Courthouse Design recently remodeled my kitchen, and did various exterior roofing work, and did a beautiful job. They were skilled, so professional and always easy to work with. From choosing materials, to construction and finishing work Jim Gardiner's team was extraordinary. I couldn't be happier with my new kitchen.

Jim and his crew were honest, communicative, always on time, CLEAN, kind, professional, highly skilled and creative, well-connected with other vendors/subcontractor, and cared for our home at every stage of the project. We would not hesitate to work with them again.

We had an outdated 20+ year old kitchen and adjacent powder room that we wanted to totally reconfigure. Jim did an excellent job with his knowledge and attention to detail. He and his staff and crew did a great job of building out the design. And a couple years prior to that Courthouse redid an old upstairs typical Arlington post-war era bathroom with great results.

We live in a high-rise condominium in McLean and hired Courthouse Design/Build to re-design, reconfigure and remodel our master and hall bathrooms, our foyer, and to upgrade various doors throughout our condominium. Jim Gardiner and his staff got the job because of their unique design ideas and the quality of their work. We are very pleased with the results. The pricing was fair and we received excellent value for our investment.

Quality, Quality, Quality! We have nothing but the highest recommendations for Courthouse Design/Build. We originally hired them over 20 years ago to perform a luxury remodel of our master bath. We met with Courthouse for many design sessions before the actual construction began. Jim Gardiner, the owner walked us through many design concepts, while keeping our design goals and budget constraints in mind. Every cost and step of the process was explained in detail. There were no hidden costs and the promised finished time-line was kept. Jim had a great work team, whom we totally entrusted by allowing them access to our home when we were not there. We could not have been more pleased with the outcome and our master bath was admired by many of our neighbors. We liked Courthouse so much that 10 years later we hired them again for a complete remodel of our main floor. We had a pretty clear vision of what we wanted in the remodel, but with Jim's expertise and guidance, the outcome exceeded our expectations. Once again, we had complete trust in Jim's work team and allowed them full access to the house when we were not there. The remodel stands today without any changes and anyone who sees it has only the highest compliments. Again in 2019 we hired Courthouse for a new back deck and front patio/walkway. Both are simply lovely and very unique designs. We are close to a park pathway and receive compliments weekly from people passing by. We can't say enough good things about Courthouse and will hire them again the next time we have another remodel.

Courthouse Design Build did a complete renovation of my very old bathroom. The work required a tear down to the studs that revealed unique challenges due to the age of the plumbing that needed to be replaced. Jim came up with creative and smart solutions to work through the issues. My new bathroom is beautiful and much more functional and I enjoy using it every day.

We contracted for a full Design / Build which included Interior and exterior with Courthouse. Selected his design over architectural firms design as his provided for increased value and updating while others did not look at entirety of the project. This included a new master, new kitchen, three new bathrooms, walk in closet, windows, front entry way addition, masonry work to match existing, hard scape. Courthouse handled the entire project from conceptual design to final design to implementation and permits as well as final closeout. By far provided the most realistic over all complete project budget upfront. Was able to work with in our construction loan and worked with us along with Mclean Mortgage for progress payments based on task completion. Bottom line the interior and exterior of our house is beautiful.

We were so please with Courthouse's superb and professional kitchen remodel. We wanted an updated quality cabinetry re-using the granite that we love and had installed a few years earlier. They understood all our requirements and were willing to work with them. Our budget was only exceeded by the extras that we inevitably requested. The workmen and workmanship were impeccable. We could not have been happier. Jim guided us through great choices and the installers were delightful. They showed up on time, cleaned up daily, stayed on schedule, and returned for the final touches that required a slightly longer window to complete. We could not say enough good things about their work!

Created innovative design to change an "old" floor plan of small boxy spaces into an "open" space with great flow - AND - Remodeled large condominium (built in 1981) - kitchen completely redone, cabinets, plumbing, lighting, appliances - moved walls, created closets, opened doorways, installed sliding/pocket doors, - created a sumptuous spa master bath, with huge shower for two with 2 showerheads - updated one bathroom, and completely renovated 2 others, - created the perfect bar/sitting space to highlight the open concept (wet bar, icemaker, refrigerator) - unique decorative stone wall, mosaic detail, arched display area - wood flooring laid in an unusual diagonal pattern, curved slate floors in master bath - completely reworked the lighting plans and electrics, adding customized display walls/areas Can't possibly say enough good things about Jim Gardiner - excellent "eye" for detail, a creative outlook, willing to engage in new ideas, and very adaptive to the customer's wishes (even when we didn't know how to make our notions real, he managed to take our unclear wishes and tone it down/or ramp it up so that we would get the effects we wanted). I interviewed many design/build firms in the area - and soon realized that no one had a lock on a great price - everyone came to about the same dollar estimate. For us, the fact that he was the only one who asked to see our current apartment (so that he could gauge our style) BEFORE he saw the condo we wanted to renovate, was a thoughtful quality we were very impressed with - and put him ahead right from the beginning. We have now been in our condo for almost a year, and there is not a single thing we would change - we did have the luxury of time (living in our apt until all the work was finished), but that creates other kinds of stress providing time to second-guess decisions. His suppliers were quite cooperative; the silestone in the kitchen was done twice, since the first effort did not match his standards which are high. The cabinetry company that he works with did some fabulous custom work that was impeccable. He also has a broad local network of specialists to call on -- really superb craftspeople to handle such items as granite selection, stone cutting, carpeting, glass shelving, custom countertops in unusual materials, even intricate electrical switching and other odd but useful arrangements that suited us. Jim was supportive and encouraging and his crew was wonderful. He was always reachable, and his prime guy-on-site Tim Starr (one of his leads) was meticulous, detail oriented, and a superb craftsman in any medium. He custom-built cabinets in our bar area, created perfect curves in a marble arch, laid the stone for the decorative wall, custom cut marble/slate floor in powder room, and took on various small projects that helped make this place the home we love!

Jim Gardiner designed the remodel of our two bathrooms in 2002 and 2004. Jim was knowledgeable, helpful and dedicated to getting the job done right. I am certain that when we sell our home, the very attractive baths will be a strong selling point.

We had a 30 yr old kitchen that needed a complete rehab. It was a hard to expand kitchen because of the construction of the house and we wanted to keep the same footprint. Jim was very helpful in explaining all aspects of the jobs and pointed us in the direction of buying new appliance, backsplash, lighting and more. His crew was quick and clean with the removing the old cabinets etc. The whole project was perfectly coordinated and on-time. Jim's planning, design, execution, quality and follow up was superb!

I gutted my kitchen and totally renovated. Purchased the cabinets from courthouse. They were professional and addressed my needs immediately. Excellent service, excellent product.
