Chi siamo

My name is Janis Haves, I design and make all the lamps and chandeliers you see here and lots more besides. It's not hard to become addicted to working in glass. To say it changes the way you see the world doesn't even begin to describe it and it certainly never fails to work its magic on me. Whether it be the blues that describe skies and oceans and streams, the yellows and oranges that burst with juicy citrus optimism or the shades of woodland green, dappled with sunlight and summer. Of course, don't forget those unashamed reds and decadent violets and purples. I started working in glass almost by accident. With a 10 year history as an interior designer it wasn't a big jump to making the lights I most wanted to see, but couldn't find anywhere. I'm often asked what the inspiration behind Lovers Lights was. I can only say colour. Something amazing happens when you turn on the light behind the colour, it is in fact inspirational all on its own and trust me - it's hard not to fall in love!

We bought a chandelier for our dinning room. It is one of those items which will become a family heirloom. I just love it - it is unusual and beautiful. I smile every time I see it lit up. I chose it in the shop, where it was part of a display. They delivered it to me around two weeks later. My only bit of supportive criticism is it would have been good to be offered the correct electrical ceiling fitting to go with it. My electrician had to track one down, which added to the delay in getting it fitted.

Hi Mary, I'm so glad you're happy with your light. Just to clarify, the lights don't need a special electrical fitting, just a lighting hook. I offer the same type that is used in gallery to display the lights. I think I couldn't reach you for for a while after you bought the lights so perhaps that why we ended up missing that conversation.

I have a number of articles in my home made by Janis, and just love them! They are hand made, individual and slightly whacky whilst remaining elegant and a designer items! The lamps and chandeliers that Janis makes are done to colour specification and she is brilliant at getting colour mixes that look stunning. Prices are very reasonable for a bespoke product! Highly recommended.

In the last few years we have bought a number of Janis's lights, both for ourselves and as presents for others. It is likely that we will buy more in the future. I would urge anyone interested in creative and unique lighting for their home to visit the 'Lovers Lights' website to view what she has on offer (not just her own work, but that of others, some of which we have also bought). In particular, we commissioned her to design and make a standard lamp for our new extension. To do this, she visited our home to take photos in order to get a good colour match and created a lamp for us that is a focal point of the room. We are contemplating further commissions. Highly recommended.

I had admired Janis's beautiful lamps for some time in Lovers Lights', and was delighted to find that she took commissions, so I could have a lamp created for me that exactly fitted my decor. Janis was great to deal with, created exactly what I wanted, and followed up to make sure I was happy with everything.
