Not sure why I ever thought I could get through my renovation process without Niv. Very very glad I hired him. He is knowledgeable, calm, patient thoughtful and thorough. He crosses every T and dots every I. Niv is wonderful and easy to work with and is also great managing contractors and other subs. His attention to detail is top notch. In my 1200 sq foot apartment we demolished existing walls and cabinets, refinished floors, replaced windows and interior door, replaced all the lighting, painted throughout, replaced and added shelving, replaced backsplash in kitchen and then some. Not only are Niv's project management skills top notch but his design sense is brilliant. Last but not least he is cost conscious and never made me feel "cheap" when I chose a less expensive option. Niv Ben-Adi, principal of Atelier036, planned and oversaw the gut renovation of our 1100 square foot Brooklyn Heights co-op. We purchased the co-op as a one bedroom space, and he helped us to redesign the space to convert it to two bedrooms with an open living room / kitchen combination. The work was extensive, and included: upgrading the entire electrical system, replacing all plumbing back to the risers, replacing the entire sub-floor and installing new floor / tile throughout, re-designing and moving the kitchen, installing a washer / dryer, replacing the old cast iron radiators, repairing / skim-coating existing walls, installing new lighting throughout and creating new, complex structural openings in load bearing walls on the 3rd floor of a 10 story building. Our building is 120 years old and located in a landmark historic district. We had complete confidence in Niv's ability to properly plan and oversee the job. I might add that we interviewed over a dozen architects before deciding on Niv, and he was a clear standout. Choosing the right architect is key to the success of a project. Niv is an amazing architect and fantastic person. I worked with Niv on the gut renovation of my apartment. During the design phase, Niv (of Atelier036) was creative in developing a design scheme that not only energized the apartment but brought light further into the darker spaces of the garden level apartment – striking the balance between design, budget, quality of materials, and lighting. To make this project affordable, Niv offered to purchase the materials directly from the vendor and coordinate the shipping schedules. This helped keep the GC costs down significantly.During the construction phase, he provided detailed, weekly progress reports which described project progress and critical path items to both the contractor and me. What perhaps impressed me most was Niv’s collaborative spirit and on-site problem-solving. Throughout the entire process, Niv was extremely responsive and pushed the general contractor to do his best work. Niv is the architect for our 2 residential projects. One in east village, one in Brooklyn heights. Niv's plans are very detailed. Not only with typical details, information, elevation, he also provides color renderings some times, which helps us visualizing the space. His design is clean, modern and up to date. Niv visits construction site once a week, answers our calls/emails/texts very promptly regardless of day and time. He provides field report after each site meeting, reviews construction document, payment request and RFIs. He pushes the job, keeping track on schedules, checking to make sure the work is up to his design and expectation. His hard work impresses both homeowners and (us) contractor. Niv was the architect and project manager for our building’s hallway renovation project. He was chosen after a false start with another designer and was tasked to update the aesthetic of the building with a more modern/timeless look. His design was well received by all parties in the building (no small feat) and more importantly he came in on time and on budget (about a $1-1.5mm project). He worked well with the board and the building’s management and executed on a very complex project. i couldn’t more highly recommend Niv for such a project. he brings creative ideas as well as excellent management skills to deliver on his design.

We have had the great fortune of working with Niv. We took recommendations from friends and did extensive interviews and reference checks - and were glad we decided on Niv. We had a major gut renovation of a 2-apartment combination with very strict coop rules/board and extensive NYC rules. Niv was able to envision the space with a concept that was unique to our style (modern and comfortable) and helped take us from this concept to granular detail. He is all things - architect, design, project manager - and created architect plans, lighting, electrical plans, and also sourcing for materials (flooring, concrete wall, tiles, bath, Bose sound system, window covering, appliances, furniture). We are currently working with Niv of Atelier036 on 3 project type Single unit - total gut renovation of 2 bedroom 2 bath approx 860sf 3 unit gut renovation in a 6 story building approx 2,700sf And a retail project in the UWS. Drawing set issued for construction are well detailed and thorough. Niv visits the construction site once a week to monitor and address questions that came up during that week. Additionally he is accessible by phone almost 24-7. After the visit he will follow up with a field report advising both us ( the GC) and client on progress and items required by either party in order to keep the project moving smoothly and on time. Our application for payment are reviewed and approved in a timely manner and release for client final approval. I highly recommend Niv for both residential and commercial projects, his attention to details and level of care results in projects that we are proud to share with out clients.

