Doug, the Tinman, designed and built us a fantastic large zinc table top for our kitchen/dining area. He did it in record time and worked really hard to make sure we had the top for Thanksgiving. He went the extra mile by helping us install it too - even though we had said we would take care of that part, he wanted to help anyways. He is a wonderful person, very customer-focused, creative, curious, dedicated and so interesting. We are honoured to have his work at our home. It makes us feel good to have something that special, hand-crafted with such high skill right here in Seattle! Thanks Tinman!

Seattle's Tinman is a metal master, an artist! And joy to work with. He helped solve a metal problem that has been bugging me for 20 years! He is the only one I have found that could.

We had a bad water leak on some fascia board on a rooftop deck. Doug installed metal coping to cover it. Just in time. Days later we had severe thunderstorms. Not a drop of water came through. Not only did the final product look fantastic, but it keeps the rooftop deck watertight. Doug French, The Tinman, is skilled and meticulous as well as congenial. Doug was engaged to design, build and install copper caps and flashing for exposed woodwork on an early '60s structure at The Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island. He devised clever and aesthetically appealing solutions to the problems we faced that were in keeping with the architecture of the structure. The work was completed on time and within budget, and I recommend him without hesitation.

Doug French (aka The Tinman) is a true artist and craftsman. He designed and fabricated a beautiful zinc cap for the newel post on our main stairway as part of a log home restoration. We drew the dimensions (because our home is hours from Doug's workshop), and he created a one- of- a-kind cap that fit the unusual dimension perfectly. He also very thoughtfully fabricated a small tool for us to use in case we needed to make adjustments when we placed the cap. He's very professional and completed the work on schedule.

I would highly recommend The Tinman for any copper and zinc project. I had Doug install a custom detailed zinc backsplash in my own kitchen remodel. I am an architect so I am very particular and quite fussy about the details but Doug gladly worked through the options with me and even mocked up some details and finishes. The final product and patina looked great and cost was very fair. There just aren't that many people around that know zinc and copper very well anymore and Doug knows it inside and out. Doug is smart and a talented craftsman. He has re-tined copper pots and manufactured architectural items for me and I have been more than pleased. In fact I have recommended him to many others and they were impressed as well.

I found Doug through Google as my wife and I planned special accents for our new home. Everything was totally out of the box and Doug was great to work with - understanding, patient and extremely creative. His first task was to create zinc caps for half walls around our Great Room. The work was flawless with invisible seams and smooth corners. Hi talents were really put to the test when we called on him to design a cover for our fireplace chimney that our builder had totally screwed up. With his input and great work with metals, what was an eyesore was transformed into the design focal point of the house, as it was intended. Great work Doug!
