Finesse Design Remodeling is a full service, award winning design-build firm that specializes in fine renovations and restorations in the Washington, DC area. We provide personalized service with owner involvement to escort clients through the entire design-build process. As a design/ build firm, we handle our projects from beginning to end- from design ideas, to material selections and the construction of the project. Our in- house team of Project Developers, Professional Designers, Project Managers and skilled Craftsmen work together to provide an outstanding remodeling experience while creating distinctive spaces that speak to you. Elizabeth has over a decade of experience in the design-build industry and has worn nearly every hat along the way before opening Finesse. Her projects have been recognized numerous times over the years, earning her first Grand level Contractor of the Year award at the age of 23. Her projects have been featured in several publications including The Washington Post, Home and Design Magazine, and The Today Show. Brian Bielski is responsible for supervising all daily operations, providing design insight and for on-site project management. In his early career, Brian worked as a Union Carpenter for several large construction firms from 1980- 1987. Brian continued developing his skills in the construction industry by acquiring degrees in both engineering and construction management. Brian has managed, owned and operated his own design build firm since 1991, achieved Certified Remodeler (CR) status and won numerous contractor of the year awards from 1995 – 2010 through the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). With over 35 years of experience in construction, engineering and design, Brian has designed and built hundreds of projects.

The whole Finesse team are wonderful people, highly professional, extremely skilled, creative and laser-focused on getting the details right. My project involved tricky design and construction challenges and they were always easy to work with, 100 percent responsive, on time and on budget. The crew at my house during the five months of construction were conscientious, consistent and efficient. Everyone I worked with at Finesse takes pride in their work and that made all the difference.

I chose Brian and Elizabeth on the recommendation of a friend who had used them in the past. They were responsive and did a great job of explaining the process along the way. Being new to the area, it was important to have someone I could trust and a project that wouldn't have me out of my home for an extended period of time, but they go way beyond that. I started working with Finesse after wasting a year of my time (and money) with an architectural firm drawing up plans that were not actionable. Finesse worked with me to come up with reality-based plans that were within my budget and incorporated my vision for the house, including some great ideas that didn't even cross my mind and have become some of my favorite aspects of the renovation. They assisted with permitting, worked with me on the budget (making sure I understood where every dollar was going) and delivered my project on time. While the renovation did run slightly over (the modified) budget, it was well within the margins (about 10%) considering the size of this project (whole house renovation of a 100-year-old DC row house). And it was Worth. Every. Penny. Two years later, I'm very happy about how it turned out and I still get compliments on the attention to detail. And so many other renovations I see look so amateurish in comparison.

Elizabeth and Brian really impressed us with their overall professionalism and excellent design ideas – developing a layout that we never would have thought of but really made the best use of our limited space. They guided us through the entire process, explaining the various options and incorporating our aesthetic into the design. As first time home owners with a limited budget they worked closely with us to make sure that we had a kitchen that we loved within a budget we could afford. We loved working with Elizabeth, Brian, and entire Finesse team and would do it again in a heartbeat! Brian, Elizabeth and the entire Finesse team were absolutely amazing and a joy to work with. They provided wonderful communication, timely delivery of all project deadlines, creative solutions for challenging design issues and outstanding craftsmanship. Brian's mind for creative problem solving in older homes was top-notch. Elizabeth's design eye and materials suggestions were always spot on with my style, even though my style differed from their typical client. The workers were polite, professional, clean and courteous and the office staff was always helpful and responsive. A bit about our project: Finesse ultimately opened up our closed-off row house, built a closet in a bedroom, updated our main bathroom, painted the entire house, and created a powder room The scope of the project changed multiple times (on our, the owner's, end), but Brian and Elizabeth were great every step of the way and always worked with us to refine and tweak our vision up until the very end. In the end, they came in on budget and on schedule and were hands on every step of the way!

Elizabeth and Brian are awesome to work with! They truly do know their stuff, and treat each client as one of their partners throughout the entire design-build process. A lot of other contractors will have you working with different people throughout the entire process. This isn't the case with Finesse as Elizabeth and Brian are there, practically holding your hand, each step of the way.

We did a complete renovation of our kitchen and Brian and Elizabeth were amazing. It was important that our kitchen be modern yet timeless. Elizabeth was great at taking our design ideas and making them a reality all the way down to a feeding station for the dog! Brian was creative in how he addressed structural issues and the construction team was great. I will definitely use Finesse again.

We have been doing the electrical work for Finesse for years, and we enjoy working with Brian and Elizabeth because their projects are well designed and run smoothly. The design build system they use is seamless because we are brought in at the beginning to see the space and discuss the plans and pricing. When we are scheduled to come do rough in’s or to trim out a job, they are always ready, which says a lot about their experience in coordinating their projects. Finesse was amazing! They remodeled our kitchen, 2.5 bathrooms, installed a new HVAC, all new internal doors, some new windows, blew out a wall and put in new French doors, moved our washer/dryer upstairs and built new closets and storage space. We had multiple rooms that were stripped down to the studs and the floor and tile was replaced We have two children under the age of 4 and lived in the house with them and our dog through the whole thing and they made it possible. The people who work with them are amazing! They came early, stayed late and often worked on weekends. Elizabeth has great taste and worked with our taste and our budget to get what we wanted. Finesse stayed within budget and timeline even though we added items! We still have some things we'd like to do and hope to work with Finesse in the future!