We hired Niv to renovate a very dated kitchen and bath in our tiny one bedroom apartment. What he created was a spacious, modern apartment with additional shelving, a marvelous kitchen and bath, wonderful lighting and additional closet space. He approached the project with enthusiasm and creativity, mindful of our budget and needs. He presented choices of cabinetry, lighting, appliances, and hardware that were all perfect. We hired Niv to complete a gut renovation of a 2br / 1.5 bath apartment in Greenwich Village. The space was challenged given the absence of natural light and the narrow hallway in the entry. Niv approached the project with enthusiasm and creativity. He came up with the idea to install LED lights in the entryway (something we would not have thought of on our own) to add natural light. The space now feels completely different, and Niv's clean, modern design sensibility permeates throughout the apartment. His sense of design and attention to detail would be reason enough to hire Niv. But just speaking to these would provide an incomplete review. Niv also served as a project manager and oversaw all aspects of the job. He worked harmoniously with our GC, meticulously inspecting the GC's work and keeping the project on-time and on-task. He assisted in the choice of furniture and lighting for the apartment. And, most of all, Niv did a tremendous job of communicating important deadlines and requesting what he needed from us to complete the job on time. I cannot recommend Niv highly enough.

We used niv for a second time to renovate our bathrooms and also add some designed built in shelfs in our master bedroom. Niv was our architect for the first phase of our renovation, where we combined apartments. We loved niv's design aesthetics and he conformed the bathrooms to the rest of the renovation. He was a fantastic project manager and thought of the littles things to make our renovation look good and functional. We also ended up adding a speacilized door fornour cat litter box, which niv came up with the design and supervised the implementation. When we engaged Niv and Atelier036, we began with the intention to open up space in our 1926 colonial by removing the walls between the living and dining rooms and between the dining room and the kitchen. But through Niv's process of discovery, he helped shape a new vision for an open, functional and modern space. He understood our desire to increase space and light but took it in directions we had not imagined with an exposed beam ceiling to add height, a large sliding glass door to add light and integrate the interior with the exterior, and creative, space saving storage elements. Throughout the design process Niv listened to our concerns and suggested creative solutions. Through the construction administration process he presented cost saving options to help keep us within budget. And he was invaluable as a project manager keeping track of every detail and ensuring the work was done to specification. Niv of Atelier036-Studio of Architecture was approached to develop our second project on the UWS. As in the past, the project involved a renovation of a duplex apartment in a walk up building on the UWS, although smaller is size - approximately 800sf. The unit needed new energy while carefully balancing the pre-war aesthetics and modern intervention. Niv offered several very creative ideas regarding the proposed work of which we chose one. Given that we are overseas investors he was our on-ground person. He supervised the project, purchased all finished materials including light fixtures, tiles, plumbing fixtures and kitchen appliances, and made sure to spare no details. We received comprehensive progress reports on a frequent basis. Niv worked with a relatively small budget given the scope of work, and was able to completely turn around the property into a high-end condo property, addressing its shortfalls (dark basement) with very creative solutions. Needless to say that we are very happy with the beautiful and elegant outcome.

We worked with Niv for more than a year on a complicated project combining two apartments. I highly recommend a collaboration with Atelier036 and Niv on your project. We own a 1906 colonial home. In renovating, we wanted to honor the historical design and by no means match it. As an architect and a designer, Niv operates in a world of art history and real talent. After two meetings, we trusted him with the project completely. We let him run with the project and the result is beyond what we thought was possible with the space. At the beginning of a renovation the budget and design seem most important, but in process we were grateful for Niv's tenacious project management. The work required contractor and independent subs for custom metalwork and millwork. Niv handled all parties with authority and was on site constantly.
