BuildEx has established itself as a premier builders in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and surrounding areas for 24 years. Founded in 1996 by Brian Ehrenfeld, our company boasts a portfolio of hundreds of permitted projects over years. Our company is based on craftsmanship, solid construction knowledge and time proven techniques. Brian, a Pittsburgh native, graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He started his construction career by interning at some of the more established construction companies in the area. There, he learned the fundamental trades of building. Brian manifested this knowledge, combined it with his passion to innovate and started BuildEx. Brian, and his company, know that successful projects require a vision. Working with BuildEx - Brian Ehrenfeld - was a smooth process. Brian listened well and was responsive to our needs throughout the building process. He was knowledgable, affordable, and professional throughout the process, as was his crew. Brian was held to exacting standards and he worked hard to make our home precisely what we wanted it to be, and he did it with a smile on his face. He was upfront about all costs when changes were made and he worked hard to keep the project on schedule. I had the entire interior of my townhome (including creating an open floor plan, totally new kitchen and baths, and upgrade of living areas) in Chapel Hill redone by BuildEx. The work done was high-quality and the personal and professional service that Brian and Alex provided gave me the confidence that my detail-oriented high standards would be met.

Last fall I have major window repairs due to external wood rot. Had to replace 16ft wall of stationary doors as well as wood window on the front of the house. Brian was wonderful and assisted me with changes and enhancements that would not only repair the damage but also enhance the look to add value to my home. The supervision during work was terrific. I completely trust BuildEx for future work and renovations to my home.

Traditions In Tile At Brier Creek

I have had the pleasure of working with Buildex on numerous projects from new construction to remodeling older spaces. It is evident that Brian listens to what his client wants and needs and then makes it happen (in budget). Each project is unique to the homeowner and that says a lot about a builder when they can think "outside the box" for each home they work on. I look forward to helping in tile selections on future projects.

Carolina Glass & Mirror

Carolina Glass & Mirror recently worked on a custom bathroom project for a BuildEx client. This was a custom frameless shower enclosure that turned out beautifully - we can't to see the final product photos. We enjoy partnering with reputable builders and contractors and Brian is surely that. He works between us direct and his clients to make sure everyone receives the finished product they are looking for. We can't wait for our next project with BuildEx and Brian.

BuildEx has gotten a top rating from us for several reasons. Overall, the construction project was "painless" and seamless to us, the homeowners. The owner of the company uses a construction communication software that makes updates and information-sharing very easy. Secondly, he was at the job site daily for extended hours, making sure all details were perfect. The project was completed very timely and totally to our specifications. The detail work in the sunroom flowed beautifully from the main part of the house. My husband and I couldn't be happier!

Teal Interior Design

After working with Brian of BuildEx on an extremely custom home, in Maida Vale. I realized BuildEx is not your average builder. Every detail is important, as well as follow-up on all items, which is wonderful when you are working as a team to complete a project this special. Communication is always key, and Brian with BuildEx is so organized and professional. Brian is very hands-on throughout the entire project, from start to finish. His knowledge of the building world allows BuildEx to excel in every aspect of building a home. With 18 years of experience, Brian has an extensive background and is able to offer an extreme amount of knowledge to the home-building process from pre-planning to punch list. When looking for a builder, in my opinion you can not go wrong with Brian. BuildEx is always exceeding the clients expectations and it is always a pleasure to work side-by-side with him and his company when building a client's dream home.

Removed stamped concrete patio and replaced it with concrete pavers. In addition constructed three planter areas. Brian and his crew were very responsive, made excellent suggestions and attentive to detail. Would highly recommend them.
