Garden Nest Residential Landscape

Garden Nest just finished a total overhaul of our backyard, we love it!! We were overwhelmingly impressed with the quality of the crew and the knowledge, care and perfection that went into our project. They have a true passion for landscaping, plants and design. They were very patient with my ever changing design decisions. Everything we did was completely custom to the needs and interests of our family. Lots of edibles, low-water and perennial plants, safe play spaces for young kids, an older and very custom property, and a unique bay area micro-climate. We highly recommend!

I can't say enough about Jeannie Fitch, Alfredo and the crew that worked on my re-landscaping project. They were professional, rendered high quality work and found solutions that exceeded my expectations. Jeannie was patient with me when I was unsure about my vision and what I wanted, and she gave me options to consider. When my ideas were not the best ones, she challenged me to reconsider. I wholeheartedly trust her knowledge and experience. I love my garden and enjoy spending time in it. In fact, the first thing I do every day is to peek at it to see so if there are new discoveries. It gives me a great deal of satisfaction and delight to see the garden as it changes from one season to the next. The re-landscaping project was a major undertaking. My wife and I decided our back yard needed an overall. I was constantly thinking that if we tried to sell our house that the one drawback to the house would be the condition of our back yard. It has been more than 20+ years since it was re-landscaped, and we had a large 1950's swimming pool that no one had used in years that needed a major overhaul. We started working with Jeanie last spring, and ultimately decided to remove our swimming pool, add a big arbor as an outdoor seating area (basically we added an outside room to our house) which will ultimately have an outdoor couch, chairs, and a table to put food and drinks on, reduce the footprint of green grass, convert our existing planting areas to drip (they were previously gas hogging spray areas), replace some old redwood porches with concrete porches veneered with stone tiles, add a lot of landscape lighting and a water feature, and make our back yard "pop" visually. This was a very big job that required almost three months of construction, 3 guys, 6 days a week. The results far exceeded our expectations. The design of the arbor is spectacular and very beefy in all respects with great lighting and built in outdoor heaters. Jeannie's design was wonderful, and with the execution of her job foreman, Alfredo, we are very pleased with the results. We like the results so much, that in the spring we plan to have them come back and freshen up our front yard, though next time with little or no hardscape work--a project that will cost a fraction of what the back yard cost and take far fewer man hours to complete. The plan for the front yard is less grass, new grass, and a conversion of our existing plants to drip irrigation also, further reducing our water usage, which under our old landscape scheme had become terribly expensive and ecologically impractical in a state plagued with droughts. We look forward to working with Jeannie and Alfredo again.

We used Garden Nest for an extensive landscape project (front yard, front entrance, driveway, pool area, multiple patios and walkways) that included installing a new path/sidewalk and front entrance, lighting, mailbox column, irrigation system and deer fence in addition to plants. We are extremely pleased with the outcome. Jeannie was involved in the entire process from the initial site inspection through the final walkthrough and guided us in selecting plants that we liked and that were appropriate for our location, picking out stone for our front entrance, helping select pots, etc. Additionally, her landscaping team is professional and helpful as well who did a lot of little extras and kept the work site clean and neat.

Jeannie has great artistic vision and a withering eye that no contractor can escape. She really put a lot of passion into helping me realize my dream and was conscious of my budget.

We found and ultimately hired Jeannie based upon her stellar reviews on Houzz, but unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience. Over the course of approximately 8 months, Jeannie made several visits to our house to meet and discuss our plan, job scope, and goals for the project. We hired her company to design and install landscaping/hardscape using large rocks and deeply rooted natives to help stabilize our creekside hill which had been suffering from erosion. The design process went fine, however, literally on the eve prior to beginning the installation, her foreman came to our house with her and informed both her and I that he could not carry out her plans. You can imagine our frustration after waiting 8 months from the start of the design process all the way until the eve of installation, only to be told that the plans were not viable. Based upon his input, she stated the plans needed to be revised from stacked boulders to gabion baskets, which we stated we were against from our first meeting due to the need for city permits and fish and wildlife approval (which would further delay the installation by another 6 months or more based upon creekside regulations). Our requests for a refund on the costs for the plan went unanswered and we were left with a loss of ~$2000 for plans that could ultimately not be carried out as planned. Not to mention, those 8 months of waiting during the design/planning phase put us at the start of another winter season, thus delaying the process even further. All of this could have easily been avoided if the foreman had been involved in the planning process from the start. Their lack of communication to each other sadly resulted in a financial loss for us, and we were left having to find a new landscape designer to begin the process all over again.

We had a great experience with Jeannie and the Garden Nest group. They were organized from the outset, beginning with a detailed bid with a breakdown of costs. They kept us informed, were timely and worked hard. We liked Jeannie's ideas and plant choices. We recommend them!

Working with Jeannie Fitch, her staff and crew was a positive experience from beginning to end. My project involved a completely new front yard to replace all that had died during the drought, including some previously-lovely dead birch trees, and a new driveway. I was able to show her a picture of what I had in mind, and had a dream of pavers that was way beyond my budget. Jeannie did such a great job of translating the photo into a creative design of low maintenance plants and walkways and suggested a permeable gravel driveway that I just love. Throughout the project, I so appreciated her respect for both my own ideas and the limits of my project budget. Her staff was always responsive, and her crew on time and professional, as well as just very pleasant people to work with.

Garden Nest did a great job completely renovating our back yard. We wanted a low maintenance, natural looking outdoor living space. She listened to what we wanted and provided a couple of design proposals, then worked with us to fine tune it to best suit our lifestyle and budget. She assisted us every step of the way with material selection. Jeannie and her hard working crew completed the job on time and on budget. I can tell Jeannie loves plants and design – she has a good eye for both. We love our back yard!

The Goal: Replace dead grass and broken cement on porch/driveway with no/low water plants and hardscape. The Design Process: Jeannie listened, asked the right questions and listened some more. The Design Proposals: Three beautiful designs to choose from with flexible options. Plants & materials: Jeannie included me in the design process for the plants, pavers, gravel, lighting, etc. etc. The Job & Crew: I can't begin to express my gratitude to Alfredo and his crew: Agustin, Wilbur, Daniel and Jose. They worked hard every day, showed respect for my property and I ended up with a beautiful front yard!
