provides us with an outside space for relaxation as well as for entertaining. In addition, they reworked a bedding area in our driveway that now has stone walls that make a wonderful entrance. Marc and his crew are extremely professional and dedicated to their work. Wish I had other projects for them!

The walkway that they created for us feels much more like a piece of art than just a simple walkway. We absolutely love it. The walkway sets the entire tone as you enter into our backyard haven. We also had some previous drainage issues which Marc fixed before they laid the stone and it is perfectly done. He took pictures every step along the way so that I could see the underground work and progress. The walkway is my favorite part of our entire remodel...it is the piece that brings the whole picture together. Marc, was recommended to me by a friend and I highly recommend him. I could not have asked for better service or a more beautiful finished project. I can't wait to work with him again on our front walkway and porch!

We hired Hammerhead Stone Works to re-do a cracked gray-granite stone wall, which was on the verge of collapsing. Marc and his workers gave us a design plan, costs estimate and time estimate. We agreed with the design/plan and costs, and have the most beautiful, stone wall surrounding our hillside top garden. The wall has no cement, and hugs our hillside above our rather steep garden below. The wall has added beauty and value to our property, and everyone who sees it admires the craftsmanship, and design added to our garden. We have never regretted the work and the wonderful craftsmen/women who helped put the stones in the exact correct places. The rains come and the wall stands majestically setting off our upper garden. WE are delighted to recommend this company, and their seriously beautiful crafted work.

Marc and his wonderful crew have done three jobs for me: 1) built a long set of stone steps going down the slope along one side of my house and 2) laid a circular stone walk around the perimeter of my "Circle Garden". The steps are perfectly laid to match my stride so they feel very comfortable-- and they are very sturdy -- a real pleasure to use, finally making it safe to walk down that slope. The circle walkway is a work of art, both in the choice of stone (which has a beautiful color and pattern) and in the precision with which the stones are fitted together. No power tools were used -- all manual chipping and fitting. Marc suggested both the particular stone and the arrangement of a few shallow steps leading to the walkway -- ideas I would not have had myself and that made the walkway so special. everyone who sees it remarks on its beauty. Finally, Marc built two stone benches for the garden and helped me place them in the most advantageous places -- again he had ideas for their placement that were better than my ideas. Marc and his are are real professionals and fine craftsmen.

Marc is a respectable business man who always showed up on time, and on budget for the stonework he completed at our second home in Asheville. Marc co-created a sacred fire circle in our meadow for gatherings of community to celebrate life and Spirit. The circle is a 50 foot diameter masterpiece, with a granite boulder retaining wall and patio surface of Tennessee flagstone. On the surface a black leather granite circle surrounding the manganese fire bowl denotes the inner area where sacred practice occurs. Within this inner circle the surface changes to Pennsylvania Blue Stone and is adorned with various size and types of stone representing the planets in their orbit around the sun (this was exclusively Marc's idea once he had taken the time and initiative to understand the purpose this circle was to serve). Surrounding the circle is a dry stack knee high wall that serves as seating or as backrest when sitting on the ground; there are four entrances into the circle through this wall at each of the cardinal compass points where mammoth granite boulders mark the North, South, East, and West. Our gatherings have had as many as 96 people, enjoying the comfort and beauty of this sacred space. Marc has also complimented our new home with a meandering stone pathway to the front door, and two "balancing stone" benches which are the conversation of all who visit! Working with Marc has been a pleasure, and throughout the process I have come to consider him a very special and dear friend; he and his crew have become family with their warm, sincere and courteous manner, and always have a home here to enjoy with us. This man's precision and excellence in his craft are unparalleled with any stone artisan we have worked with previously, or known through friends. He communicates with his medium in an organic and intimate way that always yields amazing art and profound functionality. This soft spoken, insightful individual contains a universe of ideas and the vision to bring them to execution with his talented team. When i look out into the fields I can still see the small plastic enclosure Marc and his crew constructed to keep the propane heat in as they painstakingly chiseled away at stone in the midst of the winter snows and howling winds ... in a way their energy lives on quite vividly, inhabiting the stones they laid.

I thought this company was great: professional, flexible, excellent craftsman and women. They also were reliable and showed up at the time they said they would. They were able to craft an unusual border as well as a more traditional wall that I am very happy with and that fits perfectly in my yard. Hire them, highly recommended.

Marc and his crew replaced a 3-4 foot tall old landscape timber wall in our vegetable garden with a beautiful stone one! They removed the old timbers and were able to get them to someone who could reuse them. Then they built a wonderful stone wall to replace the old one. Marc and his crew are very professional, work hard, and listen to how you want your project to look. They were also able to help us with an erosion problem, building some berms that have completely taken care of the problem. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Hammerhead Stoneworks and would highly recommend them. This retaining wall in our garden is exactly what we envisioned!

i selected this company based on their artistic abilities. Our project involved replacing an old deck with a generous patio and creating stairs descending to our back entrance. Hammerhead employees were meticulous in their craft with very tight dry laid stone. They planned for drainage issues, kept the site clean, and worked as a team employing individual strengths. We had a twelve step rise constructed with a three step section and then alternating landings The cadence of the climb and descent is perfect. The artistic 'mosaic' goes beyond standard rock masonry. When Marc was confronted with my desire to design a rectangular fire table he welcomed the creative challenge by creating a design that allowed fire light to dance on the patio through gaps in the stone monoliths. The result is a unique and out of the box collaboration. They are beyond professional and enjoy what they do. Everyone who sees the finished project is wowed. I highly recommend this remarkable team.

We hired Marc at Hammerhead Stoneworks to design, create a curving stacked stone wall around the front of our home. It was a bit of a challenge as we have a large cypress tree immediately in front of our porch. Marc came up with an aesthetically breathtaking design--to enclose the tree with the rock wall thereby protecting it with two garden areas on either side. Marc and his craftsmen reminded me of the Keebler Elves as if they had worked on a palace in the Italian Renaissance: attention to detail to the fit of each rock, always working, always respectful and always focused on quality. He chose beautifully colored and interestingly sized stone. He chiseled each individual stone--they lock incredibly tight--so the wall remains tightly built and long lasting all without mortar of any kind. Hammerhead Stoneworks and Marc did what they said they would do, when they said they would do it and at the price they quoted at the beginning. How incredibly refreshing and rare! We could not more highly recommend these artisans from another age to anyone desirous of specialty craftsmanship and quality.
