We have used David’s interior design services on three separate occasions in two different homes—and if that doesn’t indicate that we were highly satisfied with his work, then I don’t know what would. We initially hired David to complete a gut renovation of a 1960s era ranch house in Southampton, NY in 2006, I believe. This was the first time that we had hired a designer, and David was patient with us and a consummate professional throughout the process. He gave us sage advice about where to invest our money and where we could save it—including his counsel to use the space for a bit first and see where we really spent our time, which features of the house we loved and which we hated. The end result was spectacular, and one of my favorite features that David suggested was opening up an exterior wall to allow for a 16-foot expanse of sliding glass doors that allowed us to look out onto the bay. A few years later, we hired David again—this time to renovate a Brooklyn brownstone dating back to the 1860s. He helped turn a beautiful but rather dark and dated house into a brighter, more colorful, family-friendly home. And finally, after we left the NYC area, we recently hired David for a smaller scale renovation of that same Brooklyn house to update it for the rental market, including a gut renovation of the two bathrooms, as well as some cosmetic updates throughout. David is a smart and creative designer, and he has consistently made suggestions that improved our living spaces while working within our budget. He is extremely well-organized, polite, and professional, and I would absolutely recommend his services.

Meeting and working with David Kaplan was one of the best parts of moving to NYC! My wife and I had never worked with an interior designer, and David was approachable, patient and guided us through the design process very thoroughly. He transformed our NYC apartment into a stunning place to live and entertain. He introduced us to colors, patterns and designs that we wouldn't (and couldn't) have thought of ourselves. I love coming home to our beautifully designed apartment. He was also a professional in dealing with the supply chain issues that the pandemic brought - keeping us in the loop on delays and delivery dates. The highlights include: column wallpaper, office/guest room design, peacock colored chairs and ottoman in the sitting area, the dining table & incredible lighting above it, just to name a few. I thoroughly enjoy working with David. He has a great sense of colors and styles and combines them to create rooms with personality but without being overbearing, Spaces in which you can feel comfortable immediately since there is an overall balance and coherence while still having elements that stand out. David captured the sense of what I wanted to have and created my perfect place. I highly recommend him.

David is an excellent interior designer and exceptionally easy to work with. We first hired David in 1999 for the full interior design of a new two-bedroom apartment. It has been a great pleasure to work with David Kaplan on several projects in our NYC apartment, where the challenges included creating a floor plan that maximizes multiple functions in the living space, design of customized furniture and locating other furniture and fabrics that beautifully blended in with our personal tastes and lifestyle. I worked with David Kaplan first on my apartment in Manhattan and loved the result so much I imported him to Atlanta to design my town house there. The Atlanta job included total remodel of the kitchen, master bathroom and the guest bathroom as well as furnishing the town house. I love my house and loved working with David. For both my apartment and townhouse David was able to create the feel and look that i wanted. David also was very respectful that i was working on a budget and was great about staying on budget. I wholeheartedly recommend David. Not only is he very creative, he is very enjoyable to work with and very responsive.

My husband and I asked David Kaplan to help us finish decorating our recently-remodeled apartment, including the selection of a love seat and other seating, end tables, and area rugs. He has worked patiently and efficiently, taking us to showrooms to see samples, as well as bringing us many fabric samples to view at home. He also has willingly worked within our budget. As my husband and I do not usually agree on decor, David has done amazingly well finding furnishings we both like. While we are not yet done with the project, David has helped us move it along, and peace has reigned!

My husband & I used David's talant & expertise for our Fort Lauderdale Florida condo renovation & are currently working with him on our Manhattan coop renovation. We originally contracted with him after seeing some of his completed projects & comparing his quote with several other designers. We liked his design ideas for our architectural changes, kitchen/bath design, and furniture/ art purchases, but the reason we hired him for our second renovation is his ability to listen to our requests & incorporate our ideas into his designs. We are also impressed that he can design each project in different styles. Our Florida apartment being very modern while our NYC apartment will be more traditional/transitional. One very important point which should be addressed when choosing a designer is how responsive he is. David has always answered our concerns & has interacted with our contractor & outside vendors effectively & in a timely manner. how responsive the person is. David has always responded to our. questions & dealt with outside vendors & our contractor in a timely & effective manner.

I have been using the design services of David Kaplan in New York since 2000. In addition to his calm and pleasing personality, David has a very keen eye for putting elements together in a way that reflects the cluent's needs. What is particularly impressive and important for me is his seamless management of a project from beginning through end, including the finer details and touches. I have lived in three apartments and each one was beautifully designed by David.
