What a backyard transformation! Casey had great ideas and suggested ways to save money in expanding the patio and replacing our deck and front stairs. We have a beautiful stamped concrete patio, rock wall, front stairs, and deck with covered pergula. He started with a detailed proposal and sat with us to explain what to expect and what not to expect. In this pandemic chaos, there were numerous difficulties with material availability, delivery delays, gas shortage, etc. Casey handled those with a minimum of disruption and was good in communicating with us. The project actually finished ahead of the proposed time. Very professional and hardworking. The crews were top notch, very knowledgeable, and hardworking with a friendly attitude. I'm very satisfied with the work Hardrock Landscape did for me. I had a drainage issue causing erosion in the backyard that Hardrock address with the installation of a channel drain at the end of my driveway and a dry creek bed to carry excessive rainwater beyond my back fence line. Work was done ahead of schedule and no cleanup needed to be done on my part after the work was done.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! I am extremely satisfied with the professional and courteous service I received from Hardrockscapes. Extremely professional! After arriving at the house for an estimate, he sat down with us, made sure we understood not only the quote but the work that would be performed. We were given several options to choose from. This was big job, old patio had to be taken out, concrete had to be removed, lawn had to be leveled, sod had to be laid down and some small trees/bushes had to be removed. Work was completed ahead of scheduled. After it was completed, we were so impressed! It didn’t even look like the same yard! Highly recommended for their professionalism, customer service and experience! (I am unsure of the exact date.)

I contacted Casey to design a complete backyard renovation. He listened to our wants and asked us what our budget was. He was able to design an amazing stone patio a fireplace and an outdoor kitchen. He implemented a landscape plan that was flawless. He also included an irrigation system to sustain the beautiful plants and trees he planted. We would recommend Casey to all of our friends and neighbors.

I had a great experience with Casey. We had two areas completed - one new patio with stacked stone wall, and a walkway. Several other stone items too (steps, etc.). He completed all on-time and the work quality was great. When we had a slight settling issue on the patio (it was built-up about 4 ft of new dirt, so not unexpected) he was back out within the week to re-level and fit everything himself.

I have been in the contractor trades for 15+ years, specifically lawn maintenance and HVAC. I have worked in, on and around people’s homes and understand the personal attachment, investment and importance a home has to its owners and occupants. Value, quality, consistency and trust are critical aspects in maintaining a productive relationship with a customer in trade services industries. In short, Casey Farley and his company Hardrock Landscape Construction shocked me by systematically blowing each of these aspects apart as the $38,000+ backyard renovation I hired him to do came to completion. I do not think Casey is a malicious or intentionally deceitful man, BUT I do think he is a young, emotional and inexperienced small business owner who has a lot to learn! Below are just a handful of facts summarizing my experience with hiring Casey Farley: 1. I contacted Casey Farley over a 3 month (Feb to April) period requesting warranty work adjustments to a dry creek bed I paid him $9000+ to install. As of late April I demanded he give me a date to complete work by. I also began to have other contractors give me professional feedback and quotes in the event I could not get Casey to come back. Once Casey was aware of the urgency of the matter and that I was having other contractors review his work, he responded to my latest email from a week earlier demanding, "I stop having contractors over and that I'd better keep my concerns between him and I." Based on his response and me trying to get Casey to adjust dry creek bed among other small typical warranty items for the last 3 months, I refused to speak with him on the phone. I would only communicate via email so that I could document the conversation. He told me my original warranty was voided because I would not speak with him on the phone. (Really?!) 2. After paying Casey Farley $38,000 for project, I requested Casey replace 3 rock shards on the top of fire pit (picture added with this post) he insisted on charging me $150/hr labor plus materials. He stated there was nothing wrong with the caps on fire pit and that my request was based on aesthetics and was not covered under warranty. Casey had the audacity to say this after telling me one of his guys broke the stone while building, but went ahead and used the subsequent fragments anyway. Please see picture. 3. Near the end of the project it was clear another truck load of dirt was needed. I approved order for dump truck costing $550+/-. Casey added an additional charge of $600 for lost labor hours stating that the load was a last minute request by customer and his crew had to sit around 4 hours waiting on the truck to arrive. I agree this was last minute, BUT from an invoice several weeks earlier containing fees for work added to project, Casey clearly documented in the notes it was likely that another three loads of dirt may be needed and would cost $550+/- per load. Given this, HOW ON EARTH could you charge someone a "lost labor" fee of $600 for something you knew weeks earlier might be needed!!! Again I spent $38,000+ for this project! I got penalized for Casey's lack of planning... REALLY?! Here's the take away lesson. Hire medium/large to large landscaping companies that have been in your area 10+ years, are well advertised and have a reputation worth protecting!!! I could have paid well-known companies 10-20% more $ than Hardrock, but would have actually saved twice as much money, heartache and precious time. While you give up some of that local feel and cheaper price when you hire a bigger company you really make up for it in scheduling, warranty assistance, crew size and access to customer support.
