Edit: Kyle at Wolfworks reached out to me after my review and took the time to exchange several emails with me to understand what my wife and I were unhappy with. I'm pleased with their customer focus, even if this project didn't end up as we had hoped. Wolfworks refunded our fee and even gave us an update on the air to water heat pump technology we had been interested in. (Original review): Wolfworks did a scoping plan for us - we drove out to Farmington for them to present the plan, and what we got was a 40 minute sales pitch. The plan itself turned out to be some pictures of boxes added to a floor plan in MS Paint. (We had given them the floor plan). No particular ideas on the technologies we wanted to use. There was a four page scoping report, which was mostly copy/paste from.a standard template. For this, we paid them $800. The overall vibe from them was "well you have a small house and a limited budget, so it's not worth it for us to work with you".

Jamie is an expert on net zero design as well as being an excellent architect. Janet's down-to-earth style made the building experience fun and we appreciated her attention to quality.

Jamie is a master listener. He created a vision for our room addition after interviewing us and then followed through by building a magnificent space full of light. Our goal was to be able to see the forest from the kitchen through the large windows in the new room. Mission accomplished!

We hire Jamie and his company Wolfworks Inc. to design and build and bring up to date a 1938 colonial that hadn't seen much updating in it's life. We needed more space but did want just another great room, open floor plan, huge build out project. We wanted a home that fit our environmentally sensibilities. Small footprint/carefully designed spaces. We spent a lot of time on the design process and wanted a lot done with a tight budget. We were able to come up with solutions pretty much for any problem relating to design or budget. Jamie has a great sense of space and client needs. He could tell we wanted a small energy footprint and took that into account at every turn. When we weren't sold on the first few ideas for the kitchen, half bath, mudroom build out, he came back with 5 more ideas. The lot the house is on is in the hundred year flood plain and presented difficulties with the town. Jamie worked with the town and came up with solutions to their concerns that kept the project moving forward and got it done and looking great.

Wolfworks did two recent projects for us, a whole apartment (condo) renovation (2012) and the addition of pergolas with solar panels on two of our rooftop decks (2016). Jamie's interest in energy efficiency, solar, and design transformed a dated, energy hog 1970s condo into a modern, energy efficient, and comfortable home. The solar pergolas provided much-needed shade on the rooftop decks too and the solar is a bonus.

We worked with Wolfworks utilizing their design and build services in the construction of a new home. Our goal was to build a high quality home that worked for us functionally, a beautiful space to live in, easy to maintain, and energy efficient. Jamie and Janet met or exceeded our expectations in all these areas. For us, the design process went very smoothly. We had previous done some design work with another firm, and Jamie was able to take that work along with our wish list and produce a design that addressed the problems with the previous design along with including all our must haves. During the construction, the contractors that Wolfworks brought to the job were top notch. When issues did arise, they were addressed in a timely manner. We did experience some unforeseen material shortages that caused a minor delay in the completion date, but they were out of Wolfworks control. I also felt that both Jamie and Janet were watching out to insure that what was constructed met their high expectations. If it did not, it would be addressed. Jamie taught me that we were really building a low load home. We are energy efficient, but the key is that the home is so well insulated that our heating and cooling requirements are minimal. So minimal, that with the use of our Solar Panels, we are truly a Net Zero home. We did not start out with this goal, but Jamie showed us that it was achievable without that much additional cost. This emphasis led to us being selected as co-winners of the 2013 CT Zero Energy Challenge. Above all, we really love our home and enjoy living in it. We get very positive comments from just about anyone who visits, from friends and family to the UPS guy or the person delivering compost (really!). Overall, I would recommend Wolfworks to anyone looking to build a home or doing a remodeling project.

Wolfworks is one of the most accomplished and respected firms in New England when it comes to green building. Jamie Wolf has been a leader at NESEA for many years and has been building some of the best energy efficient homes in the country during that time. We offer similar services but work primarily in SW Connecticut and Westchester/Putnam counties in NY. Whenever we receive inquiries from homeowners located in the northern half of Connecticut, we always refer them to Wolfworks as the one firm that we know will have the capabilities to offer guidance regarding the planning for a well-built green home.

We had a wonderful experience with Wolfworks, renovating our kitchen and wet bar in our 18th century home . We gutted the old kitchen, moved walls and doorways, and blended the old with the new, combining stock cabinets with custom work. Wolfworks built a beautiful sideboard with long leaf pine, and a dining banquette in the kitchen that we used almost every night for dinner. Everything was beautifully finished and every detail considered before construction, so there were no surprises- very unusual in a renovation.

Jamie has a great understanding of spacial relationships with design elements. His final product is beautiful and practical for daily living. The spaces he creates are meant to be lived in, not just looked at.

Wolfworks and Jaime Wolf transformed our house into the home I always knew it could be. I believed that my house had enough space, it just wasn't used to it's best advantage. Our kitchen, laundry & mudroom, screened porch and entire rear of the house was transformed! Jaime listened to my concerns, and was able to draw out things through his interview process that I didn't even realize were important to how we were utilizing our space. The entire process was seamless and transparent. Detailed estimates of design and build were presented and carefully explained. Wolfworks was my most expensive estimate but I believe they were also the most thorough and the results were well worth the expense. The job site was cleaned every day, the crew arrived on time and put in a full day. Permits were pulled and the whole process was very well managed. My home was delivered back to me better than I could have imagined, right on time! My eight week project took eight weeks, and there was somebody on site virtually every day. Best of all I felt listened to and my ideas and concerns were always taken seriously and addressed fully.

Wolf Works did an absolutely beautiful job on a major renovation of our home. Our challenge was to turn a Disco 80's house with potential into a rustic contemporary meets mid century modern oasis. Wolf Works came through and helped move us through every step of the process. We were told when to go pick out fixtures, flooring, door handles, toilets, shower heads, paint color, counter tops, and cabinets. We were decisive (which helped) but needed the guidance around when to do what. The design that Jamie and Janet came up with and the suggestions they made turned our house into a place that inspires, calms, and reenergizes us every single day. The ONLY thing we would have liked done differently is more frequent communication/updates between the project manager and ourselves. One quick weekly Monday talk would have sufficed. Sometimes we were expecting contractors and they didn't show up; other times they came when we didn't expect them. We understood that things come up; we just wanted to know in order to plan.
