We couldn't be happier with the landscaping project for our backyard done by Alterra Design. Everything went so smoothly from the initial meeting and design to the project execution. The result is just what I envisioned, perhaps even better. Communication throughout the process was excellent, too.

Thank you to Alterra Landscape Design for the absolutely beautiful redesign of our backyard; from building a modern overhead patio structure, to resurfacing and updating the pool and new pavers, to a new fence, and landscaping. This has been a truly differentiated experience, with continuous dialog at the center of the experience. Hayden, our main contact, listened to our needs and provided multiple options within our budget. Throughout the project, he was onsite daily, and made us feel we were his top priority – even if we called on a weekend. The crew for the various projects worked diligently – they were gracious and cleaned up every day. Their attention to detail and quality workmanship exceeded our expectations – we didn’t think companies like that existed anymore. Their passion for creating both a stunning and functional outdoor space shined through. They even proactively reached out to neighbors to make sure no one was bothered or inconvenienced by noise or parking. Alterra and our project designer Tyler Bigham were amazing from start to finish. Our new home backed up to the woods, so we wanted a large deck and bar with an outdoor kitchen and covered pergola. Tyler had extensive knowledge of the building materials needed and the plants for upgrading the landscaping front and back. He provided 3d renderings of the project, and took care of everything - construction, landscape, sprinkler re-routing and beautiful lighting for the deck and the landscape front and back. The crew was remarkable - always on-time, efficient and hard-working (thanks Hugo!). The whole project was finished in about a month, which was great! we are tremendously pleased, and our friends and neighbors are impressed as well. Both Tyler and Alterra obviously have a great deal of integrity, and that is rare in today's world. Thanks again Alterra, our home is now a showcase in both the front and back - we love it!

Alterra, Jeff and his team did a phenomenal job on our complete renovation and redesign of our front yard. Jeff was involved during the entire process -- from initial meeting, to design brainstorming, to HOA submission, to completion, to occasionally checking to make sure everything is still in order after completion. Jeff is very thorough and helped ensure we had everything necessary for City and HOA approval. A little overview on this project -- My front yard has a substantial slope, causing runoff and soil erosion. As a result, we had foundation damage and required 19 piers (which, through digging under the house, completely tore up what was left of the front yard landscaping). I called many companies with a vision of a modern, tiered/level design to keep from future erosion of the front yard. Many companies balked at the idea as over the top. However, Alterra Design and Jeff were open, on board, and helped design our new 3 tiered front yard. Our front yard and house now look amazing and is one, if not the best looking landscapes in Sachse. I highly recommend Alterra.

Alterra did an amazing job on our back patio. The team came out to to look at our existing patio and made excellent suggestions for how to improve it to turn it into a true outdoor living space. This included tiling the floor, expanding our outdoor kitchen to include a larger counter, vent hood, mini fridge and trash drawer, as well as installing an outdoor fireplace and built in storage bins. Everything turned out beautifully and everyone involved did excellent work. We receive compliments all the time. The work was done as quoted - no surprises - and in a timely manner. We worked with Tyler who was always responsive, reliable and enthusiastic.

The experience we had with Alterra was top notch - from my first call with Hayden Davenport all the way through to the final project and followup. After a complete home renovation, our landscaping project was a full front yard redesign and custom landscaping to accent the new home exterior. Based on our input and likes/dislikes, Hayden created a beautiful design which we loved and didn’t make one change to (we usually make many adjustments to designs - it wasn’t necessary with Hayden’s design). Because we live in a large community, Hayden handled the required approvals from the Home Owners Association which was very helpful. The installation took about three days and the installers were experts that operated with care and cleanliness. All the plants were quality plants and are thriving. The followup has been quite impressive; all questions I’ve had about caring for the lawn and plants have been thoroughly answered.

I love my updated look in the front yard of my 100 year old house! Jeff and the team were professional and yet personal throughout the entire process. Alterra did a fantastic job on our front yard and we highly recommend them to anyone who is considering a landscape design and installation! Our front yard project was a complete overhaul - ripped out every plant and came up with a design and install that exceeded our expectations - a wonderful mix of several hardscape elements, native plants, trees and lighting that are unique and blend perfectly together. This was our second major project with Alterra. We were so happy with the first project that we did not think to consider anyone else. Once again they delivered on time and within budget. They really listen to what we want, brainstorm ideas, collaborate with us and put together real world options within the cost we envision. We are thrilled with the results.

