I hired Galaxy Homes for a huge project - putting a two-story addition onto my house in Hyattsville. My house is 100+ years old and I wanted to put a modern addition on the back. The project took quite a while due to a permitting issue (we required a variance from the city and county), but Matt took care of everything. It was a complete pleasure working with Nicole, Matt, and Sean at Galaxy Homes. Much of the work was done while we were out of the country and when we returned they were more than 80% done. They did complete renovations of three bathrooms for us and we are incredibly pleased on how they turned out. Nicole worked with us on selecting everything from toilets to towel bars. I highly recommend Galaxy Homes!

It is difficult to find reputable building companies that stand behind their slogans and work. Galaxy Homes takes the bar a notch higher, they are not only reputable but extremely talented and judicious in the execution of their work. Mr. Kulp and Mrs. Tysvaer are talented builders with an extensive knowledge of construction techniques and design. It is with this plurality of expertise coupled with a wonderful disposition which makes this company an exceptional contributor to the building industry. They have provided outstanding services to my Architectural firm of Umar-Pareja Architects. I recommend Galaxy Homes without absolutely any hesitation.

Galaxy Homes built a complete house for me, starting with an empty plot of land. It was completed in August of 2015. Overall it was a positive experience. Matt Kulp, is the owner and the person you will be dealing with most. He is warm, trustworthy and knowledgeable. He always has a can-do attitude and is good at communicating the pros and cons of what you are trying to do. You can tell he knows what he is doing w/o his dropping buzzwords and anecdotes to impress you as some other builders do. I felt that he was straight with me throughout the whole process. He dealt with some very tight building restrictions and difficult neighbors with grace and patience. The city and neighbors also told me that they found him very courteous and prompt when something needed attention. My job was one of their first big jobs and I think they still had a few kinks to get out of the process. It was also rather complicated. The quality control wasn't quite there yet, so finding issues generally fell back on me. While this was frustrating, I appreciated that Matt would never complain about fixing these issues and was always very easy to work with. He is committed to making the customer happy. I think they underestimated how long it would take to build the house. Matt told me the house would take 7 months to build and it took nearly 10. I think part of what slowed it down was the project manager at the time wasn't always on top things. But considering stories I have heard about construction dragging on and on, I know this could have been a lot worse. I appreciated that Galaxy was very reasonable with change orders. Small items were sometimes not billed and a couple bigger ones were done for free to compensate for errors that were made in electrical. His prices always seemed fair. They have also been good about honoring the warranty and fixing any issues that have come up after we moved in. I understand that Galaxy has learned from some of the issues in my build and has corrected them. They were receptive to my feedback and are continually improving their process. Although it was not always the smoothest process, I ended up with a beautiful home. Matt Kulp is a fair and honest person to work with, and the company should be recognized as one of the top builders in the area. I have already selected them for a small addition.

We were very pleased with the work Galaxy Homes did to rebuild a very large two-story porch in our historic 1870s home in Washington. They did everything from the architectural design to permitting with the city to the actual construction and painting. They did high quality work and were very accommodating with our requests. I would definitely hire them again.

We were very happy to work with Galaxy Homes on multiple aspects of our house. They completed a major addition to our house and gutted and remodeled our first floor (including both a kitchen and a bathroom). Matt and Nicole were communicative throughout the entire process. They were helpful as we worked through multiple redesigns due to historic preservation, and even recommended an excellent architect to us.

We loved working with Galaxy! They did exactly what they promised in addition to going above and beyond our expectations. The entire staff was responsive and easy to work with. They took the time to explain issues and met with us every few weeks to ensure our questions were answered. I highly recommend them!

We had a fantastic experience with every aspect of our experience with Galaxy from the design phase through completion. Our project (renovating our kitchen, adding a family room, and generally upgrading the downstairs of our home) was completed on time, on budget, and to perfection. Everyone at Galaxy is easy to work with, honest, communicative, and detail oriented. Nicole did an amazing job keeping us on schedule and making adjustments on the fly as necessary. And we were particularly happy to have Matt in charge -- he knows what to do and how to do it while keeping calm, always being pleasant, and understanding the customer. We have heard so many stories of problems during construction and we encountered none of them. We are so glad that we chose Galaxy!

Galaxy Homes recently helped us remodel three bathrooms and our guest bedroom. They were extremely responsive to our needs and provided solid advice and assistance with all of the decisions we faced (from big to small!). The Galaxy team became a big part of our life for a few months and were a pleasure to have around--always respectful and kind. I am so happy that Galaxy Homes built my home. It was a newly-constructed, sustainable, energy-efficient house, design by my architect husband and Galaxy Homes got it built. I'm proud that it just earned the Gold Award for Sustainability and Energy-efficiency by Arlington Green Design. Galaxy Homes just finished adding the in-law suite to our house, and it has been a great experience. A couple of contractors bid on our plans, and Galaxy Home’s price was more competitive. We liked the examples of their previous projects and felt their style was a good fit with our house. At the project’s commencement, we were given a schedule - and Galaxy has met all the deadlines. They were helpful with the selection of materials and had creative solutions when we made last minute changes. In other words, we will definitely work with Matt and Nichole again.