We chose Alterra Landscape to help us design and build our backyard outdoor living, and I must say it looks amazing!!! They built a pergola, water feature and a fire pit for us. The water feature design won a Texas Landscape Bronze award! If we had any questions or concerns during the build process, Alterra responded very promptly and all issues were resolved! I cannot speak more highly of Jeff and his entire team for the work they did on our front yard landscape. We lost everything due to the "great TX freeze" so it was really a blank slate. Jeff and his crew did an amazing job on our landscape. We worked together on the design, Jeff let me pick out all the plants and trees at the nursery, and the installation crew had it all planted in 2 days, including hardscapes and a firepit (unexpected add to the scope!). The best part was that they set all the plants out in place per the design (not planted, still in pots) and gave us a day to study and see if we wanted to move or change anything. You can't really tell how the spacing, plant height, & color combinations are going to work until you actually see it in place. They want you to LOVE your landscape, so they are very accommodating and understanding with changes. They programmed the sprinkler system to adequately water the new landscape, and 2 months later, all my plants look great! It was the easiest home improvement project I've ever had, and I get tons of compliments.

I hired Jeff and his team to design and install the transformation of my back yard. They took my vision and made it a reality. It could not have turned out better. I get so many complements and have gotten so much enjoyment out of my new space.

Jeff and his team did a a great job on our patio design and build out. We have a giant live oak with tons of shade so had to give up on grass. Jeff found a great mix of plants and functional surfaces to make our backyard functional and green. We were also happy with follow up on lingering items that needed to be addressed which come with a larger project.

Where to start?! First, I am a known killer of plants so it was really important that I had a yard that required low maintenance and skill. Secondly, I also needed someone that could look at my small yard (that consists mainly of a pool) and give me a design that was both lush and manageable. I interviewed a lot of companies, but so many people's designs had no aesthetic to them. Enter Jeff Riddle of Alterra. He brought the "A" game and I was sold. He stayed within my budget and he gave me what I was looking for and honestly I had no idea what I was looking for until I saw it. Colorful. Architectural. Low Maintenance. Amazing. I don't know how else to express just how happy I am with his workmanship. In addition, he has the most fabulous team. They are on time, considerate and fantastic at what they do. I work at home so I saw them on a daily basis and watched how they work. Now go call Jeff and get your beautiful yard on!

I found Jeffery Riddle and Alterra on Houzz. He took care of all permits and dealing with my HOA. The project was designed in a professional manner. The project was started and completed in two weeks. The rain held off, the labor showed on time and there were no complaints from neighbors about any inconveniences. I gave my real estate agent Jeffery's card. Alterra built a pagoda on a slab extending my existing porch. They installed river rock on the sides of the house and two flower beds with plants. They also reconfigured the sprinklers.

We are so happy we found Jeff and his team to redo our small backyard, which included taking down 2 huge trees. Jeff listens and very tactfully orients our suggestions (because sometimes they are unrealistic ;p-) when necessary. From the initial planning to on-time delivery we felt confident and very comfortable. We love our new backyard!

Earlier this year I approached Jeff about helping us with our yard. Over the last couple of years several plants in the front yard had died. We were also having some rainwater runoff issues. Jeff and I agreed on a budget based on other similar projects he had done. He produced drawings based on our wish list and his expertise. He modified the plans until we were happy. The removal and installation crew was friendly and hard working. We felt like they worked quickly anddid an awesome job. The result is that our front yard is beautiful. My biggest issue with landscapers is that they didn't listen so when I first contacted Jeffrey that's what I told him. He not only listened but has become a family friend. Their work is beautiful, professional and they spent a huge amount of time with us reviewing drawings asking us questions to make sure they got it right. They stand behind their work. I was invited to go out to wholesale nursery and actually choose and tag plants. It has been amazing from start to finish and we are now ready to do the backyard. Our house looks so amazing that we have people driving by and slowing down to take pictures! Couldn't be more pleased. Jeffrey organized a run to Houston and we sent almost $9000.00 of goods including water, dog food, diapers, formula and more on their landscaping trucks. Jeffrey drove the truck down and back in one day. We took some pictures. He and his company are amazing people.

Working with Jeff and Alterra to transform our front landscaping was a delight, and the results exceeded every expectation we had of how the finished design would look. His selection of plant sizes, colors, and varieties were terrific. His use of boulders and river rocks were the perfect accents to the project.
